Not the question of how many local manufacturers, it is all about approval and product availability, somebody could just block the approval and get it imported in. For certain individuals with interest, their “periuk nasi” is upmost crucial.

but K1 must get MOH approval first before market externally. Otherwise, they just can’t sell.

i believe nasal swab is is nothing high-tech involved. it is just a plastic stick with a polymer swab. However, the manufacturing process has to be right and tested vigorously prior to approval. I heard that Medical Devices (MD) approval process does take time under normal circumstances. The trial shall be done by IMR to provide data for decide if the prototype swab is meeting performance requirements (sterility, repeatability and reproducibility) and production areas are subjected to assessment by MOH officials. These requirements are clear and standard for the industry.

Nevertheless, in covid pandemic situation, MOH could provide conditional or emergency approval for K-1 to start manufacturing and supplying to local demands as long as they meet key quality requirements. In US, FDA provides Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to manufacturers to start manufacturing and MD under emergency conditions to meet demands.

Maybe there are quality issues raised during audit, assessment and testing? Assessment findings are confidential in nature, but I think management shall provide some timeline.

Or perhaps this delay is due to political and economic influences? Somebody dominates the supply chain? Pharmaceutical and MD industries are highly lucrative business and people can do anything to prevent changes in status quo.

LONDON, June 19 (Reuters) - Oil prices are no longer particularly cheap by historical standards.

Perceptions about prices tend to be over-influenced by recent experience so current prices feel very low to producers used to receiving $60-80 per barrel over the 2018/19 period.

But over a longer time horizon, current prices are not especially cheap, and are only a little below long-run averages over the last few price cycles.

Current Brent prices at just over $40 per barrel are in the 49th percentile for all months since 1988, after adjusting for U.S. inflation (tmsnrt.rs/2V1lJea).

If prices were to settle at this level through the end of the year, the annual average would be just over $40, compared with an inflation-adjusted median of $50-55 since 1973.

The strong rally since April is a sign crude traders are confident about a sustained rebound in consumption over the rest of this year and that OPEC+ and U.S. shale producers will restrain output until excess stocks are absorbed.

As a result, the balance of risks has become more symmetrical than it was two months ago, when prices were clearly unsustainably low, which likely explains why the rally has lost some momentum over the last two weeks.

If the economic recovery and resumption in fuel demand proves more protracted, shale output does not fall as much as expected, or OPEC+ cohesion frays, price could pull back again.

But if a more optimistic scenario is realised (strong economic recovery, limited shale production, continued OPEC+ cohension), prices might continue to rise towards their pre-pandemic level of $55 or even $65 per barrel.

Do you think the price will drop drastically if the Q2 report is very bad? Long term I think Genting got potential. I am keeping it.

The Hill will reopen by Aug 31 when all other activities (cinemas, bars, pubs, swimming pools) are permitted. Gov cant survive without the Hill. If they really want to close, they would close it long time ago. Genting contributed about 5 bil (2019) to Malaysia coffer in direct & indirect taxes. How about indirect contribution (education funds, welfare, sponsorships)? This is just similar with Carlsberg and Heineken? There are always some idiots want to be heroes playing political polemics but they can't live without taxes, right?

Bad financial reports are norms during bad times. What is more important are the business resilience and owner's commitment to turnaround.
