There are other pending events that may happen to Jaks but may or may not happen in 2019.
1. The solar power investment in Vietnam
Malaysia’s Jaks Resources Bhd. and China Power Engineering Consulting Group Co., Ltd., that are building a 1,200 megawatt (MW), $1.87-billion coal-fired power plant in the northern province of Hai Duong, are seeking more power projects in other provinces in Vietnam, with a focus on the renewable energy segment.
Renewable energy is still in its infancy in Vietnam, due to its high costs and weather conditions in certain areas that are not conducive to wind and solar power generation.
“Aligning with our strategy, we will grow our power portfolio in Vietnam with a view to participating in the recent renewable energy drive in the country,” said Elaine Tai, general manager of Corporate Strategy at Jaks Resources.
In a recent visit to the southern province of Binh Phuoc, Haris F. Abdullah, representative of Jaks Resources in Vietnam, said that the firm plans to invest in a solar power project with the capacity of 200MW and total investment capital of $262.5 million, on an area of 240 hectares. The project would be divided into two phases, with the first phase boasting a capacity of 50MW and investment of $87.5 million, and covering 80ha.
Jaks Resources said it could develop upcoming projects in Vietnam alone or by forming a joint venture, depending on the size of the investment.

2. Disposal of Evolve Mall
On the proposed sale of its 51% stake in Evolve Concept Mall at Ara Damansara, Selangor, Ang said the group is still set on selling, but acknowledges that things have been tough in the commercial property market.
“The market [for commercial properties] has been tough. However we have seen improvement in the tenancy [rate] of the mall, which is currently at 60% [occupancy],” he said.

These events will drive earnings growth and improve company's cash flow and halt losses from property division.

If you have different rules for different occasions, then you might need more rules to define occasions. Otherwise, you won't know what occasion you are in and you may be using the wrong set of rules. Just a joke.
There is only one rule which is the king of all rules.
KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING AND BUY CHEAP

qqq3 people set rules to fit the occasion.....not the occasion to fit the rules...........

My article "Jaks Resources in 2019" has received little response. Not even posted on Jaks headlines............ I wonder who decides what to post on Jaks forum headline ?
Maybe many are more interested in short term trading than fundamental analysis ......

Why Jaks share price surged after the release of Q4 2018 results which posted the biggest qtrly loss in 2018 ?
It is because there were investors who can foresee what is ahead of Jaks in 2019 and beyond.

In fact, I m not too optimistic on the global financial health since the trade war broke out. That has been one of the criteria for consideration when screening my stock selection.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, Jaks is a rare one I believe will be little harmed, if all at.
Jaks Hai Duong power plant is protected by the PPA which guarantees fixed capacity payments for 25 years regardless of output level even if the plant is completely halted. The capacity payments will ensure that sufficient cash flow for loan repayments, maintenance, return of equity capital as well as a predetermined return on investments. I strongly believe the IRR will be between 12% to 18% given the low credit rating of Vietnam.
Vietnam is desperately expanding its power plan to meet the fast growing economy. The country is benefiting from shifting of manufacturing facilities to outside china due to the rapidly increasing labour costs. Vietnam, in close proximity, becomes an attractive alternative not only to the companies from the west but china itself.
The trade war between china and US will only hasten the shift.
Power generation has always been one of the most stable, non-cyclical and recession proof business worldwide.
Having considered the above, Jaks was and still is my only choice of equity investment for its safety and huge potential.

Most analyst worldwide are predicting a financial crisis looming in the next 12-24 months.
The timing will coincide with the initial operation of the power plant.
Any comment the company's financial & share price?

Yes. Nothing beats deep understanding. Strongest source of confidence.

