Profit still above pre-pandemic level. Doing better than I've expected. Consider adding more.

If China attack Taiwan, US and EU sanctions alone is enough to cripple China, no need to release a virus. Even without US and EU sanctions, the sheer scale and manpower needed to start and finish a war will put a severe strain on its people and the economy. This is not the same as fighting the Japanese 80 years ago, many Mainland Chinese are unwilling to fight with the Taiwanese (who are ethnically Chinese!)
A year ago I would have laughed at the idea of China invasion of Taiwan. While I have no doubt that China will win the war, the cost greatly outweighs any benefits. But when I look at China's determination towards pursuing a zero-Covid policy at any cost, taking over Taiwan at any cost seems more likely than I thought. I pray that such event will never happen in the near future.

China continues to shoot itself in the foot with their 'dynamic zero' Covid policy. Let's say China successfully achieve its zero Covid goals, what next? The entire world is already living with Covid, for better or for worse. Are they going to continue to hermetically sealed itself off from the rest of the world? Or "declare victory" and change strategy and gradually open up? If they decide to open up 'later', why not open up now?

Yeah some people here are concerned that tech stocks are overvalued. Overvalued if you bought it at peak price in late 2021. But since then there has been two/three major price corrections, I would say it is probably closer to its fair value. Lot's of naysayers cakap ayam here. Ignore them, they are doing it for the laughs, sick people. I do my own research, look at their numbers, read IB's recommendation, and see how it fits in my portfolio. Those trolls here don't fazed me.

@choysun, well if you checked the previous quarterly results, one was in late April 2021, the other in late May 2020, and in early June 2019. If it comes out next week, consider it early.

With Nasdaq falling the past few days, I am not surprise that M'sian tech also falls. Depending on how much Greatech falls, may present a long-term accumulation strategy. Currently plantation and chemical counters are doing quite well. May consider selling some off to accumulate tech. Wait and see.

I think when MPI dip below RM30, can start to collect for long term. Dip below RM25 even more of a bargain. Let's see how price change next week.

Aiyaa, maybe too optimistic with semiconductor. Nasdaq kaput, our tech also kaput. Just wait for US tech to recover, apa bisa buat le

Harta's QR should come out in another two to three weeks time.
This week Shanghai is resuming production for several hundred companies. Unfortunately they will have to work and sleep in the same compound.

@nelsonlim Unless the HK fund manager is a the member of the politburo, nobody really knows what goes on in the upper echelon of the Chinese government. Yes there are many hearsay that Shanghai is a stronghold of opposition party, but if you look at previous lockdown experiences in Xi'an (2021) and currently in Changchun (ongoing for more than a month) and many parts of the country, they are really serious with the "dynamic zero" Covid policy.
Still I completely agree with you that they should adapt a more flexible policy for the sake of their economy.

Recently had a chat with a HK fund manager, be it true or not, China is coming with their own covid-pill like Merck US, they will only open borders to all when this covid pill is proven effective.... Of course many hearsays Shanghai is an stronghold of opposition party hence the lockdown.....
Be it whatever reason, I really hope China can adopt a more flexible approach to tackle Covid than zero covid policy

@Tobby Depends on where it is shipped. Most likely from Guangzhou, then it is business as usual lah.

Strangely, things that i ordered in China move super fast even with lockdown! Where as things i ordered in Malaysia move like forever! Haix, nowadays our productivity is so bad, you can order from a seller 5km away only to get your parcel 10 days later!

@stockfreak Doesn't seem very likely. Right now new cases are reaching its peak around 20K++ cases a day (asymptomatic and symptomatic). Cases may fall in the coming weeks but unlikely to reached zero Covid in May. Probably mid-June if things goes as planned. Still by May parts of Shanghai should open up while more serious cases remained under lockdown.

According to insider tips, Shanghai covid new cases will go down dramatically. Zero covid will happen in May.

Not a good day for semiconductor. Maybe long run got hope, but short run depends on Nasdaq loh (which is no good). On the other hand, pchem is doing quite well.
2022-04-16 18:56 | Report Abuse
@New_Investor92 still not to late to buy a little bit. If it trends up, untung some, if it trends down, cut loss. Been holding Pchem for the past year, and partly covers losses in tech and gloves. Pretty good I'd say :)

If IB predictions are correct, why worry about current downtrend? MPI price fluctuates a lot. One day top of Bursa, other days at the bottom. Too bad I don't have the kupangs to buy the dip, lol.

Been missing out on the tech drop. With Nasdaq dropping in the foreseeable future, manipulator rr88 must be tickled pink with his so-called "accurate predictions". More like "broken clock prediction", lol.

Heineken used to reached up to RM30, ada potential. Used to hold this counter, but when PAS comes to power, kita tau lah haha. If those meddling politician stay out of our choice, HEIM can grow.

