However, as i have said, why others buy or sell is really anyone guess. They may not be wrong or right about Jaks. So, we should just focus on the hard evidence and information that we have to come to our own decision. Relying on others here is especially dangerous because you don't even know who they are !!

Why aren't these fund managers and institutions selling now ? I don't think KYY can support the selling pressure.
2018-02-25 23:04 | Report Abuse
In March 2017, Jaks placed out 10% shares to fund managers and institutions in just 24 days, at RM1.36 which is a very high price at that point in time. These investors are definitely capable of making decisions for themselves. KYY couldn't have talked them into jaks. Why are they not worried that KYY hold too much of jaks ?
2018-02-25 22:59 | Report Abuse
Nobody is definitely right or wrong about jaks. Just put forwards credible arguments and let everyone here judge for themselves. Can't you just provide some strong fundamental grounds on why one shouldn't invest in Jaks. We shouldn't be influencing the investors via attack on KYY. His personality has nothing to do with Jaks.

I m only defending Jaks from unfair, bias and speculative comments. I m only putting forward facts, articles and news for everyone here to judge for themselves. I m not encouraging anyone here to buy and I aim to provide them with credible information so that they can make better decision, especially not to be mislead by hidden agenda.

Hahaha, you think anyone here stupid enough not to identify who are the one here with clear hidden agenda LOL

No confidence and yet holding on to the stock ??? I would be long sold and stayed away from this forum, certainly not posting any comments here anymore. Why wasting time in a stock that I m not interested in ?? LOL

I m not GOD either, I can't tell you that. I only know that once the power plant start operation, Jaks will shine.

Lengui, Jaks' futures doesn't depend on kyy, regardless of whether he buys or sells. He is not GOD, can't determine or manipulate jaks' fortune.

I m surprised by the persistency of the naysayers, determined to talk down this stock. It seems more like personal attack against KYY eager to see the him punished for calling others stupid. But keeps bringing up common risk factors which exist in every business and make them sound like bound to happen tomorrow, is undermining the intelligence of the investors here. Everyone here is well aware of investment risks, but are more eager to find out the prospects of the power plant. Investors here appreciate credible information on why the power plant, being so huge, can't make big money.

Business is all about risk and return. It is a matter of weighing the returns against the risks, is it worth it ? A lot of china funded projects in vietnam has been up running successfully. Maybe reading some articles on China-Vietnam economic relationship might help to understand more. Vietnam is too dependent on china economically, that is why right after the public riots against china in 2014, the top official immediately visited china to smooth out the relationship.

Bear in mind that the power plant is 75% debt funded. This high leverage amplifies the effect of 12% IRR on the 25% equity capital. That is how they turn seemingly double digits rate of return into tripple digit return !
2018-02-25 17:35 | Report Abuse
Do not underestimate 12% IRR, It made today's YTL power.

I think everyone is here because of the vietnam power plant. Jaks other businesses are nothing to shout about especially its property division now doing poorly. How big is 50m to jaks ? big enough to overshadow its prospects from the vietnam power plant ? I think not because Jaks' share price did not tumble when the news broke. Negative comments here might have caused some weak holders to dump their holdings providing others with opportunities to buy cheap. Jaks' US$1.87b power plant in vietnam is China's biggest single investment in Vietnam. It is DEFINITELY BIG. Big enough to change Jaks' future forever !

1200MW power plant operating at 100% can generate 10,512,000,000 kw/h per year but that is not possible considering downtime for maintenance. Normally, 72% plant load factor is the industrial norm. 8,000,000,000 (80亿千瓦) kw/h per year which is about 76% plant load factor is consider very good.

On the occasion of a transaction that changes a shareholder's status or interest as a substantial shareholder as defined in Sections 137-139 of the Companies Act 2016, the shareholder must use the appropriate form to notify the subject company (in the original) as follows
In the case of a company whose shares are quoted on a stock exchange, within three days after the person becomes a substantial shareholder (notwithstanding that the person has ceased to be substantial shareholder before the expiration of the notice period), acquires or disposes of voting shares, ceases to be a substantial shareholder in the company (Form 29-A); or
In any other case, within five days after the person becomes a substantial shareholder, acquires or disposes of voting shares, ceases to be a substantial shareholder (Form 29-A);
While the holder continues to own 5% or more of the voting shares before entering upon a new transaction, reporting is required for each change or cessation of substantial shareholdings within the time frame described above.

coecoe, you are right, Insiders with access to the PPA would definitely knows the answer. For others like us can only rely on certain parameters like payback periods, IRR, or "business sense" to assess the potential return of the project. Another way is to try to find out from a comparable project in vietnam like the Mong Duong 2 power plant which started operation in April 2015.

bluebiznet, I never agree to KYY computation of power revenue. You should have noticed that I never defended KYY. Your calculation is merely an estimation based on a % of the revenue. Sound fair but it is NOT how it works. There is this "capacity payment" which guaranteed return of capital and cost together with agreed return on capital. It is not based on revenue at all. I guess you are still waiting to buy LOL.

It is not difficult to see the hidden agenda behind all the irrational comments. Can't even comes up with one credible argument to weigh it down. Seeing Jaks as a rubbish company but still here talking about it. Instead of wasting time here, why not spend quality time in counters that meet your eyes ? It is obvious that investors here are smart enough to see the value in Jaks.

If investment is all about past experiences, for those with prior bad investments, should have stopped investing and deposited money in FD. Company that you invested in is just a company with business ventures. Not every company will succeed, some go bankrupt. For example, YTL Power is very successful but mudajaya failed. So, why only mention the failures ? In business world, even two identical business models may have differing results. Each company is unique and should be assessed individually, blunt comparison is meaningless.

To all the young and learning investors, never trust anyone in i3 in your investment decision. No one is really here to help you but themselves. You should learn to identify information which are credible. Arguments which are baseless should be ignored. Make your own decision. In this material world, no one owes you a living but only hope to make a living out of you. If you are unable to make sound decision, stay our of this brutal stock market. There is much higher chance of you getting hurt than making money. Remember, in stock market, either you learn how to fish or you will be the fish. KYY recommended Jaks and laid out grounds. Verify those information and make your own decisions and don't let his personality cloud your mind.

CEO Ang Lam Poah deserves a big credit for able to jump start the vietnam power plant which will change the future of Jaks forever, turning it into a company with stable stream of future revenues. Going into property development was a bad decision but that doesn't necessarily mean he will be wrong all the time. Closing the vietnam deal was his best achievement so far and that is enough to make Jaks a big winner.
