The problem with value investing (like Graham) in Malaysia is the lack of corporate governance and shareholder activity. The management is not under scrutiny by the public and neglects their shareholders. A prime example now is Insas.

Confirmed? What is the basis of your accusation?

if you don't want regret next time, just average down if you have the conviction

Weak holder can never earn money in the stock market...you should only invest after you have done a detailed analysis and have a strong conviction in the company you are investing in or else you will just follow the herd all the time

The logic is people don't believe in the management to distribute the assets to shareholders/ enhance the assets of the company. Whether is it a good or bad logic, it's up to your judgement

I am speechless, how do you even reply to someone that says money is not important anymore in an investing forum?

It's pretty funny how the board cannot see the fact that if they align their interests with shareholders, it will benefit them in the long run. The board now is in a situation where they cannot/wont dispose any of their shares due to it being not worth the price. By enhancing shareholder value, they can exit easier in the future and at a higher price as shareholder confidence is regained and a sell-off won't spook anyone. Unless I am missing the elephant in the room, I got no idea what is the management trying to do.

In the minutes, they stated that majority of shareholders at AGM was in agreement for a waiver right?
2018-05-24 15:58 | Report Abuse
I thought waiver for MGO was already suggested during previous AGM?

In the 10 years, have they ever generated so much cash in comparison to this FY? I only bother checking the past 5 year data, the answer is a big no. Note that they are even disposing fewer shares compared to last year and are gaining more dividend. Besides, if you know the nature of Insas business, you can make use of the "gyration".

it's a good idea to subscribe, people are throwing because of the general bad sentiment surrounding right issues. The company has good future prospects now, i just hope that there will be no cost overrun this year..

his mainly looking at profit growth prospect, Insas does have profit growth prospect. however, you need to average the earnings out in a few years period to compare because of the nature of Insas

Different investment idea for him lo, don't have to be so rigid.
2018-03-06 09:50 | Report Abuse
his rule is PROFIT Expectation, he predicts the profits growth in the future. however, insas is a little different from his usual companies as net profits fluctuates (Business nature)
2018-03-06 09:49 | Report Abuse
insas is in need of shareholder activism, not sure about LCTITAN

What if you buy for liquidation? Assuming they cannot find any business, there is still roughly 5 cents div incoming and the gap between their net conservative book value and market capitalisation is still so far off.
Side note, the prime land is valued in 1996. Taking into account inflation, the increase in land price is easily equivalent to the price you are paying for in market capitalisation.
The top 4 holds 60%+ of shares and they won't sell out at this dirt price, they might else call for liquidation and get a bigger chunk of profits. The only thing I could see going wrong in investing in Duta is that if:
1) The balance sheet is fake. Basically like those red chips companies.
2) The management does some funny business.
If everything goes within the legal boundaries, I do not see how the top shareholders and management can possibly screw the company up.
