KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 ― CGS-CIMB has reiterated its ‘add’ call on Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank), as the bank is set to benefit from the forecast overnight policy rate (OPR) hike in the second quarter of this year (Q2 2022F).

“We expect Maybank’s net profit to increase quarter-on-quarter to RM2.05 billion to RM2.1 billion in Q2 2022F as it will start to benefit from the positive impact of the hike in the OPR.

“We also expect the bank to see year-on-year net profit growth of between 4.0 per cent and 7.0 per cent in Q2 2022F,” it said in a research note today.

“As such, we have increased our target price for Maybank’s shares to RM10 from RM9.80,” it said. ― Bernama

Maintain BUY and MYR10.40 TP, 16% upside with c.6% FY22F yield. Malayan Banking’s 1Q22 results are within expectations, with lending tracking expectations but fee income weaker on volatile markets. Management is keeping its credit cost guidance, as it stays cautious on outlook and asset quality. Stay BUY, given the bank’s steady operations, strong capital and attractive dividend yield.

Maintain OUTPERFORM and TP of RM11.05. Our TP is based on an unchanged GGM-derived FY23E PBV of 1.44x (1.5SD above mean).
We like the stock for its dividend prospects. Despite the group’s constant dividend guidance of 40-60% payout, it has consistently paid at c.80% which translates to yields of 7-8%.

We maintain our BUY call on Malayan Banking (Maybank) with a revised fair value (FV) of RM10.30/share from RM10.00/share after rolling forward our valuation to FY23F, pegging the stock to a P/BV of 1.3x supported by an ROE of 11%. @nhbeen maintaining 4Q21 profit of about 17+ sen after factoring cukai makmur is considered quite commendable ......next few q profit should see some improvement after factoring in OPR increases.....at current rate, full year should see a little improvement or at least maintain last year profit.

MBB guidance for this year is a ROE of 9+ %, maintaining around last year's level after factoring in cukai makmur....so, still can expect the same level of dividend even after cukai makmur.

Last year 1Q was very high.....2.3b....eps 20.9 sen...

....in this market, when is difficult to find capital gain, high dividend stock like this one is the best place to park and let your money to work for you while waiting for global market and economy to recover,,,,it could take years....so during this time, you still get a yield of 6 to 7 %.

How the share price will move is anyone guess...but better dividend is almost a certainty.

@jeffchan1901 the DRP shares are added to your existing stock at "no cost".....so, if you subscribe full, it should bring down your average buy price by 7.5 sen.
I have already checked mine, this is my 3rd DRP.

But sometime, your trading account system might have "error" setting, I encountered this with my CIMB DRP the previous time....the average buy price became higher after DRP (the DRP price was higher than my buy price)

The MBB one is correct....it should be treated at "no cost" and bring down your average buy price.

I visited the other forum, and noticed that many cheerleaders have disappeared lately.
Previously, they said they buy the stock because the stock give them peaceful sleep at night....but I suspect, after Putin invaded Ekraine, made them cannot sleep....haha.
