Do you guys even read the quarterly announcement? Revenue down. Profit up because of recognition of asset disposal. Whoever annualized the latest quarterly EPS would be a bobo to do so because it is not repeatable.

Ekovest is going big time into property development. According to my contacts in the property insustry,, Ekovest is in the process of finalizing the deal to redevelop a huge tract of land along Jalan Tun Razak.

Going back 2.30 is not impossible based purely on the sentiments. Ekovest have been going up for quite some time without undergoing significant correction. Also, the good news have already been out. EPF deal has been priced in from the run up below RM 2 to the current price.
One thing which concerns me a bit is the next quarterly earnings. Although when investing in Ekovest we should think long term, the quarterly earnings of Ekovest do dictate the short/intermediate price movement of the stock. Based on several resources that I read, last quarter was the peak billing of Duke 2 construction. Besides, if an investor read the quarterly report properly, bulk of the earnings last quarter came from revaluation of investment properties.
The next positive catalyst will either come from a) official announcement of special dividend b) securing additional huge construction project other than River of Life. And negative catalyst being the rise in borrowing costs as a result of US raising interest rates in the near future. Investing in Ekovest is not risk free, any spike in interest rate will make the company less attractive.

Many investors was enticed into L&G due to the net cash on the balance sheet. Now the cash is going to be walloped by the major shareholder and I guess net cash no more? So whats next for L&G value investors, explosive earnings growth for the company after acquiring developments in semenyih? Gawd bless L&G. No wonder the stock is undervalued. The market is so efficient.

Long term investors should read felicity's latest article on Ekovest expected value for the next few years. I see an euphoria in this stock. As what Jay stated, nothing goes up into the sky. (My bad on the IRR calculation as well) At RM 2.57, Ekovest is selling for RM 2.2 billion. The current market price has already exceeded the value of 60% Duke and is actually the expected value of 60% Duke in year 2019. When computing the value for Ekovest, it is important to include the property assets based on RNAV, construction assets and Duke 3 with a holding company discount. Hopefully WealthWizard may come up with his sequel about this for Ekovest.

It is so unfortunate that Ekovest good news coincide with US bad news of POTUS. Guess LKH miscalculated. Afterall, everybody including me predicted for a clinton win. When this presidency things cool down, I am confident Ekovest will march upwards.

If you keep going long with the mindset that market is going to crash, you can never hold on to your winning position and cut losses short. That is why you keep earning few cents on winning trades and lost bucks on losing trades. One tip for you cpteh.

Sell on strength. 50% of Gadang net profit comes from property developments sold during the hot years. Future property sales are unlikely to come online soon and margin is gonna be much lower. Gadang looks fully valued to me. In one or two years, its profit gonna crash at least 25% with or without MRT 2 contracts.
By Flintstones.
Never ever annualized the earnings of a cyclical company. Extrapolating the past into the future naively is one mistake that many investors succumb too. Many things tend to revert to its mean. Before holding Gadang, you must ask whether the profit margin is sustainable. Gadang net profit will never exceed its current peak for the next few years. You can pay 8x PE on Gadang. But if the profit crashes half, you are looking at a 16x PE.

Examples of undervalued holding company - Insas, Kfima.

Actually everybody with a knowledge of simple mathematics can point out that Ekovest is severely undervalued. I have seen and traded many undervalued shares in the past. Whether its real value could be realized depends greatly on the management will to share the profit with the shareholders. Thats why I fully support Ekovest decision to spin off its highway assets into REITS. If the management decided to do nothing and let the assets stay under a holding company, Ekovest real value will never be realized. EPF, of course, understood thr holding company discount. Thats why they invested directly into Kesturi instead of the holding company despite the latter being a cheaper entry. As a passive minority shareholder, we can only ride the trend.

Thank you for sharing. Gadang has a great construction arm, no doubt about it. But the problem with this company has always been its property arm with low unbilled sales. 50% of Gadang net profit comes from its property arm. With no significant property sales insight, Gadang profit is still gonna go down with MRT or no MRT.

I have a bad experience with young CEOs. I remember the hooha with Yilai. Same story. A young elitist background CEO came in, changed the ways the company operate and shareholders suffered.

Many are saying how WCT will inject its Paradigm malls in Pavillion Reits. This idea is flawed. First, Pavillion does not have money to undergo this exercise. Second, is DL that stupid to trade his ownership in Pavillion mall with Paradigm mall??

People got excited when DL paid above market price to acquire a controlling stake. I see no catalyst here. Just sell at open tomorrow. Remember E&O chairman bought some stake above market price as well at RM 2.90. Look where is E&O now. And this is DL we are talking about. Malton, GOB etc. When did shareholders ever benefit from his leadership?
