This time is Duck Egg....On 22nd March 2016, Miss Phang Li Koon signed a statutory declaration to put to rest certain discrepancies that arose from the controversial purchase of Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s RM2.8 million bungalow on Pinhorn Road, Penang. According to her SD, Phang clarified that although, she had not conducted any market survey prior to selling the property, she reiterated that she did not gain any benefits and had sold it on her “own free will on a ‘willing buyer and willing seller’ basis.”
Since then, several police reports have been lodged against her and according to the police, investigations will be carried out to look into this issue further. However, the warning given by the Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, for allegedly falsifying her statutory declaration is a blatant act of intimidation.
Phang is an extremely important witness and a key player who can elucidate the Penang Chief Minister’s innocence, therefore making such warnings is nothing more than an attempt to unnerve and frighten her.
In addition to the protest where approximately 50 Penang BN Youth members with members from Perkasa and Gerakan Merah Malaysia, demonstrated on the controversial Taman Manggis land to demand that the area be developed for public housing for the needy, the swift response and the warning presented by the IGP only makes one highly suspicious of the possible political motives involved.
The timing of the situation and how the entire issue has been played out are highly questionable. The onslaught of attacks made by unscrupulous politicians from the far right against DAP and Phang is repulsive, appalling and plain wicked.
It is unfortunate that Miss Phang is caught in the middle of a political clash between BN, who is adamant on capitalising on this issue and the DAP led Penang State Government, who has proven to be more than capable of administrating Penang onto the right path of socio-economic success.
Therefore, on behalf of DAP Wanita Penang, this statement is to declare our support in solidarity of Phang Li Koon, whom we know has done nothing wrong other than speaking out at a time where speaking out against tyranny can be a criminal offense. The IGP and the police must guarantee that Phang will be treated fairly and investigations will be carried out without prejudice.
The truth will always prevail and good will always triumph over evil.

Khairy OOOO Khairy...Answer the RM107 million public money first.....Former Umno man Khairuddin Abu Hassan has told off Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin with a reminder about a pending RM100 million embezzlement case involving his sports ministry.
Khairuddin made his rejoinder after Khairy had described a suit against Prime Minister Najib Razak brought by former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and two others to be a mere political gimmick.
Khairy said Mahathir’s action to file a suit together with Khairuddin and former Langkawi Umno wanita member Anina Saadudin was only part of their political agenda to topple Najib.
“I would like to advise Khairy to settle the RM100 million corruption case first and don’t be a busy body with other matters. This is about the law. If this ‘child’ (Khairy) is saying that it’s just a political gimmick, it’s okay. Later we’ll subpoena him to the court.
“As a Member of Parliament, Khairy should respect the law instead of mocking it. If Khairy doesn’t believe or respect the law, then he shouldn’t be an MP, let alone a minister,” said Khairuddin in a statement.
Mahathir, Anina and Khairuddin filed the suit against Najib on Thursday, claiming damages of RM2.6 billion and RM42 million, as a result of Najib having abused his powers as prime minister.
Khairy was embroiled in a corruption scandal when a senior officer in the youth and sports ministry was arrested for investigations into the loss of RM100 million in government funds over a period of years before Khairy became the minister in 2013.

Dalam satu wawancara eksklusif bersama FMT, Dr Mahathir turut mendedahkan bahawa beliau mengenali secara mendalam sikap dan tingkah laku Ahmad Zahid memandangkan beliau sendiri yang melantiknya sebagai menteri kabinet.

“Dia (Ahmad Zahid) dapat jadi menteri pasal saya juga. Kalau saya cerita hat (perkara) lama nanti jadi buruklah,” ujarnya.

Sebelum ini, Ahmad Zahid menggesa semua pihak tidak menyalahkan kerajaan yang dipimpin oleh Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, sebaliknya melihat apa yang dilakukan pentabiran kerajaan sebelum ini.

Dakwaan itu merujuk kepada zaman pemerintahan Dr Mahathir susulan beberapa isu yang disifatkan berat sebelah khususnya mengenai kenaikan tambang ERL sebanyak RM55 daripada RM35.

