How to tighten monetary policy in US ? It is QE forever in the US. They print too much USD. Now that China n Russia are not buying USD, it is the Fed that bought the USD printed by the Treasury. Like USD notes passing from the right hand to the left hand.
The Fed only talk about tapering its bond purchases. It means buying less and not stop buying.

in the past, when the KLSE spirals down, I remember Dr M said "Buy now!" and the KLSE went up. But we did the opposite, when he said "buy now", we said "Die now" and we sold off our stocks and make a big profit.
But those days are already long gone.

ah jigor also same.
In the past, the telcos are the pillars of the stock market. Whenever, KLSE drops, the telcos all inch up to save the day. Then came Jibby's out of the blues' spectrum fees increase to cover the big hole. All the telcos drop like shit. Maxis dropped from almost RM7 to RM4++, below its IPO price. Even Digi becomes a stagnant stock now.
How to save the stock mart ?

Because KLSE is in a sea of red. Hence, tutup. tutup.
In those days of the nineties, when we have no internet. Many bosses used teletex to watch share prices. One of my friends told me that one day his boss complained that teletex is not functioning. My friend told his boss "it is not functioning because KLSE is in a sea of red n they discourage u from watching the prices lest you would start selling".

Now, they say it is forced labour if u work beyond the stipulated hours allowed under the law. But, most workers including myself voluntarily did that. So, does volunteer to work beyond the stipulated hours consitute "forced labour"? All BS.

First they said Pfizer is the most effective. Then, suddenly Israel call for booster shots. If it is that effective, why need for booster shots ?
Now, Pfizer says they may need to make another Omiconn vaccine. So, why calling for booster shots now when nobody is sure whether booster shots are effective.
If things go on like that, you may have take vaccine after vaccine.

On the lighter side ... prediction for 2022 by HK's Raymond Lo
"Tiger is also a powerful “Travelling star” which will trigger many people to travel and move around. As such, it will bring back international travelling with tourism and airline business returning to normal after two horrible dead years in 2020 and 2021. This should be the most important aspect 0f 2022-meaning the pandemic is under control and the world starts moving again. "

it depends on how news channels report the results
If u compare the results of the last qtr with this qtr, profit dropped by 60%. The last qtr reported on 3 Aug , eps was 66.08 cts. This qtr, eps is 26.74 cts.
the news channels which reported an increase in profits are comparing this qtr with 2nd qtr 2020.

@apple168 - Genting is financially sound. Makmur Tax does not affect Genting. By the time, normalisation takes place, Makmur tax would be gone. That is when Genting is making big money.

I obtained breakdown figures for its revenue ; in 2020, management fees-308.6 million tax rate 24% tax app 74 million
in 2019, management fees 698.1 million tax approx 167 million
@emsvsi is correct, dividend income for Genting Bhd not taxable but management fees, lincesing fees ... are taxable.
All in all, Genting not much affected.

On offsetting unabsorbed losses, the subsidiary companies of Genting which incurred the losses will offset it with tax liabilities that they have. If it is a foreign subsidiary, then they can offset it with tax of the foreign country, a different set of tax laws but basically the same principles apply.
2021-10-30 17:47 | Report Abuse
Group accounts are all artificial. Since all Genting's subsidiary companies are limited companies, Genting does not have the means to touch their cash unless these companies declare dividends to Genting or pay licensing fees, management fees to Genting. All limited companies are separate legal entities. So the tax is actually on the dividends, fees... Genting receives. That is the reason why the law requires it to show also their results at company levels. It is the same for all other companies.

I would like to correct the above posting. Unless, its subsidaries increase their dividend payment, the profit at company level is probably the same as that in 2020.

That is for 2020. As for 2021, I can guess that at company level, it has probably made over 1 billion before tax. Its revenue is from dividend income from all its subsidaries n management fees from all its subisidaries.
That is why Genting is financially sound.

I looked into the chart from Elliott Wave lens.
Hiap Teik has already its 5 wave uptrend that started in 2020. The last wave 5, with all its overlaps, is an ending diagonal. An ending diagonal means "the train is returning to its station". The top of the last wave 5 is not able to go past the last wave 3 high, indicating a failed wave 5.
The ensuing correction is bound to be deep.

Evergrande crisis is nowhere near Lehman. The 2009 crisis in US is caused by sub prime. There is no sub prime in China. The western media is crying because a lot of their investors bought Evergrande bonds. Maybe those investors may lose. Every investor is responsible for his investment decisions.
Like the 1997 Asian crisis, those western funds which lost complained that laws in SEA countries are not good. They look at the markets solely from the western perspective. They kept buying while the Japanese are actually selling.

Juliana! Exactly! That's why China prevent this from happening! In a way, i think China did right by declaring atheism!
China is practising true secularism. That are lots of places of worship in China. The only difference is the state does not bring religion into its administration. The state does not propagate religion.
But ppl are free to worship since religion is private.
The building of places of worship needs approval from the state.Ppl cannot worship on the streets. No road side shrines are allowed.
I myself have been to places of worship in China. I also saw locals praying inside.

The answer is obvious lah
Top glove wanted to be in Fortune 500 the exclusive club of US domination. Even huawei also got kicked out
Supermax is still relatively unknown so little threat
As for Esg on gloves and palm oil US should banned its cigarrete and weapons export
Gloves protect lives and palm oil is food while cigarrete cause cancer and pollution and weapons kill people
I totally agree with you. US economist, Richard Wolff, said there is no such thing as free trade. 'Free trade' is only used by US for PR purposes. The US uses other weapons such as 'human rights', 'ESG'..etc against others when they cannot compete.
Maybe, TG boss thought US is a beacon for 'free trade'.

Never hold long term for Msia stocks
cannot play long term in Msia stocks , you will loss money or back to square 1 after many years holding
MSIA & USA is different
Msia dont have competitive advantage
Agree! As I look back, I am happy that I sold all my entire holdings of Maxis at 6.35 even though I should have sold at 6.85. But I was blinded by their dividends until Jibby gave the telcos his ultimate shock treatment. Like Keynes said: "in the long term, we are all dead".

How can KLCI rebound with all these 'makmur tax' n worst of all, dividends companies received fr its overseas subsidiaries will be taxed.(with lame excuses - Singapore did better on this issue)? Then increase in stamp duties without cap.
Maybe, the gomen should be reminded that performance in KLSE is a reflection of their performance.
