Telco stocks likely to attract investors

KUALA LUMPUR: Crude palm oil (CPO) futures prices on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher yesterday boosted by the improved crude oil market.

LONDON: Brent crude oil rose above US$86 a barrel yesterday, bouncing from near four-year lows as investors bought back into a market they said was oversold, and as fighting in Iraq increased political risk.

Oil has lost more than a fifth of its value since June on heavy oversupply, signs of weak demand growth and indications that key oil producers, particularly Saudi Arabia, have a limited appetite to intervene on prices.

Brent for December rose US$1.52 to a high of US$87.34, before slipping back to around US$86.25 a barrel by 1330 GMT, but was still on track for its fourth weekly loss in a row. The November Brent contract expired on Thursday.

US November crude, heading for its third weekly decline, was up 55 cents at US$83.25.

“Prices have likely overshot to the downside,” said Jeffrey Currie, head of oil analysis at Goldman Sachs. “This leaves us near-term constructive despite being bearish as we look further out.”

“The oil sell-off had been driven by expected fundamental shifts as opposed to currently observable shifts,” Currie and his colleagues said in a note to clients. Reuters

KUALA LUMPUR: Kumpulan Europlus Bhd (KEB) has signed a deal to sell 900 million Talam Transform Bhd shares to Tan Sri Chan Ah Chye @ Chan Chong Yoon for RM99mil.

KEB said on Friday it had inked the conditional share sale agreement with Chan to dispose of the shares at 11 sen a share. The shares accounted for 21.3% of the paid-up of Talam Transform.

It said sale price was based on a willing buyer-willing seller basis based on the historical share price and the audited consolidated net assets as at Jan 31, 2014 of 14 sen per share.

Earlier reported in this forum mkt expected to hit 1930 by end of this yr simultaneously HS might take this opportunity to push Suma up for a higher RI. Remember Suma not backed by fundamental so for it to move up Klci got to be high.....my2c ( fundamental means good balance sheet with dividend, Suma is still in d early stages of establishing)

Ha ha we have to face facts not trying to be smart....got profit run why fall in love with penny stks.

The volatility is very high among penny stks as compared to blue chips backed by fundamentals n payment of dividends etc....smart ppl made money on Suma n those didnt either greedy or new comers so no complain please as i said earlier SUMA is gooooooooood!!!!!!!

According to Bloomberg data in d last 6 mths both Suma/Pdz a record of 7.67 billion shares were traded which dominated d top 10 stks. Many made substantial gains with minimum capital within a short period of time n when it fell many faced huge losses these usually happens in penny stks which r less then 1.00.

At Bursa, SKPetro rose 31 sen to RM3.47 and pushed the KLCI up a hefty 3.26 points while Petronas Gas added 26 sen to RM21.56 and Petronas Dagangan six sen to RM19.22 while Petronas Chemicals shed one sen to RM6.08.

Sumatec jumped three sen to 33 sen and it was the most active with 116.91 million shares done while its warrants added three sen to 23.5 sen. KNM added five sen to 74.5 sen.

The gains in the oil and gas counters were supported by the mild recovery of oil prices. Brent crude steadied around US$86 a barrel after bouncing from near four-year lows as investors bought back into a market they saw as oversold in the short term, according to Reuters.

With every 10 percent drop in oil prices, consumption grows by 0.15 percent, Goldman estimated. Brent crude’s slump of almost 30 percent from its June peak may mean additional demand of almost 500,000 barrels a day, according to the bank.

Futures are paring losses as other banks including BNP Paribas SA and Bank of America Corp. predict the rout may be over. West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark crude, rose as much as 1 percent to $83.52 a barrel in New York. London-traded Brent climbed 1.1 percent to $86.79, also gaining a second day.

Looks like there is no oversupply,oil price shd be going up so Suma looks positive.

US light crude oil rose 29 cents to US$82.99 and Brent added 57 cents to US$86.39. The slight rebound shored oil and has heavyweight SapuraKencana Petroleum, which rose 26 sen to RM3.42.

Sumatec rose 1.5 sen to 31.5 sen with 51 million shares done. Its warrants added two sen to 22.5 sen. KNM gained 4.5 sen to 74 sen.

BIMB Research says Wednesday's trading participation showed net buying from local institutions, while local retail and foreign institutions were net seller. It expects another bearish day of trading with immediate support at 1,780/85.



However, MA Securities remains optimistic that Bursa would end on a high.
