Sapura Holdings gets winding-up petition from shareholder https://theedgemalaysia.com/node/728474
Sapura Holdings and Sapura Energy Berhad (SAPNRG) are related but not the same company.
Sapura Holdings is a private investment holding company with diverse interests across various industries, including oil and gas, telecommunications, and property development. It is own by the 1st Generation of Leaders – Tan Sri Shamsuddin and Team. This holding company cannot last due to non stop family fued.. family tak sepakat macam orang Melayu. It's started to wind down since last year.
Mabel's interest is in Sapura Energy’s National Assets. Sapura Energy Berhad (SAPNRG), on the other hand, is a publicly listed company on Bursa Malaysia. It specializes in integrated oil and gas services and solutions, covering the entire upstream value chain. This company is run by 3rd Generation Leadership – PNB and Team.
So, while they are connected through their shared history and ownership, they operate as distinct entities with different focuses and structures. Their family fiasco should not affect SAPNRG's current debt restructuring exercise..

#sg999 Dividen coming on NOV. What is your guess mabel? 0.16?

It's possible sg999...
Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) has a consistent history of paying dividends. Here are some highlights from recent years:
2023:
Interim Dividend: 0.1259 MYR per share (yield: 5.25%)
Second Interim Dividend: 0.0422 MYR per share (yield: 1.76%)
2022:
Interim Dividend: 0.104 MYR per share (yield: 4.33%)
Second Interim Dividend: 0.034 MYR per share (yield: 1.42%)
2021:
Interim Dividend: 0.1093 MYR per share (yield: 4.55%)
2020:
Interim Dividend: 0.126 MYR per share (yield: 5.25%)
2019:
Interim Dividend: 0.16 MYR per share (yield: 6.67%)
BIMB has shown a strong commitment to returning value to its shareholders through regular dividend payments
When comparing Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) to other banks in terms of dividends, here are some key points to consider:
Dividend Yield: BIMB has a relatively high dividend yield compared to many other banks in Malaysia. For instance, its recent dividend yield has been around 5-6%, which is quite attractive for dividend investors.
Consistency: BIMB has a strong track record of paying consistent dividends over the years. This consistency can be appealing to investors looking for reliable income.
Comparison with Major Banks:
Maybank (Malayan Banking Berhad): Maybank is known for its high dividend payouts, often yielding around 6-7%.
Public Bank Berhad: Public Bank typically offers a lower yield compared to Maybank and BIMB, usually around 3-4%.
CIMB Group Holdings Berhad: CIMB’s dividend yield is generally in the range of 4-5%.
Sector Performance: The overall performance of the banking sector can influence dividend payouts. Banks with strong earnings and growth prospects are more likely to maintain or increase their dividends.
Economic Conditions: Macroeconomic factors such as interest rates, inflation, and economic growth also play a significant role in determining dividend policies.
Overall, BIMB stands out for its relatively high and consistent dividend yield, making it a competitive option among Malaysian banks for dividend-focused investors.
As always trade at your own risk..

DneX try to capitalise on Google’s announcement this week, unfortunately it was a one day show. The excitement just cool down as everyone is still busy with Mulan..
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Google held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday at The St Regis Kuala Lumpur to commence the construction of its first data centre in Malaysia at Sime Darby Property Bhd's (KL:SIMEPROP) Elmina Business Park in the City of Elmina township, Selangor.
The hyperscale data centre will be built according to Google’s customised specifications and infrastructure requirements. It is targeted to be completed in early 2026 and will be operated by Google upon completion. Located in Elmina Business Park, the park is designed to support the digital economy with infrastructure such as large-scale water and energy solutions. It expects to attract data centres, large-scale manufacturers, and small and medium enterprises. About 35,000 job opportunities are expected to be created upon the park’s completion in 2035.

This week $BIMB (5258.MY)$ has launched the second tranche of its RM5 billion sukuk wakalah program, totaling RM250 million. This additional tier-1 capital sukuk wakalah, which has a perpetual non-callable period of five years, received a long-term rating of A3 from RAM Rating Services Bhd. The funds raised from this issuance will be allocated towards financing the bank's general working capital needs and other corporate purposes.
Two years ago I subcribed to BIMB 1st Tranche RM5.82 billion sukuk wakalah to support our Islamic Bank after evaluating the Bank using Warren Buffett Economic Moat and Risk Analysis Framework using Jitta, this algorithm calculates BIBM Business Performance includes Earnings, Free Cashflows, Return on Equity, Net Profit Margin, Interest Coverage and Dividends over the last 10 years. On a Scale of 1 to 10, it gives a score of 5 which is below Buffet Business School recommendation above 7 to make a viable Business Investment.
Despite below Par rating Mabel decided to invest on the 1st Tranche Sukuk since almost all pilgrim who goes for Hajj and Umrah will use BIMB as Tabung Haji are not allow to handle banking services in Saudi Arabia (new regulation). Hence BIMB has become TH preferred bank to serve the pilgrims.
As a shareholder of BIMB, the issuance of the second tranche of its RM5 billion sukuk wakalah program can be seen as a positive development. Well Done BIMB!