"Management has indicated that the overall power plant is 46% completed, and their EPC portion at 40%, hence they believe that the plant is on track to meet COD by mid-2020 as per the PPA contract. We believe that Jaks would recognise around RM1.08bn of revenue from the remainder of the EPC contract in 2019 and 2020. The gap in the completion progress is due to the main contractor focusing its effort in the main boiler units as the machineries are already on site. Nevertheless, the contractors would also need to complete Jaks EPC work order before they can test the plant." - Affin Hwang
Jaks' EPC works are mainly ancillary works to the main structures which must progress concurrently with the main structural works albeit some timing differences in recognition of completion.
As the power plant is in machinery installation stage which constitutes a major portion of the cost structure of the power plant, it is expected to see major progress in billings in 2019.

Icon8888, it is a pleasure to know you too. However, labeling me as agent of ALP will only create doubts over information and analysis I have shared. It won't be good for the i3 readers in this forum.
I m not surprised that many here shared the same skepticism.
Most probably due to the enormous information shared by me so far as well as my sole focus on this one counter only.
Most will think the information shared by me are insider information. Believe me, none of them are insiders information. These information were all gathered online. However, in order to put these pieces of information together and form an opinion, you need to adequately equip yourself with sufficient knowledge about vietnam power landscape, the coal power plant technology, the foreign investment scheme in vietnam, the financing methodology, etc. You also need to know how to perform investment returns analysis such as IRR, payback period etc.
There are times when you need to have accounting knowledge to understand why certain corporate exercises are carried out.
In short, you need some background knowledge to perform analysis.
I m just someone who think Jaks is a multibagger story and willing to spend a lot time to build up my case. I m sharing my information because i believe sharing brings joys.

The entire company is worth less than RM300m. Instead of trying to fake accounting to siphon off money by creating fake invoices etc and risk yourself behind bars, isn't it wiser for ALP to just mop up as much shares as possible now and let the future profit takes the company to top 30 like Pmetal ? He gets to feel the joy of being the top 10 richest man here.

There were 2 bright spots in the latest results;
1. The progress billings in Q4 was the fastest so far signalling major advancement in the construction activities in vietnam
2. Stripping out the BG losses, the results was net profit of RM13m signalling a profitable 2019 as the progress billings in vietnam gaining momentum.

qqq3, I wish there were more billings so that it could show positive results. However, given that there was only 2% work done in Q3, 7.3% work done in Q4 is already very good performance, fastest quarterly billings so far, although it could not make up for the losses caused by the bank guarantee. A much higher work done may seem to be manipulative. Moreover, there is future performance to be taken into consideration. The progress must be gradually advancing according to the "S" curve.
Having said that, progress billings does not precisely coincide with actual work completion as billings can only be done after certification by engineers.
Nevertheless, stripping out the 25.5m BG losses, the company is actually reporting a RM13m net profit in Q4. Considered good given that around a quarter of the listed companies are reporting a loss in their latest results.
2019-02-28 19:14 | Report Abuse
Net Loss attributable to the shareholders of Jaks in Q4 was RM12.6m.
Without the RM25.5m losses from the bank guarantee, it would have been a Net profit of RM12.9m.
7.3% work done in vietnam EPC was recognised in Q4.
Marking a 39.5% total completion based on progress billing as at Dec 2018.
Profit margin maintained at 25%.
Good progress billing was recorded in Q4.

Is this RM42m entirely mall maintenance cost ? And how much of it is attributable to shareholders of Jaks ?
--------------------------
newbie8080 Quarterly for the mall maintenance cost.
You can refer to the 3rd quarter report.
It states 3 quarter cumulative at rm42 mil.
SO I can safely assume rm14 mil per quarter.

Investors are expecting a poor QR because of the RM25.5m losses from the Bank Guarantee payment to The Star. However, the progress billings in vietnam determines the end results.

Jaks has only recognised 32% completion rate for its vietnam EPC as at Sept 2018.
Management has indicated in early Dec 2018 that the vietnam plant completion was 41% as at Oct 2018.
Ang Lam Poah has indicated in early 2018 that the construction of the power plant is targeted to reach 50% by the end of the year.
http://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/jaks-resources-puts-property-amb...
If Vietnam power plant was 50% done by end 2018, it will record 18% job done in Q4 2018. At 25% profit margin, its revenue and profit from Vietnam will be RM340m and RM85m respectively.
