Who said LKT is a prodigal son? I think LKT, like ATK, made a well calculated risk-return bet on Taurx Pharmaceuticals Ltd. ATK went in Taurx at US$0.125B valuation. LKT went in Taurx at US$0.56B valuation.

TauRx is the biggest drug story success of the 21st century. Against all odds. Soldier on with courage and determination. Finish up that phase 3 trial and show the AD field that Science is proven in clinical trials, not in politics.

The Phase 2 trial …. 321 patients with an earlier version of the drug showed a 90% reduction in the rate of disease progression over two years.
The result was supported by functional brain imaging.
(Imaging identified the regions within the brain known to be affected by Alzheimer’s neuropathology that were protected by the drug)
…. “reduce clinical decline and brain atrophy by about half over 12 months”
Phase 2 results were already highly significant!

Thats the "REMBER" phase 2 trial completed somewhere in 2008 under the first generation drug formula MTC. But MTC formula is highly inefficient and did not work well at high dose. The 2nd generation formula HMTM is very efficient, 60 times the absorption rate into our blood brain barrier compared to the same dosage under MTC formula. Too efficient until the placebo 4mg twice daily was actually an active dose. Both arms of trial patient groups receiving active doses. Hence Taurx failed their Phase 3 trials back in 2016 due to dosage issues. Cost us USD200m plus a 6 years delay in re-trial.

I hope Taurx can a slot to present at AAIC San Diego. Claim the victory in USA soil at the amyloid camp's HQ.

In the late 1980s, Professor Claude Wischik and his teacher at Cambridge Professor Sir Martin Roth already knew Tau is the driver of AD and not Amyloid. They have a mini brain bank in their Cambridge lab, abt 300 donated brains from deceased patients. Slice up the brain cross section and study it under microscope. All the results clearly show that brains with tau tangles were demented as per the health record of the deceased, brains without tau tangles were not demented. This is against the theory of the most widely accepted Amyloid hypothesis. Amyloid deposits are inconclusive whether the patient is demented or not. There are patients with brain full of amyloid but not demented, there are patients with no amyloid in their brain but they are demented.

Late 1990s, Professor Claude discovered a compound called methylene blue is able to dissolve tau tangles very effectively. From late 1990s to 2022, it took us abt 25 years to prove the effectiveness of this drug compound in a phase 3 trial. A quarter century!

These days we don't have to slice up donated brains and look under microscope. The huge advancement in brain PET scan technology on life patients clearly concludes that spreading of Tau tangles is the main culprit and driver of AD. In the face of these hard facts and truth, we still have the vast majority of the clinical trials devoting to targeting amyloid deposits, still in denial that Tau is the main culprit of AD.

We are the pioneer of Tau based treatments in the AD field and TauRx is truly light years ahead of all the competitors. I will expect naysayers from the amyloid hypothesis camp to continue to discredit us. They will also come up with something like "targeting tau looks ok, but targeting both tau and amyloid will work even better". Of course the amyloid camp professors will try to save their livelihood even with hard facts that show their decades of neurology studies / expertise are total rubbish and won't work. If amyloid theory is correct, they would have come out with a drug that can work long ago. Politics at science is delaying the advancement of AD research, hence we haven't got a drug that can work...... until yesterday's phase 3 clinical trial result.

This is the only phase 3 trial which can see significant slowdown in decline for a disease modifying AD drug. Nobody has done it before and nobody is able to do it for the next 10 years. The smaller the trial population, the harder it is to show statistical significance. Hence those iffy drugs done by large pharmas will try to do very large patient size trial to improve the statistical significance score. Before we do the clinical trial design, we already have an estimated drug performance benchmark using knowledge from previous clinical trials. Then need to show it in a new clinical trial by powering it with the number of trial patients using computer simulated graphs. Our earlier computer simulation estimated abt 400 patients is sufficient to show strong statistical significance figure due to the extremely powerful drug effect of HMTM. To be safe, increase the patient population by 25% to 500 patients.

Further cost cutting measures such reducing the number of trial centres by half can yield significant cost savings and allowed us to increase the patient population to almost 600 patients.

Taurx 0.7% shareholder here. Dont badmouth my company. This drug is the real deal. The first disease modifying drug that can significantly slowdown disease progression in a phase 3 trial. I can talk a lot of Alzheimer’s drug industry landscape, tau vs amyloid theory, taurx valuation, competitors, etc. I know the real valuation of taurx.

I know a lot of trial patients and their care givers. I even search thru blogs and online to contact overseas trial patients to find out how they are doing. I even recommended local patients through their care givers to enrol into Taurx's local compassionate program. Almost all the patients see very good results.

When tens of millions are on the line, better make very very sure the groundwork study is solid before putting the money down.

After a huge rally and expectations for good Q1 result is high, the risk of a sharp drop becomes higher. I have to manage my risk and position size. If Q1 result is stunningly good and price rally higher, heng ah. If Q1 result below expectation and price drop, heng also and quickly exit the balance. Safety always come first for me. The market will always be there to make the next investment or trade. But I have to make sure I survive (protect my precious capital) and doing ok (making more money than lose) in order to capitalise on the next opportunity the market offers.

Our opinions on the Q1 result are not important. The market's opinion on the Q1 result is the most important because in stock market, the market is always right. Tmr and Fri we will know what is the market's opinion.

GenP's 2021 Q4 net profit after tax n minority interest was rm161m. 2022 Q1 figure is rm116m. Average price of CPO in Q1 was abt 30% higher than in Q4. But net profit dropped by almost 30% compared to Q4. This Q1 result for GenP is way below my expectation :(