“Disebabkan najis yang terpalit dulu, jangan salahkan kita sepenuhnya, walaupun bukan 100 peratus kita kena faham, mahasiswa nakkan tadi supaya ada diskaun kad untuk ERL, cuma semua harus faham bahawa kalau rombak, kita terpaksa bayar puluhan ribu sebab melanggar perjanjian konsesi,” kata Ahmad Zahid. – FMT

Guan Eng Tidak Perlu Letak Jawatan, Najib Yang Patut Letak Jawatan





Isu tuduhan penyalahgunaan kuasa yang dikenakan terhadap Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang, Lim Guan Eng begitu hangat diperkatakan oleh seluruh negara sejak akhir-akhir ini. Cukup pelik, bagaimana isu ini boleh menjadi besar sedangkan isu ini sebenarnya hanya melibatkan isu peribadi.

Dimana salahnya pemilikan rumah pada harga yang murah? Lagipun skandal yang disabitkan keatas beliau jauh lebih sikit berbanding apa yangmemaliti Datuk Seri Najib.

Mana salahnya jika rumah yang dibeli itu dijual atas suka sama suka? Tambahan pula, margin keuntungan yang dicatatkan oleh Miss Phang itu hanyalah sekitar RM 400 ribu, bukan RM 42 bilion atau Rm 2.6 bilion.

Jumlah itu jauh lebih besar daripada apa yang dilakukan oleh Guan Eng. Malah isu tanah Taman Manggis sebenarnya adalah salah kerajaan BN sebelum ini dan tidak sepatutnya diletakkan diatas bahu Guan Eng seorang sahaja.

Tanah sekangkang kera berkenaan menjadi heboh apabila kononnya kerajaan BN dahulu menyimpan tanah berkenaan untuk dibina unit rumah PPR. Berapa ramai yang boleh merasa nikmat pembangunan rumah PPR di atas sebesar padang bola sepak ini?

Jika benar kerajaan BN merancang untuk membuat rumah PPR diatas berkenaan, kenapa tidak dibina dari dahulu? Kenapa perlu salahkan kerajaan DAP?

Dalam hal ini, suara yang mendesak Lim Guan Eng untuk meletakkan jawatan jelas tidak relevan. Sepatutnya Datuk Seri Najib yang patut meletakkan jawatan terlebih dahulu kerana terlalu banyak skandal dan kegagalannya membangunkan Pulau Pinang atas kerana sikap pilih kasihnya.

Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad today said it is not Save Malaysia's place to name who should be the next prime minister.

Mahathir reiterated the group’s main priority now is to remove of Najib from office.

“After that we will decide who becomes prime minister. It is not for us to name a prime minister from here or there.

“The main thing is he (Najib) must go because he's the main stumbling block,” he said in a press conference after the conclusion of Save Malaysia's People's Congress in Shah Alam today.

He noted that by convention, the prime minister is the leader of the party which holds the most seats in the Dewan Rakyat.

However, this does not mean Umno vice-president and deputy prime minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi would take over as PM if Najib is ousted.

“Not necessarily,” he said.

Buying a property below market value was never an offence under any law, BN must prove their allegation there is an element of corruption in the purchase....

Barisan Nasional spin doctors have been working overtime to create an impression that the DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has abused his power for personal gains.

They are spreading the lie that Guan Eng had bought a house at discounted price in exchange for approving a piece of land in Taman Manggis, Penang, to a company linked to the seller of his house.

If that is not enough, attempts are made to compare the allegation with the case of former Selangor menteri besar, Dr Mohamed Khir Toyo, which is of a different nature altogether.

Barisan Nasional strategic communications director and Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan is probably the mastermind of the coordinated attacks in the past week.

Such attacks also included Abdul Rahman’s uncouth way of breaking parliamentary norms at Wednesday’s Parliamenty sitting by using the word “bohong” (lies) against Guan Eng, thus abusing his parliamentary privileges to make unsubstantiated allegations aiming to destroy Guan Eng’s credibility.


Why are BN leaders and the mass media attacking Guan Eng now?

It actually has a lot to do with Najib Abdul Razak. Malaysians are living dangerously in the weeks to come because Najib is becoming very insecure of his position, and it will be impacted by the coming Sarawak state election, as well as the recent Citizens’ Declaration campaign.

As for the Sarawak elections, most probably the Barisan Nasional will retain the state. But the question is, at what price? Will it be a landslide victory, could it be a Pyrrhic win, or will Adenan Satem and his Sarawak BN suffered a black eye when the opposition garners more seats?



The outcome of the Sarawak state election is hugely important to Najib. Chief Minister Adenan is quite likely to dissolve the state assembly in the coming week, after Easter, an important holiday to many in Sarawak. He hopes to win some seats from the opposition, especially from the DAP, which had won 12 seats and PKR three, in the 2011 state election.

