How is Trump making US great ? Other nations will shun its products. Imagine buying weapons systems fr US. The US can stop u from using the weapons systems by denying u the spare parts.

The important thing is : where is the switch? is it inside Trump's living room ? If it is, then there won't be many takers.

Of course this buffoon can leave WTO. And the politicians in US have no marbles to remove him even though he flout every law in the US. Most of the US politicians behave like clowns and are all clueless.

Way back in 1980s, there was no internet. News of US allegations of Japan copying US products is not widespread. Some forumers have commented that they did not hear of news about allegations of Japan copying.

Here it is.

May 27, 2019 Stephen S. Roach

Back in the 1980s, Japan was portrayed as the greatest economic threat to the United States, and allegations of intellectual property theft were only part of Americans' vilification. Thirty years later, Americans have made China the villain, when, just like three decades ago, they should be looking squarely in the mirror.

“When governments permit counterfeiting or copying of American products, it is stealing our future, and it is no longer free trade.” So said US President Ronald Reagan, commenting on Japan after the Plaza Accord was concluded in September 1985. Today resembles, in many respects, a remake of this 1980s movie, but with a reality-television star replacing a Hollywood film star in the presidential leading role – and with a new villain in place of Japan.

The scenario that will emerge after Huawei shutdown.

Nations will now start to pursue technological sovereignty. Russia has announced it will built its own internet. China is already doing. Other countries are following soon.

Android will lose its dominance. Russia now has its own mobile operating system "Aurora". Aurora smartphones already exist in Russia.

As internet is US invention, all the base network keys are in US. Put it simply, if the light switch is outside the bathroom, somebody may switch the light off.

Huawei being a high tech company will do just fine without the American Android. About US chips, Huawei adopts 1 +1 policy. It adds one circuit to each US manufactured circuit. That means that won't be a problem either.

Trump did US a disservice. US companies will lose it huge market share in the world and their future positions will get even weaker.

Android used to be treated like the sun above us. Everyone has equal rights and is free to use without restrictions. But after US decided to switch off the sun for Huawei, others are beginning to wonder if they are next in line to be shut down.

IT means technology stocks in US are overvalued. These monopoly is starting to end.

China produces 90 percent of the world’s rare earth elements. About 1000 pounds of such materials are used to build a single F-35 jet. Were China to limit their export to the US, it could have devastating consequences to the US military.

Among his disciples, the instructor wrote the following poem :

Body is the Bodhi-tree
Mind is a clear mirror's stand
Diligently we keep cleaning
And let no dust alight

Meanwhile, his disciple, Hui Neng, who pound rice at the monastery's kitchen wrote

Bodhi has no tree
Clear mirror has no stand
Originally nothing,
Where is dust.

Knowing that Hui Neng has attained his True Nature, he was made the 6th Patriarch.

Prior to the CCP coming into power, maps published by UK shows most of the islands in South China Sea as China's territory. Only after the CCP came into power, maps published by UK no longer show the islands as China's territory.
China regards them as its territory but does not care about other lands outside this perimeter. That is its official stand.

Just days past, the United Nations General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to force the U.K., which colonized the islands during the Napoleonic wars and now controls them as a British Indian Ocean Territory, to return them to Mauritius, which achieved independence from Britain in the mid-1960s.

The nonbinding vote affirmed a ruling by the International Court of Justice earlier this year holding that “the process of decolonization of Mauritius was not lawfully completed when that country acceded to independence” and that “the United Kingdom is under an obligation to bring to an end its administration of the Chagos Archipelago as rapidly as possible.”

Just look at western hypocrisy. All along, I thought Hong Kong was the last.

China to give up communist ideology or not. Or pretend to give up to revive Huawei?

The important point is China today no longer exports communism. Its citizens today have lots of freedom including freedom to go abroad except political freedom. See Kishore Mahbubani 's view on China in UTube.
If China abruptly gives up communism , it would end up like USSR. As the country grow rich, it is able to discard communism.

Its dipute with Fox will take a long time to settle. With amendments to reinvestment allowance granted to them previously, there is a risk its earnings will be further hit, even though it has filed fro judicial review.

Britain sent its warship into the South China Sea to preach about international law but engage in land grab. Do you really think Falklands belong to Britain ? The law of the sea was drafted by western nations to legitimize their land grab.

Prior to the CCP coming into power in China, maps published in Britain shows most of the islands in the South China Sea as China's territory. After CCP came into power, maps published by Britain shown otherwise.

UK suffers major UN defeat over Chagos Islands decolonization

The United Nations General Assembly has voted overwhelmingly to condemn the UK's continued occupation of the Chagos Islands -- a humiliating defeat for London on its continued colonial legacy.
The Indian Ocean islands, which are home to US military base Diego Garcia, were separated from the former British territory of Mauritius during decolonization in 1968. On Wednesday, UN member states voted 116-6 for a non-binding resolution endorsing a decision by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that separation was illegal and calling for the UK to return the islands to Mauritius within six months.
Only Australia, Hungary, Israel, the Maldives and the US voted in support of the UK.

What IP theft ?? Like the former chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia, said " which sophisticated US multinationals are dumb enough to turn over core proprietary technologies to their Chinese partners ?" JV obviously entail a sharing of people, business strategies, operating platforms and product designs.

It is like ppl said Japanese workers give free overtime work. In reality, it is in exchange of lifetime employment. In China's case, it is in return for the successful penetration of the China market.

Must be very desperate for money to sell at IPO price @ RM 1.10. Other company's major shareholders would have provided support instead of cashing out.

Those who got a big slice sold off because the share price did not perform. They sold n got back their capital while the stabilizing manager is still around. Everything is a gamble. When I attended a workshop on futures trading, the pro advise us to sell first ask later if the promising technical signals did not perform. Same with shares.

yes, I bet you Trump makes tons of money manipulating the market.......

I am seeing this now. Trump probably knows that won't be a trade deal. Because what he wants is equivalent to the unequal treaties China signed during the Opium Wars. He says he will meet Xi. But I guess nothing will come out of it beyond the rhetoric " we will continue to negotiate".
We are probably heading for a hard landing in the coming months.