The Groups have to make provision for Foreign exchange loss despite great progress. The Group reported a loss after tax and minority interests (“LATAMI”) of RM5 million in Q2 FY2025, compared to RM43 million of profit after tax and minority interest (“PATAMI”) in the corresponding quarter of the previous year (“Q2 FY2024”). Foreign exchange losses totalling RM101 million, primarily due to the depreciation of the US dollar against the ringgit, weighed heavily on the Group's results. Excluding the effect of foreign exchange losses, the Group’s Q2 FY2025 adjusted PATAMI is RM96 million.

The strength of the RM is on an uptrend based on the technical chart. It looks like the appreciation of the RM is too fast and too soon, which may cause more problems for exporters to do business.
I strongly believe it would be beneficial for BNM to reduce the interest rate by 25 basis points to moderate the strength of the RM. A gradual appreciation of the RM would give businesses enough time to adjust to this new phenomenon.
There are many advantages to reducing the interest rate by 25 basis points. Loan borrowers would have lower installments to pay, freeing up extra money that can be used to invest in property, the stock market, buy cars, etc. This extra spending would improve the Malaysian economy and further boost GDP.
I hope BNM will reduce the interest rate by 25 basis points soon, as it would help the KLSE to perform better.
Singapore has a unique approach to managing its currency appreciation. The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) primarily uses the exchange rate as its main monetary policy tool, rather than adjusting interest rates like many other central banks. Here are some key strategies they employ:
MAS manages the Singapore Dollar Nominal Effective Exchange Rate (S$NEER), which is pegged to a basket of currencies from Singapore’s major trading partners. By adjusting the slope, width, and midpoint of this policy band, MAS can influence the appreciation or depreciation of the Singapore dollar.
During periods of high inflation or economic recovery, MAS may allow the Singapore dollar to appreciate to control inflation. Conversely, during economic downturns, they might ease the policy to stimulate growth.
MAS often makes gradual adjustments to the policy band to avoid sudden shocks to the economy. This helps businesses and consumers adjust more smoothly to changes in the currency’s value.
By using these methods, Singapore aims to maintain price stability and support sustainable economic growth, balancing the needs of exporters and the broader economy.

Stocks closed higher to start the week and end the month, with all major indexes in the green for September at Wall Street.
Monthly gains: Dow up 1.85%, S&P 500 up 2.02%, Nasdaq up 2.68%, Russell 2000 up 0.56%, S&P 400 up 0.98%.
Q4 outlook: Historically the best quarter for stocks, with the S&P 500 typically increasing by over 4% and being up 80% of the time since 1950. Inflation continues to ease, and the focus shifts to the upcoming Employment Situation report.
Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s comments: Indicated two more rate cuts this year, totaling 50 basis points, which is consistent with previous statements. Stocks initially sold off but quickly recovered, viewing Powell’s comments as bullish. Chicago PMI and Dallas Fed Manufacturing Survey showed mixed results indicating a soft landing and no recession.
Malaysian KLCI was the best performing index this year until the Dragon wakes up last week in China with a strong Bazooka. Now the Chinese Index in Hong Kong and Mainland China has overtaken KLCI.
Fortunately KLCI valuation is still 14X against historical high at 16X to 18X. when KLCI was at the peak in 2018. Our economy is improving, Relative Stable Politics, Better expectation of corporate earnings in 2H, Foreign Investors positioning is still light.

EU cannot produce economical EV car yet tries to Ban China EV. India, Africa and South America have about 2.8 Bil population. They cannot switch over to EV without financial support from Rich countries ( both EU and US spend 1.3 Trillion in Ukraine war + more $billion to support Israel in Middle East). Hence they need more taxes for Gov machinery to function, donation to poor countries. Furthermore USA 35 Trillion Debt. Hence despite metreoric rise in EV adoption, Fossil is here is here to stay.
Indonesia has asked ExxonMobil to raise its crude oil production from 125,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 150,000 bpd by 2026. The The Cepu Block, Exxon’s flagship project in East Java, currently contributes around 144,000 bpd to Indonesia’s total oil production of 577,000 bpd. Increasing production is expected to help reduce Indonesia’s budget deficit and dependence on oil imports. Partnership and Development: ExxonMobil, in partnership with PT Pertamina EP Cepu and local government companies, signed the Production Sharing Contract for the Cepu Block in 2005.
Generally, the break-even price is the minimum price per barrel at which oil producers can cover their costs and make a profit.
For example, in the U.S., the break-even price for new wells in the Permian Basin is around $62 per barrel, while existing wells can break even at about $38 per barrel.