If the 72-year-old state chief minister can grab a few seats from DAP and PKR, he can cement his rule in Sarawak, while Najib can tell the country the voters have accepted him despite all the scandals. However, if the reverse happens, that is if DAP and PKR win a few more seats, this means the writing is on the wall for Najib.

Sarawak BN holds 25 parliamentary seats in Parliament. If Sarawak BN loses a few seats to DAP due to the Najib factor (the goods and services tax or GST, poor economy, job losses and the scandals), Adenan will have to think twice in pledging his 25 parliamentary seats to Najib.

Besides Sarawak, the grand gathering of the Citizen’s Declaration on March 4 saw, for the first time in decades, the convergence of opposing forces - Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Lim Kit Siang, Mohamad Sabu, Ambiga Sreenevasan, Azmin Ali, Hishamuddin Rais, Maria Chin Abdullah, Muhyiddin Yassin, Mukhriz Mahathir and many more, sitting together to sign the declaration to campaign for Najib’s removal, and to follow up with serious reforms.

Seeing through Najib’s brave face

The prime minister may put up a brave face, but many Malaysians can see through and realise that Najib is under siege. Otherwise there would not be a need for the 148 Umno division chiefs to declare open support for him or for Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah to sign a declaration in support of him. Najib is now a “political dead man walking”, who is hugely unpopular among the electorate. He is also battling coup attempts within Umno.

So, where does Guan Eng feature in all these?

First, being a very popular chief minister of Penang helps improve the image of the opposition. BN spin doctors believe that if you hurt Guan Eng as the symbol of strength, you may hurt the opposition.

Second, Guan Eng’s image as a national opposition leader has made him the number one target for BN spin doctors and cybertroopers. By damaging his reputation, BN propagandists believe they could halt the interest of the people, especially the Malays, to join or at least to support DAP and Pakatan Harapan.

Third, the chief minister of Penang was the most potent force for the opposition in the 2011 Sarawak state election. To many voters in the last state election, it was a ‘CM (Taib Mahmud) versus CM (Guan Eng)’. Even in Sarawak, Guan Eng was and still is popular. Hence, the importance of the Sarawak elections.

These are the factors that made Abdul Rahman Dahlan and his supporters to find ways to destroy Guan Eng’s reputation, by any means necessary. Malaysians must beware of the dangerous weeks ahead in Malaysia.

I am renting out a house to a malay couple at just rm1200 when the market is going for rm1500 now. My friends ask me why I dont up the rental since it has been 3 years now. I told them if I up, they might move out and I am lazy in looking for new tenants and who knows what tenant I might be getting. A police report has been lodged against Phang Li Koon, whose sale of a bungalow at Jalan Pinhorn to chief minister Lim Guan Eng has become mired in political controversy and allegations of corruption linked to the sale of a plot of state land.

The report was lodged at Jalan Patani police station today by Umno Youth executive council member Jefri Salim, Bernama reported.

Earlier, the DAP’s RSN Rayer, state assemblyman for Seri Delima, had lodged a report against a demonstration held at Taman Manggis in George Town, the site that was sold to a company said to be linked with Phang.

Jefri’s report called for investigations to be carried out against Phang, a businesswoman, on the grounds that she was willing to forego RM6,000 a month when renting the bungalow to Lim, and later being willing to undertake more losses when the house was sold at below market value.

Bernama quoted Jefri as saying: “She was renting out the bungalow before this at RM5,000 a month but we found out she was paying RM11,000 in monthly bank installments on the house. Here we see Phang suffering a loss of RM6,000 a month.

“So we want police to investigate, as Phang had earlier said she had no dealings or interests with the state government, so why was she willing to suffer the losses without having such an interest?” Bernama said.

Did she suffer losses..? No she did not. she actually made rm 700K from the whole transaction including rental. Minus of the bank interest which is about 200k and 100k for renovation she would have made the least 400 k from her investment.. If she put in a deposit of 500k and take a bank loan for the rest of the 2.5 million.. she actually have an ROI of 80% over 6 years of investment. From investment point of view it is a very good investment . Somethings that these umno moron doesn't know how to calculate.

The beautiful lady own the bungalow house at such young age shown she is rich enough! She make less profit on this deal I don't see anything wrong unless she has take any projects from penang government but until now nobody can prove it. This is the baseless allegations to discredit the Chief minister.

