The areas bordering the Rakhine state and the Bangaldesh are quite porous. Any Bangladeshis can cross over to Myanmmar and claims to be Rohingyas. A country with a land size area equivalent to Penisular Malaysia has a population (170 million) almost six times larger than ours. I think their National BREEDING Plan (NBP) is top notch and is considered one of the best in the world.

SGB caught my attention last August when they entered into a MOU with CanSino Bio to develop, manufacture and commercialize the CanSino Covic-19 vaccine here. Besides Covic-19 vaccine, their new F&F facility will also be able to accommodate the F&F process of the other types of vaccines, such as vaccine for meningococcal and pneumococcal.

Interestingly, PH Government had allocated RM60 million in Budget 2020 for pneumococcal vaccination. All children born on or after January 1, 2020, are eligible for the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV). The free pneumococcal vaccination under the National Immunisation Programme will benefit 500,000 children each year.

As for the meningococcal vaccine, Saudi health officials has made it mandatory for every pilgrim to be inoculated against the meningociccal disease, since the 2002 Hajj meningococcal outbreaks.

Forget about venturing into glove making or face masks, biotechnology (medical, agricultural and industrial) is going to play a big role in the survival of our species.
