As Rosi can't vote, Only 18.4% is needed to block the deal. Of the top 30, which owns 78.5%, 10th to 30th shareholders own 15.4%, Only need another 3% from the balance 21.5% minorities. Rosi would have to give a very good special dividend to get the deal thru.

tksw, if you do not even want to read the announcements, that is fine. KYY said jaks is sure to make RM400m construction profit.

tksw, vietnam project is a simple investment. There is no need to guess and argue baselessly. Your view is not balanced, making all the incorrect negative assumptions. Investors can just check up the announcements by the company on bursa website to verify my statement. The company already invested RM200m in the project and balance RM400m will come from the construction profit. Any further capital requirement will be funded by china power. There is no further capital need from Jaks.

Jaks is raising funds for its malaysian project, not vietnam. Vietnam power project already has funding in place provided by 3 big chinese banks.

tksw, I suggest you find out more about the power project, including the guarantee by vietnam government, the PPA, and CSA agreements before commenting further. You should be more confidence after knowing that the project is well funded and protected from market risks including forex risks. Also, you will know that the project is guaranteed to make money. Then, you will not be so negative anymore.

Only a big special dividend can persuade the shareholders to agree to the deal.

Triplc is making about RM0.40 EPS, why sell at 7+ times PE to puncak and later buy into another business ?
2017-09-16 19:55 | Report Abuse
It needs approval from 75% of the remaining shareholders, excluding Rosali, to get the current deal approved. Anyone think the deal can get thru with no special dividend ??
2017-09-16 19:53 | Report Abuse
That is only if shareholders with total 81.5% ( including Rosali ) willing to waste the RM210m on buying a lousy business only to take advantage of the remaining minorities with only 18.5% shareholdings.

Internet made minorities smarter with information readily available. So everyone can judge for themselves whether a stock is a gem or garbage. If this stock is a garbage, fund managers would have sold down aggressively. Those who see value and are waiting for the stock to become dirt cheap may be disappointed. Investors Should Look at the Company's Business - Koon Yew Yin
Author: Koon Yew Yin | Publish date: Sat, 3 Jun 2017, 09:26 PM
Most investors are short term traders. They look at the quarterly announcements and the price charts but they do not examine what kind of business the company is doing.
For example, when JAKS reported losses in its annual accounts, most of the short term investors just dumped their holdings as if there was no tomorrow.

The RM7m LAD reflected in this Q2 could have already netted off the RM7m LAD returned by the government. Which means the expected RM20m LAD for 2017 could have all charged off.

Just look ahead and see how much Vietnam's power plant can deliver once completed. Even by management estimation of US$150m, which i personally think is understatement, Jaks' 30% share is already RM0.40 EPS. It is almost RM200m ! what does few millions of losses now means ?