The police have been urged to investigate the Red Shirts movement president Mohd Ali Baharom (Ali Tinju) and several politicians of MCA, Gerakan and the People’s Progressive Party for a protest gathering at the controversial Taman Manggis site off Jalan Burmah on Friday.

Sri Delima assemblyman RSN Rayer of theDAP DAP said he had lodged a police report on behalf of the state government to enable investigations to be carried out against those involved.

He said: “At the gathering, some parties had made statements that Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had seized the rights and opportunities of the poor people in Penang and did not continue with the people’s housing project in Taman Manggis.

“We hope police will investigate the matter under Section 27 of the Police Act 1967, Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 and Section 499 of the Penal Code.”

Rayer made the report at the Jalan Patani police station here today.

About 500 people from Barisan Nasional parties and other organisations held a peaceful assembly at Taman Manggis, calling on Lim to build the PPR low cost housing project or to resign as chief minister.

The Taman Manggis land is at the centre of questions raised in the Dewan Rakyat by Tasek Gelugor MP Shabudin Yahaya, who asked for investigations into whether the sale of the land for a hospital-hotel project was linked to Lim’s purchase of a bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn for RM2.8 million in 2012, at a price said to be lower than the market value.

Shamsuddin admitted that he had sold his two plots of land and a bungalow at a price of RM3.5 million to Khir Toyo for fear of jeopardizing his housing projects in Selangor. Miss Phang signed a SD and admitted she sold her property out of fear of Barisan Nasional’s constant demonstration, harassment and stress instead.
Shamsuddin admitted he personally did not agree with the RM3.5 million price wanted by Khir Toyo and told him the property should be at least between RM5 million to RM5.5 million. On the other hand, Miss Phang was honoured and happy to sell her bungalow to Lim Guan Eng and his family for RM2.8 million, due to respect.
By their own admissions, Shamsuddin had a business relationship with Khir through PKNS. On the other side, Miss Phang (through her SD) and Mr. Lim announced they have no business relationship whatsoever.
In his capacity as PKNS Chairman, Khir Toyo had admitted to giving aletter of support to Ditamas Sdn Bhd director, Shamsuddin Hayroni, who bids for PKNS projects. In her SD, Miss Phang denied the allegations of being a director or shareholder of KLIDC company which has successfully bid for the Taman Manggis land. Additionally, Taman Manggis land was sold for RM11 million through “open tender”, not to mention Mr. Lim wasn’t part of the tender committee.

It would be extremely stupid for Lim Guan Eng, an accountant, to get himself into corruption in the purchase of the bungalow, knowing very well Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the rest of the government agencies are eyeing his every single move. There’s simply no case against him because he had taken all the necessary precautions to prevent from being trapped or implicated.

Khir Toyo was found guilty primarily because what the courts did not look kindly upon was the fact that the said property was bought (by Khir) at a lower price, compared with the much higher price when the property was purchased by (seller) Shamsuddin Hayroni. So the keyword here is purchase price andselling price, NOT market price.

Shamsuddin’s selling price to Mr. Khir was “lower” than his purchase price. Miss Phang’s selling price to Mr. Lim was “higher” than her purchase price. Both Shamsuddin and Miss Phang sold their properties below market price though. In short, Shamsuddin made a terrible 46% loss while Miss Phang made a not so handsome 12% profit.

But as long as Miss Phang didn’t make any losses selling her bungalow, judges may find it hard to compare Guan Eng’s case to Khir Toyo’s. She had made a cool RM300,000 or 12% profit on his investment of RM2.5 million on the property. And based on her SD, it was clear there were elements of goodwill, respect and gratitude due to Guan Eng’s administration of Penang.

There’s no law that says one cannot sell real estates at below “market price”, as long as one doesn’t sell it at a loss – below “purchase price” – without a compelling reason. There’s little doubt that “willing buyer-willing-seller” applies in Lim Guan Eng’s bungalow transaction but not Khir Toyo’s. Perhaps UMNO doesn’t understand how Chinese do business.

As far as Miss Phang is concerned, the sale was still a good deal because she didn’t lose money. She just made less profit. Not all business deals must be done with maximum profit. That’s why IT Mall, Low Yat Plaza, is doing a roaring and long-term business despite making lesser profit margin than UMNO-sponsored MARA Digital Mall.

