yes they can... but why would they want to keep the price low? if one has lots of funds to invest, it would only make sense to invest in companies that can increase their values, and therefore the returns to shareholders, including themselves...buying shares and using their funds to push the price down does not make sense...no?

sieng1987 its people that matters. if no people touch warrant then bank cant do anything. however, out of greediness, people will still do so, why blame bank?

i am writing to you again with regards to the above.

we have just witnessed the astronomical results reported by Top Glove yesterday in their 1st quarterly report that showed revenue of more than 4.7 billion and a profit of more than 2.3 billion QoQ.

However, as also witnessed on the stock movement yesterday. The share price of the stock went into the negative instead. How does a normal investor make sense of such occurrence? is it because of structured warrants that are going against the natural progression and reflection of a company's performance. or are there insider trades that are happening that are not made public? A simple and quick observation on these structured warrants will show you that with each expiring warrants that is due, the mother share price appears to be tweaked to disallow the natural reflection of the company's worth? in other words, the price is being manipulated. A warrant is issued on a particular company share, so it is logical that the issuer, in this case, i'm referring to investment banks, will hedge that share to make sure it doesn't lose money and therefore will trade to market move the share price. And if a substantial shareholder of any of the promoter group trade in that share, would they not need to disclose? where is that information?

How can therefore an honest retail investor or for that matter any genuine investor be it local or foreign, feel assured that whatever investments they make on Bursa companies are truly protected by fair practices.

I'm sure i am not the first person to make such a query. There are countless comments on forums that question the legitimacy of these third party issuers of structured warrants that are not only hurting the company's fair value but also cheating the unknowing investors out there. I'm sure you are aware that such structured warrants or CFDs are already banned in many countries.

Is it any wonder that some of these companies are looking to dual list their companies in other stock exchanges to avoid such manipulation of their share prices?

You say "an informed investor is a protected investor" I would like to stay informed and protected.

pBlue The last large warrant to mature in the money is in February (only one). By April, the excision price and excision ratio will be so high that warrants will not longer have the pull to affect TG mother share.

IB have already re-calibrated their warrant ... so it is back to normal, ie warrant holders have almost no chance to expire in the money and if it does, the high ratio means IB doesn't have pay much money or sell many mother shares.

It also means the good times of holding warrants would have ended.

NICE to know that... but then it is still very unfair of them to keep pressing the mother share price to achieve their objectives, no? even ruberex are now seeing structured warrants.....and i'm sure the share price will be tweaked around expiry time to suit the issuer..., no?

and we wonder why after showing astronomical results, the price went negative yesterday? and is being kept roughly at current price..it aint going to move until all the warrants are done with....so far the last warrant is sep 2021...LOL

Morpheus61 People invest in the Stock markets to earn money. The stock markets are not meant for the benefit of Investment Banks. They are PRIMARILY Investor's platform. The Investment Banks are only enablers and since they also need to make money, they are allowed to. But to put the Common man to distress and to hold the entire stock markets to ransom is not acceptable.

we are all being butt-*ucked by these IBs. this is the reason why the share price will not reflect the true value of the company...go check each and every structured warrant that is due or going to be due..do some calculations, u can roughly make a guess as to what price the share will be 5 days before the warrants expire...
