The retirement age in Malaysia have reduced to 40 years old unoffically, mostly in private sector. Anyone above 40 years old is not considered at all unless the firm is hard pressed.
To make matters worse, jobs are contractual, meaning not permanent. Term and conditions are lopsided and bends towards modern slavery.
Restructuring and change of management are often cited to retrench workers.
Foreign workers are first choice for Malaysian employers. Locals are considered last and only if they are hard pressed for workers.
The blame is on the government for letting these manufacturers and businessmen to dictate their wish and flood the country with foreign workers. The government does not care about Malaysians.
