Calvin,
Its possible for it to show as pledged accounts, but the person pay cash right?
Probably unlikely but should be possible right? Not sure, never opened a margin account before.
Good morning Jon,
A pledged account is usually used as a security/collateral to borrow money. In share market financing shares are used as collateral. So there must be a reason why shares are pledged. However, shares could be fully paid up without any more margin needed. In that case the word "pledge" will be removed
In Malaysia Our Houses/Cars title deeds will have these words stamped
"Hak milik di tutut oleh (XXX Bank)" which means that they are used as collateral to borrow monies from Banks.
When a house or Car is fully paid the Bank will a discharge letter. And the word hakmilik will be "Di batalkan" which means discharged and no more owing money.