What Najib administration has, however, is the indirect link between Lim Guan Eng and Miss Phang Li Koon. Lim Guan Eng (LGE), if he’s a kopitiam boss or a roast pork seller, would not get the attention (and trouble) he’s getting now. In fact, nobody would care that he had struck a good deal getting himself a bungalow for RM2.8 million – a crazy discount to market value. At 10,161 square feet, his bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn, Penang, was a steal at RM276 per square foot.

Unfortunately, Mr. Lim is no ordinary Chinese Ah Pek but the Penang Chief Minister. The worse part – he’s the leader of an opposition party DAP (Democratic Action Party) who commands 90% of Chinese votes. Therefore, whenever he buys or sells something, the price must be “ngam-ngam (precise)”. He can neither buy a bungalow below nor above market price.

If he buys a real estate “below” market price, then he is being rewarded for helping the seller on certain project. If he buys a property “above” market price, then he is cleaning dirty money through money laundering. That’s how the perception game is being played. Heads Guan Eng loses, tails Guan Eng also loses. This is madness, is it not?

In other words, Lim Guan Eng can never own a bungalow worth millions. Unless he switches sides to UMNO, he can only rent a bungalow or buy a condominium within his financial means.

That’s because condominium should roughly fetch the same price within the same block, unless heavily renovated, unlike a bungalow sitting on a 10,161 square feet plot of land.

In the same breath, Mr. Lim would get himself into trouble too if he plans to buy some properties through “lelong (auction)”, a normal process conducted by banks to get rid of real estates seized from past owners who couldn’t pay their scheduled mortgage loan. Again, he must ensure the price he bids for lelong properties must be “ngam-ngam” (*grin*).

Apparently, the seller of the bungalow, Miss Phang Li Koon, has signed a SD (Statutory Declaration) to relieve pressure on Lim Guan Eng. It seems the seller was a great admirer and supporter of Mr. Lim. She was also a close friend of the Chief Minister’s wife, Betty Chew. So, it was a “goodwill sale”after the Lim family rented the bungalow since 2009 at RM5,000 per month.

There’re 1,001 reasons why Guan Eng could buy the controversial bungalow for RM2.8 million, well below market price, if he was an ordinary folk. The bungalow could be haunted. Miss Phang has a crush on him. Betty Chew was a world class haggler she often gets free McDonald’s meal. Miss Phang was so touch because Guan Eng has taken care of the bungalow – polishing and waxing toilets daily.

The Penang Chief Minister claimed that he had bought his bungalow on a“willing buyer-willing-seller” basis. After all, it was a 30-year-old bungalow with “no” swimming pool (*grin*). He took a bank loan of RM2.1 million and paid the remaining RM700,000 in cash based on his income as the chief minister and an elected representative.

But that was exactly what had happened to former Selangor Chief Minister Khir Toyo, screamed UMNO politicians and bloggers. Mr. Khir had used “willing buyer-willing-seller” argument to justify his purchase of two plots of land and a bungalow in Shah Alam below market price. Still, he had failed to convince judges and was sentenced for 12 months behind bars.

Using Khir Toyo’s case as a yardstick, Lim Guan Eng should therefore go to prison too. Actually Khir could be saved by UMNO and need not go to jail. However, he was one of Mahathir’s boys so when Badawi and Najib took over, he was flushed out of favour. And when he lost the Selangor state in the 2008 national election, he was of no use to UMNO.

That was why Khir was officially charged in 2010. That was why out of hundreds of UMNO leaders who purchased bungalow below market price or even given free by businessmen, only Khir was charged. That was why UMNO didn’t instruct judges to close one eye on Khir’s case, as they normally would.But how different was Khir Toyo’s bungalow scandal to Lim Guan Eng’s?

Ditamas Sdn Bhd director, Shamsuddin Hayroni, bought his bungalow at RM5 million, excluding renovation cost of RM1.5 million, but sold the renovated property to Khir Toyo at lower price of RM3.5 million. On the other hand, Miss Phang Li Koon bought her bungalow in 2008 for RM2.5 million and sold it to Guan Eng for RM2.8 million. Shamsuddin sold it for a 46% loss while Miss Phang sold it for a 12% profit.

They told him that it was getting more difficult to support the No. 1 guy.

They said that at the max, the No. 1 guy should go by early next year ie 2017.

They also said that if the No. 1 guy does not go, then they will not run for elections in 2018.

Because they know they will lose in their respective constituencies.

Support for UMNO on the ground is approaching zero.

The 'respectmyPM' campaign is dead. Less than 50 people turned up on their own in Johor the other day. Even the datang naik bas supporters did not come in any significant numbers.

