hi sklyte. even if we are being conservative at PE 10 and annualized EPS of 28sen, it should be trading at least RM2.80... of course if you are looking to make 100% gain in short term, this is not the right counter for you.. but fundamentally, it is very strong and I expect it to trade >RM3.00 after they release good results for upcoming quarters in 2016...

company has started share-buy-back activities in June. These are signs of:
1) Company management thinks the current share price is cheap and undervalued, so they buy back at low cost
2) Company management is confident and optimistic of coming quarters results so they buy back before the share price goes up (sure the company management knows more insiders news/business performance than us right? ^^)

below is the prospect as outlined by Pansar management:
Commentary on prospects
In Malaysia, the new minimum wage come 1 July 2016 will particularly impact the SMEs and businesses with large unskilled labour
force with possible trimming of work force. However, financial markets are comforted by the smooth transition in the governorship
of the Central Bank of Malaysia and are confident of strong leadership and policies into the future.
Following the successful conclusion of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Election and the announcement of numerous
infrastructure and rural development projects in the State, we should see significant governmental spending in the next few years
leading up to the federal election. However with the volatile foreign exchange and expected weak commodity prices, the overall
economy in general for the rest of the country and region may remain soft.
Thus, Pansar is hopeful of enjoying the spin-off from the state and federal spending which will see some robust economic activities
in Sarawak. The Group will continue to streamline its business and concentrate on sector which it has good knowledge and
experience in along with stringent efforts in keeping cost under control.
Opportunities will continually be explored and weighed to strengthen the Group’s ongoing businesses with emphasis on improving
and expanding our service network and solutions to bring us closer to our customers.

gohpc, please see the prospect as outlined by Pansar in their latest report.. Pansar management has been very conservative and careful in making their remarks for the prospect but it is clear to us that after the sarawak state election, mega projects will kick in and benefit these players in the next few years.. u dun see it happen right now but in 1-2 years down the road, u wont be surprised if their revenue and profit double, triple or even quadruple... just my 1.5 cents, haha

Hi Icon, one more comment: even if you take into account of the w/o forex EPS of 3 sen this quarter, please note that last quarter EPS (w/o Forex) is only as low as 1 sen. Will this quarter result be repeated? Your assumption is yes = 4x3=12 sen... but I personally think it is more reasonable to estimate 1.5-2sen EPS per quarter...

let me make another remark: from the revenue vs net profit trend, it does not seem that they are in a linear relationship. In other words, you can notice that Mar2015 revenue was only 25.1mil but the net profit was 1.8 mil / while Sept 2015 revenue was much higher at 34.7mil but the net profit was only 1.3mil. The question here is... can the 2.8mil net profit be repeated in upcoming quarters? i think it is more practical to assume EPS of 6 sen full year (about 1.5 sen each quarter)... having said so, current price of RM0.765 is showing PE ratio of 12.75 which is not low... pls look at its historical price for past one year...now it is trading at all time high... used to be only RM0.275 (lowest) in past 52 weeks... I hope you don;t regret buying it back at RM0.71... to me, it has been very much "goreng'ed" by big guns since it was about 40sen half year ago... and i believe it is only worth RM0.48 (6sen x PE 8)... just my 2 cents...

Icon, sorry for the need to disagree with you again...
for the Bursa Main Board listing requirement, please see this:
http://biz.advertising.com.my/listing-requirements-bursa-malaysia.htm
it is actually:
To get listing in the Main Market, your company must provide a profit figure and uninterrupted profit after tax or PAT of 3 to 5 full financial years with an aggregate of a minimum of RM20 million and a minimum of RM6 million PAT in the latest full financial year.
That means not RM20million profit in a year (total for 3-5 years) and must have at least RM6 milion for the latest financial year... so your EPS of 14sen is not correct...

I have to agree with Veln82k6... during CNY periods, ppl tend to bet more...in fact, by comparing against Q1 2015, it is showing a sign of regression... Q1 2015, EPS = 6.4, Q1 2015, EPS=4.8. A sign of improvement or regression? You make the call... but I have to also concur with Icon that if you are aiming for good dividend yield, yes, you can consider this counter (but unlikely for share price appreciation in short term)

