The only worry is whether the power plant can be completed in 2020......
2017-08-14 20:58 | Report Abuse
Hng33 is right. The construction profit is real even if it is actually agreed "commission" with CPECC. The profit will form part of the capital requirement used to arrive at the IRR agreed with the vietnam gov't. Eventually, the capital, including the construction profit, and the agreed investment returns will flow back to the JV over the 25 years period.

Hng33, I happened to see a comment from you this morning on the construction profit. It is no longer there. Did u remove it ?

accounting wise, Jaks still need to record the profit. The hard cash will start to flow back once the power plant starts to sell electricity.

I tried to answer question posted by supersaiyan3 but never made it to i3. My comment too sensitive ?? I merely said that the RM400m predetermined construction profit will make up part of the 30% equity in the power plant.

Management expects further provision for LAD of 15m to 20m which is relatively small amount. Besides, its other water and road contracts are expected to be completed prior to 2019.

There is still about RM350m construction profit from the vietnam power plant to be realised from 2017 to 2020 before the plant starts to sell electricity to VCN. On average there is about RM0.18 EPS per year from the power plant alone.

Is IRR of 12% for vietnam power plant too unrealistic ?
2017-08-11 20:02 | Report Abuse
The 1200MW coal power plant which costs RM8b is too big to fail. It can easily bring in RM1b in revenue upon completion. Jaks shares 30% of it. Considering it has less than 500m shares, the impact on bottom line is significant.

I can't say much for people who bought for short term trading, but there is long term significant value in the power plant which will materialise in 2020. Don't buy if you can't stomach the lengthy wait.

KYY bought 29%. Cannot depends on small fish like us to save him. Not even Ang Lam Poh can swallow that much. Maybe he can call in Warren Buffett.....

AES Corporation completed its vietnam Ming Duong 1240MW thermal plant in mid-2015. 6 months ahead of schedule. The plant contributed US$340m in revenue in 2016.

The last purchase made by KYY was on 28th April 2017 at RM1.65. So, KYY will only cross the 33% threshold after 28th Oct 2017 to avoid making MGO at RM1.65. As KYY is only 4% away, let the share price fall could be very dangerous for Ang.

"The Company has the flexibility to settle the remaining purchase consideration, subject to interest being charged in accordance to the terms of the sale and purchase agreement dated 5 March 2016 as disclosed in the circular to shareholders of Reach Energy dated 13 October 2016. As such, the termination of the Placement does not have any effect on the Acquisition."

I wish KYY could reveal more of his research information on the PPA. That would allow everyone to make informed decision on Jaks which could help to lure in investors. This is a much better way to promote Jaks than by telling story of feeding beautiful girls.

Management had earlier said that the potential recurring revenues could be as much as US$150m. This works out to EPS of about RM0.40 to Jaks
2017-08-09 20:30 | Report Abuse
Why trying to guess the mindset of KYY ? Why not trying to work out the potential recurring revenues from the power plants. Then we will know whether Jaks is worth its current price.

My opinion is that they are taking too long in upgrading the production facilities. Production bottleneck is their biggest problem now. Maybe they desperately need the funding from the private placement which is another problem for them. They can't seem to find any investors. That is probably why they are forcing down the market price to fix a lower price for the the placement shares. Hence, until they solve the production bottleneck, the company will continue to report losses.

Urfather, if I may interrupt. Concession is never about owning the underlying asset but the rights to the future cashflows which is all that matter. In this case, it is also not about whether the underlying asset is able to generate sufficient income to pay off its obligation. It is the undertaking from UiTM and its credibility that assures the certainty of the future payments.