In Kelantan, Annuar Musa had to use some slick tricks to get people to sign that 'Kelantan Declaration'. People were not happy at being cornered to sign.

Most will be cowed by the might of the state and the media it controls when they continuously peddle lies in the hope of making it true if it is continuously repeated and then bury the political opponent once and for all. Guan Eng is not so stupid to make mistakes or direct the Valuation department to be favourable to him because of his position.

What the United Malays National Organisation (Umno), its pallbearer coalition partners, new-found friend PAS and so many NGOs and civil society groups have done is to further enhance and sodify Guan Eng’s position as the victim in the political games and ploys which they play to demonise and destroy him politically.

They fail to realise that by doing this, they further alienate the ethnic Chinese voters to become entrenched voters of the opposition coalition. It is not about being cocky, arrogant or being a braggart, it is about standing up to the notion of Malay supremacy and might, until and unless that is done, the bullying will never stop.

Everyone seems to be asking Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to go on leave, the question is why should he if he has done no wrong? Since when do we have a law which forces the willing seller of a property to sell one’s property at market price? Who determines the market price?

We have the freedom to contract in this country and that is what most of those who wield power in Putrajaya do when it comes to the huge and luxurious properties that they have amassed in their list of properties that they own.

If the seller chooses to sell at a certain price which the Valuation Department of the Inland Revenue Board thinks is below the market rate determined by its valuers, then the Department values the property at the market rate and determines the stamp duty payable, although the purchase price is lower than the so-called market price.

The Valuation Department always takes the higher amount. Therefore if the property is actually valued at about RM6.5 million as the dissidents seem to accuse the purchaser of escaping, then there must a clear reason for this.

Are all the properties in the famed Taman Manggis that expensive?

Or does a normal old bungalow house with some extensions here and there which even most civil servants of humble origins do to their houses suddenly become super-expensive because the buyer happens to be the chief minister of Penang?

If a closer look at the house is made, the house doesn’t seem that big and great at all! It is a normal double storey bungalow which is the types that were built during the 70s and early 80s. This kind of houses can be seen everywhere in most old housing estates in Old Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, Ampang, Old Klang Road, Petaling Jaya, Setapak, Klang, Ipoh and Taiping, to name a few.

For extensive renovations to be done to such buildings with a view to then hike up the valuation price of these properties to exorbitant amounts is just plain bulls**t.

Who governs this? Is the Valuation Department bothered? We don’t see Valuation Department staffers at the site of the properties which are in the midst of the process of being sold to actually take down details to prepare a valuation report! Only Bank valuers do that at the moment. So what a load of crap are most of these dissidents harping about?

Furthermore the seller has been very clear in her statutory declaration that she had intended to sell the house to the CM of Penang after having promised his wife that she would sell it to them at that given price once they are ready to purchase it. This purchase has been blown to this magnitude just because the purchaser of the property is none other than Lim Guan Eng who is a leader who is known to stand up to the notion of Malay supremacy and might which the ruling federal government expects every citizen in this country to conform to.

Most of the comments coming from the pallbearer parties within the federal ruling coalition don’t seem to make any sense at all. Have they perused the Contracts Act 1950 on the area of offer and acceptance before making their comments?

One is sure that Lim Kit Siang and his son Lim Guan Eng know that the entire Malay pro-establishment diaspora and those who are in blind allegiance to them will have a highly-powered magnifying glass from above looking into every detail of their lives to see if everything is above board so will there be any attempt to skirt around issues if there is one to begin with?

Now, there is a question of a purchaser having to know what the market price of a property that he or she is interested in before one starts the process of purchasing the said property; Yes, agreed. But what stops the seller from selling at a price which he or she prefers to sell? Even if the property is valued at say RM6.5 million, what stops the seller from selling at a lower price if he or she is willing to do it even if it is not at the behest of the purchaser?

It is the Valuation Department’s responsibility

Can the seller be forced to sell at the market price? Or must the purchaser be duty bound by a duty of care to remind the seller to sell him the property at the market price even though the seller is not bothered? The whole thing looks very stupid! It is the Valuation Department’s responsibility to use its resources to find out the actual value of the property and determine the stamp duty based on that finding.

This entire episode is nothing but an attempt to demonise and cook up false allegations on Guan Eng and to play it up continuously like what they did to Anwar Ibrahim and see if the intended victim falls but sad to say, they are dealing with a Chinese male with a lot of scrotal gumption which many Chinese males in Malaysian politics wish they had but they don’t.