HSL eyes MORE contracts.....
KUCHING: Hock Seng Lee Bhd (HSL), which secured two mega road construction and sewerage contracts worth some RM2.45bil recently, has tendered for an additional RM500mil worth of projects.
Corporate affairs director Sonja Gan said the company was awaiting the outcome of its bids for several infrastructure projects in Sarawak.
Under the 2016 budget, the Sarawak government has allocated nearly RM6bil to fund development projects such as roads, the supply of treated water to rural communities and drainage.
“Tendering (for contracts) is an ongoing process at HSL as we still have the capacity to do new jobs,” Gan told StarBiz, noting that the company’s current orderbook of RM2.7bil was the biggest ever since its listing on Bursa Malaysia in 1996.
In March, the HSL-Dhaya Maju Infrastructure (Asia) Sdn Bhd joint venture (JV) was awarded the Pan Borneo Highway work package 7 worth RM1.71bil. HSL has a 70% stake in the JV. Via a 75%-owned consortium, HSL also clinched an RM750mil contract for phase II of the Kuching centralised wastewater management system project.
Gan said these two mega contracts, which would stretch until 2022, would set the group up for strong growth.
She said the group typically had some 30 ongoing projects of varying sizes and natures in hand, though the number exceeded 40, including property development, at end-2015.
“Typical construction projects range from 18 months to three years. Our turnover rate has been consistent with projects in and projects out.
“HSL has a long track record of successful contract execution throughout Sarawak, and we have proven our technical merits and cost-competitiveness across a range of marine and civil engineering works.
“We are highly experienced and strategic in our planning and remain active in the procurement of projects drawn on our core strengths,” she added.
In 2015, HSL completed 16 projects while securing 21 new contracts worth a combined value of RM275mil. About 75% of the new contracts came from the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy region of central Sarawak. The contracts include the Balingian power plant’s administrative offices in the Mukah Division, Government offices in Samalaju, Bintulu, as well as water and road works associated with the Tanjung Manis halal hub.
On the Pan Borneo Highway package 7 contract, Gan said the project covered a 76-km stretch from the Bintangor junction to the Julau junction and Sibu Airport to Sg Kua Bridge.
In the main portion, this will comprise the upgrading of the existing single carriageway to dual carriageway of higher specifications.
Bridges and interchanges are also part of the package, including the 1.7-km long Durin Bridge across Rejang River, Malaysia’s longest. The delivery period of the contract is 51 months.
Gan said the HSL-Dhaya Maju Infrastructure JV would source the construction materials like cement and steel locally to avoid exposure to the risk of foreign currency exchange rates.
“HSL is well versed in the logistics of materials supply,” according to her.
The Kuching centralised wastewater phase II project will involve the expansion of the sewerage treatment facilities, new underground trunk lines and connecting up to a considerable section of properties in northern Kuching.
Package 1 (2008-2015) was made up of three key components - a wastewater treatment plant, a sewer network (overall length of 64.5km consisting of trunk, secondary and tertiary sewers) and property connections.
The ambitious project, which is based on the Singapore model, is to collect grey and black water and pipe it underground to the treatment plant, where it is processed into clean water before being discharged back into the environment.
The untreated water was previously discharged into Sarawak River where the Kuching Water Board draws its raw water for treatment.
So far, some 2,830 commercial and residential properties have been connected.
For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2015, HSL recorded a group revenue of RM654.7mil and a pre-tax profit of RM101.2mil.

Target Price RM1.60...

with facts, I slapped Rocky once in his face and I am going to do the same to Mr ChildishStockbroker
2016-04-15 14:26 | Report Abuse
I copy and paste here my previous calculation:
iloveshare128: let me share more facts and some simple maths calculation... HSL 2015 Revenue was RM654,736,000. EPS was 13.87.
The 1st project RM750million x 0.75 = RM562.50million over 6 years.. which means additional revenue of RM93.75million a year...
next, 2nd new project: RM 1,710,431,718 x 0.7 = RM1.1973Billion over 51 months = RM281.718million additional revenue per year...
so u add up these numbers:
2016 revenue will be roughly RM654.736+RM93.75+RM281.718million = RM1030.204million!!!
EPS is estimated to be 13.87sen / 654.736 * 1030.204 = 21.82 sen (up 57%)...
if PE is 15, the price will be RM3.27...
Do u think PE 15 is too high? think about it, what is the focus right now? Sarawak projects.. and more projects from Pan Borneo Phase 2, 3... etc.. and SCORE projects will come in... so dun be surprised the EPS will be more than 21.82 sen in 2016 if HSL win more projects...

I think the recent drop may due to some over-paranoid/worried speculators/investors who would like to play safe by selling the election-linked companies first as they feel that there is a chance for BN to lose the state government... however, HSL is really an outperforming company if you notice, that its past records (in terms of timeliness in delivering the projects, the quality of work, the expertise).. that no matter who wins the state government, HSL can still win projects via open market tenders... so i am not too worried... HSL is no "empty-shell" companies like those established by some BN cronies (to cheat investors' money and without any actual revenue)... the call is yours...

if you look at its previous record high price (>RM5) when it was making extremely good revenue and profit... and you may think the same way as I do that : when will the share price go up again (after a long descending run for years)... just sharing of some of my observations:
1) this company used to expand heavily to Thailand and some part of Laos/Myanmar a few years ago and they were quite successful especially in Thailand... sales increased a lot during that time...
2) then when Thailand had a turbulent time with its politics (a lot of riots, demonstrations) against the government and it slowed down Zhulian's growth and subsequently the sales dropped...
3) Now that Thai has slowly gained back its political stability and the company continues to eagerly expand its sales to other ASEAN countries.. I feel that it may be a good time to collect this share again...
I am not too optimistic that its sales and net profit can go back to its previous peak (a few years ago) in short term.. but it is possible that it can hit >RM2 if the next few quarter results improve...