@wallstreetrookie maybe you're right. If tech is trending up, no harm buying the dip. Of course not good in the long term. I don't trade very regularly, last trade was two weeks ago, lol!

No worries leh. If it drops to RM30, I'll accumulate more. Buying this stock last month at RM31 was a good decision :)

Hello friends ah, can help me a bit ah? I am in a bit of a dilemma here. On one hand, my remisier and most professional investment banks reports recommend me to buy this counter. And then when I read their financial reports, the company looks really solid, decent growth prospect. But on the other hand, some anonymous users with dubious intentions recommend me to sell this counter. Don't really know what to do lah. I think I better sell all, since these anonymous users have a such bad record at predicting price, they must be right this time, right or not?

@Anxious most IB analyst forecast gloves to be neutral. While glove counters are cheap, I don't expect price to move up anytime soon. We just have to rely on decent QR results or other external factors to push price up. My glove counters are safely tuck in the freezer, paying more attention to other industries.

@Pgraduate123 In that case, the same logic applies. Those who bought at RM4.7X last week/this week sell now at RM5.00
2022-04-01 12:50 | Report Abuse
If you bought at RM4.30 few weeks ago, there's a strong temptation to sell at RM5.00. Easy profit. As long as China continues with the zero-covid (or dynamic zero) approach, I am going to hold, even buy some with my pocket money later.
2022-04-01 12:44 | Report Abuse
Agree with @HK_Trust, China's zero-covid or "dynamic zero" policy is putting a strain on their manufacturing, sales and distribution operation of gloves. Worse of all Omicron BA.2 is one heck of a virulent virus. Once a few people gets a positive result, the only way to ensure a zero covid is to lock down the entire city. Imagine the major disruption to the supply chain. One day it is business as usual, and the next day inkambing lockdown. I predict little change to their approach until October, when someone important makes a bid for the third term.

Agree with @Sharefisher, Genting was doing so-so in 2019 and the pandemic makes Genting bleed even harder. If Genting profit cannot recover to pre-pandemic level, then price will continue to stagnant below pre-pandemic level.

Want to influence Yinson price can wan. Day day pray to La Tok Kong hope price fall kuat2. Better yet, make a connection with a real La Tok (Datuk), let him short this counter kuat2.

Yeah of course, once your reached your target, no reason to add more. For me Yinson is around 5%. Don't plan to add beyond 10% unless it is flying to the moon :) Agree to keep a diversified portfolio. With the economy slowly recovering, doesn't hurt to invest a little in every industry.

@Calvin882 exactly had I have more spare cash available, would have bought more when it was at RM4.50, well few small lots is better than nothing average down a bit. Compare to the other stocks in my portfolio, this one is quite stable.

this counter quite stable. Buy the dip. 73% upside is a high expectation. Can reached up to RM6 also good enough
2022-03-31 15:11 | Report Abuse
I am okay with it trading sideways for now. There was a big upward trajectory in the past two weeks, naturally some will take profit. Apart from that I don't see a good reason to sell. All my other non-tech counters are doing so-so. No good reason to shift from tech to non-tech.
2022-03-30 17:51 | Report Abuse
@Pinpin jangan risau lah. It's tech counter, up fast down also fast. MPI either at the top or bottom of Bursa most of the time. I think MPI is slowly climbing up, so I continue to hold. If cannot take the heat, there are more stable industries, like banking. For example Maybank is quite stable and pay good dividend. Much safer alternative.

Yeah, ASP is expected to decline until April 2022 (next month), so expect two quarters of declining profit. While there is a fear component, I don't expect a large wave of sell-off, not like last year. Those who buy gloves now are in for the long term and know that they won't get rich anytime soon.

Harta should be at pre-pandemic profit level by the next quarterly result, hopefully at the high end of the profit range. If so, prices should remain comfortably above RM5. Despite all the negative news surrounding gloves, I am confident Harta and Kossan can eke out a decent profit margin.

@soon2795 it is interesting how we can reached two very different conclusion from the same statement. I am inclined to agree with @YourQuirkyWays29 here. I see a person who enjoys making people lose their money. People get anxious when they see prices falling and their first instinct is to sell it off. People like rr88 prey on a person's insecurities, telling people to jump off, and laughs when that person gets injured or killed. My best advice to you is to ignore their advice and refer them to the nearest psychiatrist.
Stock: [GREATEC]: GREATECH TECHNOLOGY BERHAD
2022-04-28 14:20 | Report Abuse
The world economy is still in a rough patch. Not sure if today's uptrend is sustainable. But I gotta agree with @IMwhatIM, very unlikely that Greatech will remain at current price. Should go up sooner or later. Good opportunity to buy the dip.
I know there's lots of naysayers urging others to sell. If you think this company has no future, sell and buy something else that make money. No point staying here cakap-3-cakap-4. I hold a dozen counters, but I don't go around urging people to sell in other counters.