Barisan Nasional spin doctors have been working overtime to create an impression that the DAP secretary-general and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has abused his power for personal gains.

They are spreading the lie that Guan Eng had bought a house at discounted price in exchange for approving a piece of land in Taman Manggis, Penang, to a company linked to the seller of his house.

If that is not enough, attempts are made to compare the allegation with the case of former Selangor menteri besar, Dr Mohamed Khir Toyo, which is of a different nature altogether.

Barisan Nasional strategic communications director and Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan is probably the mastermind of the coordinated attacks in the past week.

Such attacks also included Abdul Rahman’s uncouth way of breaking parliamentary norms at Wednesday’s Parliamenty sitting by using the word “bohong” (lies) against Guan Eng, thus abusing his parliamentary privileges to make unsubstantiated allegations aiming to destroy Guan Eng’s credibility.

Why are BN leaders and the mass media attacking Guan Eng now?

It actually has a lot to do with Najib Abdul Razak. Malaysians are living dangerously in the weeks to come because Najib is becoming very insecure of his position, and it will be impacted by the coming Sarawak state election, as well as the recent Citizens’ Declaration campaign.

As for the Sarawak elections, most probably the Barisan Nasional will retain the state. But the question is, at what price? Will it be a landslide victory, could it be a Pyrrhic win, or will Adenan Satem and his Sarawak BN suffered a black eye when the opposition garners more seats?

The outcome of the Sarawak state election is hugely important to Najib. Chief Minister Adenan is quite likely to dissolve the state assembly in the coming week, after Easter, an important holiday to many in Sarawak. He hopes to win some seats from the opposition, especially from the DAP, which had won 12 seats and PKR three, in the 2011 state election.

If the 72-year-old state chief minister can grab a few seats from DAP and PKR, he can cement his rule in Sarawak, while Najib can tell the country the voters have accepted him despite all the scandals. However, if the reverse happens, that is if DAP and PKR win a few more seats, this means the writing is on the wall for Najib.

Sarawak BN holds 25 parliamentary seats in Parliament. If Sarawak BN loses a few seats to DAP due to the Najib factor (the goods and services tax or GST, poor economy, job losses and the scandals), Adenan will have to think twice in pledging his 25 parliamentary seats to Najib.

Besides Sarawak, the grand gathering of the Citizen’s Declaration on March 4 saw, for the first time in decades, the convergence of opposing forces - Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Lim Kit Siang, Mohamad Sabu, Ambiga Sreenevasan, Azmin Ali, Hishamuddin Rais, Maria Chin Abdullah, Muhyiddin Yassin, Mukhriz Mahathir and many more, sitting together to sign the declaration to campaign for Najib’s removal, and to follow up with serious reforms.

Seeing through Najib’s brave face

The prime minister may put up a brave face, but many Malaysians can see through and realise that Najib is under siege. Otherwise there would not be a need for the 148 Umno division chiefs to declare open support for him or for Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah to sign a declaration in support of him. Najib is now a “political dead man walking”, who is hugely unpopular among the electorate. He is also battling coup attempts within Umno.

So, where does Guan Eng feature in all these?

First, being a very popular chief minister of Penang helps improve the image of the opposition. BN spin doctors believe that if you hurt Guan Eng as the symbol of strength, you may hurt the opposition.

Second, Guan Eng’s image as a national opposition leader has made him the number one target for BN spin doctors and cybertroopers. By damaging his reputation, BN propagandists believe they could halt the interest of the people, especially the Malays, to join or at least to support DAP and Pakatan Harapan.

Third, the chief minister of Penang was the most potent force for the opposition in the 2011 Sarawak state election. To many voters in the last state election, it was a ‘CM (Taib Mahmud) versus CM (Guan Eng)’. Even in Sarawak, Guan Eng was and still is popular. Hence, the importance of the Sarawak elections.

These are the factors that made Abdul Rahman Dahlan and his supporters to find ways to destroy Guan Eng’s reputation, by any means necessary. Malaysians must beware of the dangerous weeks ahead in Malaysia.

Now Jagdeep tells of BN mixed project at Taman Manggis


PETALING JAYA: A state government official has attacked the previous Barisan Nasional administration for having proposed a mixed development project on the controversial Taman Manggis land in George Town claimed to be earmarked for public housing.

Executive councillor Jagdeep Singh Deo, who is in charge of housing, said the previous government had proposed that shop-houses and government quarters be built by a private developer.

