"The rising dollar is a concern, as it could be a headwind for large corporate earnings, but the market looks a lot more attractive than it did just a few days ago," said John Schmitz, portfolio manager at Bahl & Gaynor in Cincinnati. "The selloff could offer an opportunity."

However, it is seen necessary for the benchmark index to pull above the 1,845 level in order to attract more buying participations. The overhead resistance zone is between 1,853 and 1,860. Indicator wise, the MACD is still below the 9-day moving average line.
The analysis of overall market action on 25 Sep 2014 revealed that buying power was stronger than selling pressure.
As such, the FBM KLCI would likely trade above the 1,843.11 level on 26 Sep 2014.

Outlook for palm oil looks bearish becoz price is cynical in nature n fluctuates up n down. The question here is purely supply n demand.Major catastrophes not possible becoz biodiesel on track n any excess palm oil will be absorbed. What is required now is good agricultural practises n no compromise on quality management. All oil palm growers, they should aim for the highest yields in the country.UP is getting about 25mt others 20mt n below.People in this industry should change their mindset, keep aside d so called policies n strive hard to get d best yield. There should always a "check n balance" besides managers wanting best perks plus a hand sum bonus of 10 mths.If they can't get d yield do they deserve such benefits. Sometimes back i read in d newspaper Malaysians in general lack professionalism becoz they take care of everybody n forget d shareholders. The main reason for GLC oil palm plantation to merge was to reduce expenditure so able to give a good dividend n i also remember reading in d media of 50% dividend n we do not see this materialising n reason due to low yield. As a free lance writer although if price drops can be absorbed by biodiesel but if price don't improve say for complete one financial year then d company will run into red n possible catastrophes. Please try to look for info on rubber stock pile release by US in d 1960s' lead to crash of rubber prices hence land were fragmented by foreigners n sold by foreign owned companies. The difference between rubber n palm oil, rubber can be stored whereas palm oil cannot becoz storage increase d acidity n not suitable for consumption.I have been working 40yrs in d plantation n i know is happening n d yield can be increased if d companies r COMMITTED. ...once d whiteman planter in his speech of motivation concluded by saying, the best manure for the field are "Managers Footprints"..I hereby call upon d planters to be on d DOUBLE.

RESILIENT: Financial mart able to ride out volatile global conditions says Zeti
THE Malaysian financial market has shown resilience to volatile conditions in the global market, placing the economy on a steady growth path, said Bank Negara Malaysia governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz.
She said any consolidation exercise in the banking sector would not affect the stability of the financial system.
The central bank has been undertaking stress tests since 2000 but the banking sector has exhibited its strength.
“We are very confident with the state of our banking system at this point,” Zeti said after the launch of the Financial Services Professional Board yesterday.
Malaysia has developed its financial market, in particular the bond market, that can absorb global hiccups, she added.

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 24): Abric Bhd has proposed to sell its entire core business of production of electronic security seals to UK-based ESNT International Ltd for RM146 million cash on a cash-free, debt-free basis, effectively turning Abric into a cash-rich shell company.
Once the divestment has been approved and completed, which is planned to take place in the fourth quarter of this year, Abric plans to distribute a special dividend of 30 sen per share, which is about 41% of its stock price of 73.5 sen at today’s close.
“The board (of Abric) believes that the proposed disposal provides an opportunity for Abric to unlock the value of its investments in the disposal companies at a reasonable price… Abric is expected to record a gain on disposal of RM63.9 million,” the company explained the disposal’s rationale in a Bursa Malaysia filing today.
Abric said it is planning to sell the entire equity interests of the units of its wholly-owned subsidiary Abric Worldwide Sdn Bhd to ESNT.
The latter will also purchase the remaining 40% stake it did not own in subsidiary Abric Eastern International Ltd (AEIL) to facilitate the disposal for THB113 million.
ESNT’s offer of RM146 million will then deduct the unaudited net debt of Abric’s subsidiaries for sale of RM8.9 million.
“The disposal consideration was arrived at on a negotiated ‘willing-buyer, willing-seller’ basis after taking into consideration the historical earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of the disposal companies for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2013 and their earnings potential,” Abric said.
Abric stated the disposed companies’ proforma profit after tax was RM1.8 million, while EBITDA was RM10.4 million and net assets RM63 million. Its total original cost of investment for the companies was RM63 million.
Abric intends to distribute up to RM44.6 million from the sale proceeds to shareholders, assuming all the 49.53 million outstanding warrants as at Jul 18 are fully exercised.
“The board is still deliberating on plans for the utilisation of the proceeds from the proposed disposal (apart from the special dividend and purchase of the 40% of AEIL),” said Abric.
The company intends to maintain its listing status, it said. After disposing of its core business, Abric said it may be classified as a “cash company” within the Practice Note 16 of the listing requirements. It might also be deemed a Practice Note 17 company on grounds of “affected listed issuer”.
Abric said it expects to be well-positioned to pursue acquisition opportunities with its disposal gain of RM63.9 million.
Abric, which was trading in the 30 sen-band before May, closed half a sen lower today at 73.5 sen, with 628,900 shares traded. Its market capitalisation was 71.81 million.

European stocks shrug off Wall Street's slide, led higher by banks
Friday, 26 September 2014 19:53
PARIS (Sept 26): European stocks rose on Friday, shrugging off declines on Wall Street, with euro zone banks leading the gains on expectations they will be the big winners in the European Central Bank's drive to stave off deflation.
Spain's Banco Santander rose 0.8 percent, Italy's Intesa SanPaolo gained 1.6 percent and BNP Paribas added 1 percent. The STOXX euro zone banking index gained 0.6 percent, the top sector across Europe.
Investors increasingly expect euro zone banking stocks to rally in coming months as the ECB steps up efforts to support the region's economy. The central bank announced more stimulus measures earlier this month, including purchases of asset-backed debt, in addition cheap loans to banks announced earlier.
