Last year, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that artificial trans fats would no longer be found in snack foods, baked goods and frozen vegetables starting in 2018. With the ban, palm oil has been named the primary replacement.
“Our palm oil exports to the US have increased. This is a pleasant surprise because the US is known to prefer soybean over palm oil,” David said over the phone on Friday.

Last year q3 eps was 5 sen. This q3 could at least double.
High unbilled property sales.
Higher CPO price and tonnages.
No significant FX movement.
So three quarters ended 30/6 eps could be closer to 40 sen. Still another quarter to run for FY2016!

"Chen said that MKH is also considering teaming up with a listed partner to tap into the downstream business, producing edible oil, by this year. The group is also eyeing opportunities of buying cassava farms in Indonesia to enlarge the group’s agriculture portfolio and provide the opportunity to export cassava to other countries, including China, in future."

This was what announced in 2008 when MKH acquired the land.
"The Land covers an area of approximately 15,942.60 hectares. The Land is generally flat with very slight undulation and the soil and climate conditions are suited for oil palm cultivation. The Land has 2 small rivers passing through and is ideal as a source of water for the future oil processing mill. In addition, the main river known as Sungai Mahakam provides an ideal transportation mode to ship out the crude palm oil. Currently, the Land comprises mainly of ‘belukar’ and shrubs and progressive clearing of the Land for the planting of oil palm trees is in progress. Currently, approximately 80 hectares of oil palm nursery has been established.
PT Khaleda has also engaged a professional plantation managing firm to assist in the plantation development of the Land in addition to its own management team comprising of personnels with many years of experience in the oil palm plantation sector in Indonesia. The MKHB Group currently owns and manages several hundred acres of oil palm plantation in Peninsular Malaysia with its first venture in year 1995. In addition, the Executive Chairman of MKHB has more than 18 years of experience in managing oil palm plantation."

MKH received the government grant RM11.7 million in Q1 December 2015 only. Don't think it receives again in Q2 March 2016. So the PBT margin in Q2 should be higher than 17% as mentioned.

0214 GMT [Dow Jones] The rally in crude palm oil prices due to weather extremities may resurface into the year end, says OCBC in a note. "Wetter-than-usual weathers in Asia may be seen in 4Q16 which would once again prohibit production." OCBC keeps its year-end CPO outlook at MYR2,800 per ton as weather extremities and lower production should take form into the latter part of this year. Still, downside risk to its forecast exists, especially if poor demand persists. Benchmark palm-oil futures for October delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange ended 28 ringgit higher at MYR2,306 per ton on Tuesday. (lucy.craymer@wsj.com; Twitter: @lucy_craymer)

Good news to property! BNM may cut OPR again.
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia--Inflation in Southeast Asia's third-largest economy likely softened in June, due in part to unchanged retail fuel prices and a higher base last year. The consumer-price index, Malaysia's main inflation gauge, likely rose 1.8% in June from a year earlier, according to the median forecast of seven economists polled by The Wall Street Journal. Inflation in May climbed 2.0% from a year earlier. Malaysia, which has been grappling with softer prices for its oil and gas exports since 2014, is also facing softer domestic demand. On Wednesday, the country's central bank unexpectedly cut interest rates for the first time in seven years, in a bid to maintain economic stability amid global uncertainties.