The land, located at the junction of Jalan Zainal Abidin and Jalan Burma, is at the centre of a controversy over the purchase of a RM2.8 million bungalow by chief minister Lim Guan Eng from a businesswoman linked to a company that bought the Taman Manggis land in 2010 for a hospital cum hotel project.

Jagdeep said today: “The land was not for a hardcore housing project. I have checked several documents and found a document about the previous BN government proposal. It was their latest decision.”

However, Penang Gerakan secretary Oh Tong Keong rubbished Jagdeep’s claim, saying that the mixed development was only a proposal and had remained so. “There was no decision. The land remained to build houses for the hardcore poor,” Oh said.

The DAP-led state government sold the land for RM11.5 million to Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre Sdn Bhd. Two days ago, Penang Gerakan showed a photocopy of a memorandum dated July 2003 that stated that the previous government had agreed to build the Taman Manggis Phase 2 housing project for the hardcore poor in 2009.

However, Jagdeep said today that Gerakan should check their facts thoroughly first before releasing any statement about Taman Manggis.

The Penang Island City Council is believed to have given planning permission to KLIDC to build a 24-storey hotel and a private hospital.

However, further allegations have been made that KLIDC has held talks with another company to sell the land. Lim has denied such a sale had been proposed.

Another day, and another Malaysian multi-million ringgit corruption racket makes headline news. On 18 March, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested a 56-year-old division secretary of the Youth and Sports Ministry, for allegedly embezzling RM100million, in a racket which spanned six years.

The Youth Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, claimed that "... the suspect abused the procedure that does not need higher approvals, meaning either the minister or the ministry’s chief secretary."

Khairy's defence, or rather excuse, is that he did not know. Not good enough!

He should be familiar with the methods employed, not just from when he was an ordinary MP, but because he was also a former PM's son-in-law. Ministries have allowed closed tenders or contracts to be awarded with no transparency.

He has previously defended people who fell short of sponsorship money, like the "Tour de Sarawak" organisers, and sportsmen who are rapists. His judgment is poor.

So, what else is new? These "we-will-stamp-out-corruption" stories, with Ministers vowing change, are nothing new. They claim to be shocked by the scale of corruption, and to be unaware of the weakness in the system.

One political cynic said, "What do you expect? We don't have leaders whom we can look up to. None of them is capable of leading by example. An organisation is only as good as its leader. If the leader is allowed to get away with a lot of things...?" He left his sentence unfinished.

The corruption scandals reverberating around Putrajaya differ only in the amount of money stolen, and the time span over which the crooked government servant operated. There is however, one thing these corruption scandals have in common with major traffic accidents. Their timeline.

A major traffic accident, which incurs a heavy loss of life, will spark investigations by various government agencies.

Meetings after meetings are conducted. With mock concern, ministers pose with the victims lying in a hospital bed. With mock determination, these ministers visit the scene of the accident, shake their heads and vow that everything in their power will be done to ensure that there will be no repeat of the tragedy.

In press conferences, the ministers promise that in future, buses will have the correct permit to operate. That drivers will not be drug users, or overworked. That the driver and bus company will be free of summonses, and traffic fines.

Six months after the tragedy, few if any of the recommendations by the working committee, will have been implemented. The file gathers dust, only for it to be picked-up and perused, when the next major accident strikes.


Such is the modus operandi of our ministry officials. So, why should we expect anything different from the Youth Ministry, or any other Ministry, for that matter?

If Khairy wants to clean up the ministries, he could start by ensuring that whistle-blowers are protected. Junior staff are aware that millions of ringgits of the taxpayers' money ends-up in the pockets of a few key individuals.

Some of them have been asked to close one eye, or do something illegal. They are threatened with arrest and their lives made a living hell, if they dare to expose the corruption. Why? Because it involves a senior politician, his friend and relative.

One anonymous source working in a ministry gave a simple tip and said, "Corruption usually starts with the appointment of an individual, by his relative. The idea is to keep the money and illegal act contained, among family members."

The Youth Ministry lost a mere RM100 million. The official was probably careless and boastful about his ill-gotten wealth. As we speak about his despicable acts, there are others like him, who are now busy covering-up their tracks.

This is another good company that is going places in both Singapore & Malaysia.Seems that traders are more active in the son as they see the mother to shoot up further....you will notice that the son volume traded is much higher than mother and the price is always right....son expiry date is 2014, a long way to go.
