https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/petronas-capex-cut-another-shock-local-og-companies
“The lower capex would translate into greater job deferments and fewer contracting opportunities, impacting fabricators (Sapura Energy Bhd as well as Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd), hook-up and commissioning works (Dayang Enterprise Holdings Bhd and Carimin Petroleum Bhd), drilling activities (Velesto Energy Bhd) as well as FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) activities (MISC Bhd and Yinson).
Top picks among research firms favour midstream companies such as Dialog Group Bhd and Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd, whose resilient earnings and balance sheet are expected to provide a degree of defensiveness.

POS is different bread. Well said. Revenue for postal services will go up by 117%, with a 10% drop in volume and 66% effective period (1st Feb - 31st March), the number still looks very good!

LONG POST WARNING
Before i take a break into Raya, let's do a mini forecast of POS' March 2020 profit.
There have been quite a few catalysts to why I looked into POS again recently.
1) 30% drop in fuel costs
2) increase in rates
3) 30% drop in interest rates
4) 100% Increase in demand from courier segment
In March 2019 POS posted a loss before tax of RM 133.7m. What would the numbers look like in this quarter?
POS Segmental Sales March 2019
Postal 189m
Courier 197m
International 39.5m
Logistics 73m
Aviation 65m
Others 29.7m
Pos Segmental Sales 2020 (Forecast)
Postal 300m (58% increase): 189m x (117%/2+100%)
Courier 395m (100% increase): 197.6m x 2
International 20m (50% Drop)
Logistics 37m (50% Drop)
Aviation 34m (50% Drop)
Others 14m (50% Drop)
Justification
Postal: 117% in stamp rate increased in mid March
Courier: 100% increase in demand. Altho there is a 30% increase in international postal services rate under 2kg, i expect it was to offset the cost POS has to pay Universal Postal Union (UPU). So we only factored in the demand increase.
So March 2020 Forecast revenue: 300 + 395 + 20 + 37 + 34 + 14 = 801m (34.78% or 206m +)
Hiring Costs: 600 staff x RM 2,000 x 3 months = 3.6m
March 2020 Forecast NPBT = -133m (PBT Mar 2019) - 3.6m + 206m = 69.4m
The effects for fuel savings and interest savings will only be felt in June 2020.
June 2020 Further Fuel savings: 579m x 20% x (30% fuel savings) = 43.5m
Interest Savings = finance cost 11,066,000 x 30% = 3.3m
Assumptions
Fuel Cost = 20% of total Expenses
Interest rate drop from 3% - 2% translates into 30% savings for POS via finance cost
Brighter Days ahead:
Resumption of International, Logistics, Aviation, and Others to 100% after May MCO. These three segments have been growing steadily.
Logistics YoY Growth Mar 19 to Dec 19 : -32% / 0.64% / -5.66% / 11.31 %
Aviation YoY Growth Mar 19 to Dec 19 : -9.26% / -15.12% / -13.03% / 0.49%
Others YoY Growth Marc 19 to Dec 19: 4.57% / -1.92% / -13.76% / 60.93%
POS Comment on Logistics (AR 2019): We are optimistic with Pos Logistics’ outlook for the coming year. For the automotive industry, Proton has revived its collaboration with Geely by introducing the X70 SUV. Since its release, the sales volume for the first two (2) months of 2019 experienced a 42% growth. As a vendor for transportation and warehousing, Pos Logistics will benefit directly from the increase in production volume.
POS Comment on Aviation (AR 2019): Pos Aviation is the only licensed independent ground handler in Malaysia. In FY2019, Pos Aviation achieved a 55% market share of foreign
airlines in KLIA, handling 7 of the top 10 airlines in the world. This is due to the successful securement of 3 new airlines, namely Royal Brunei, PT Citylink and Condor, which take up 52% of the warehouse space in KLIA Air Cargo Terminal 1 (KACT1). Pos Aviation remains optimistic moving forward as air traffic between emerging countries is expected to grow at 6.4% per annum, and will represent a growing share of world air traffic from 25% in 2018 up to 40% in 2036.
POS Comment on Others (Dec 2019 QR): Other segments which consist of printing and insertion, digital certificates and Ar Rahnu, generated an increase in revenue by RM9.3 million (60.93% increase!!) mainly due to higher revenue from printing and insertion business.
Therefore June Profit will be incredible with: Interest savings, Fuel Savings, recovery in International, Logistics, Aviation and Other Segments. We are looking at 43.5m (Fuel) + 3.3m (Interest) + 20m (International) + 37m (Logistics) + 34m (Aviation) + 14m (Others) = 151.8m increase in PBT per quarter if these effects were not factored in the March quarter.
I may be wrong, but all stars are aligned for POS!

Bearvsbull, im a holder of Serba and Pos, honestly If Pos was making 30m loss it is making a huge progress into profitability. Do not underestimate the power of POS and what Itchyleg mentioned is correct. Pos is definitely a good comparison against Gdex and it is indeed more value for money than Gdex. There are inherent risks to Pos as it has other nature of delivery including letter mailing. However POS will also be my pick the coming quarter. Chill it out yo. Everyone can have a say. Nothing wrong with it :). Cheers.

Based on Last QR, Their NPAT was 140m, and interest expense was 110m. Since the interest rates have dropped nearly 30%, we expect around 30m knocked off their expenses. Profit should grow another 20-30% for the next quarter. on top of its organic growth man.

York, Results may not be the most important thing but it gives the key indications of the past and future of the company. Velesto's director used the words "grave uncertainty" which indicates the future prospects of the company. We want to see the past to judge the company's ability to sail through the covid as well as the prospects to reaffirm our confidence and make decision to buy more or pare down our stakes.
