Working Experience
Dato' Yong Lei Choo joined the Royal Malaysian Police Force (the Force) in 1986 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent. She had a distinguished career in the Force for nearly 36 years before retiring from the Force in October 2021 as the Deputy Chief Police Officer of Kuala Lumpur. Her achievements during her tenure in the Force amongst others included :- i) the first female Head of Special Branch in Petaling Jaya Police District (1998); ii) first Chinese female with the rank of Senior Assistant Commissioner (2009); iii) first female Special Branch Chief of Penang Police Contingent (2015); iv) first female Assistant Principal Director of the Malaysia Special Branch (Economic Intelligence Division); and v) first female Deputy Chief Police Officer of Kuala Lumpur. During her tenure as a professional police officer, she gained immense experience in fields of investigation, prosecution, administration, anti-human trafficking, international security liaison, research & analysis, training and personnel management in police precincts of various states such as Perak, Selangor, Penang and Bukit Amans head precinct in Kuala Lumpur. She was also commissioned as the Chief VIP Security Team involved in the security details for the Prime Ministers' international excursions.
