KUALA LUMPUR (June 2): Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), Celcom Axiata Bhd, and units from Maxis Bhd and DiGi.Com Bhd have been given the 700 megahertz (MHz) band of 5G network by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (KKMM).
In a Ministerial order by KKMM Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah dated May 15 posted on the official website, the five companies were awarded the 5G spectrum bands between 703MHz to 743MHz, and 758MHz to 798MHz.
This comes as a surprise to many in the industry who were expecting an open tender process to take place.
In particular, TM was awarded the 718Mhz to 723Mhz band, coupled with the 773Mhz to 778 MHz band as well.
Meanwhile, Maxis Broadband Sdn Bhd, a unit of Maxis Bhd, was awarded the 733MHz to 743Mhz range, as well as the 758Mhz to 768Mhz range.
Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of DiGi.Com, was awarded the 703MHz to 713MHz and 758Mhz to 768Mhz spectrum ranges.
Axiata Group Bhd’s unit Celcom Axiata Bhd received the 723MHz to 733MHz range, as well as the 778MHz and 788MHz spectrum range as well.
Altel Communications Sdn Bhd was granted the 713MHz to 718Mhz, and 768MHz to 773MHz ranges.
“The commission (MCMC) will take immediate action under the act and laws on relevant subsidiaries to implement the spectrum assignment to all license holders that have been mentioned in section 4 of this order,” Saifuddin said while adding the granting of such spectrum ranges comes with terms and conditions, and that he reserves the right to change, alter or cancel the order.
In its final report on the roll-out of 5G spectrum networks, the MCMC said that the 700MHz, 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) and 26/28GHz would be identified as pioneer spectrum bands for the implementation of 5G networks in Malaysia.
In particular, the 700MHz and 3.5Ghz networks would be awarded on a tender process, in order to reduce capital expenditure (capex) costs and prevent the duplication of infrastructure when improvements to 4G LTE networks are currently being implemented.
Nothing wrong to b a trader but b a ethical trader. I nvr badmouth redstone or binacom but still managed to pocket 80k since Feb from both. U earn much more by bad-mouthing?
How many mtns in Malaysia? Can u name them. I m talking about those who r qualified to submit proposal to MCMC. Not the 2nd tier paria contractors. Nfcp1 152towers. Nfcp2 500towers. That's just 3 4G & later serve as backbone for 5G. Not even tough 5G yet. Who r going to do those jod?
2. RAN last miles few got experience except redtone
3. Amtel got award but it is just an empty shell doing rent seeking Real job still need redtone skill. Redtone already established with skill for many years
REDtone has a team of 180 dedicated engineers who are equipped with the necessary skill-sets and technological knowledge. We have presence with technical support team at major cities in Malaysia i.e. Klang Valley, Johor Bahru, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Tawau, Miri, Sandakan, Labuan and Lahad Datu.
If u can find a more qualified candidate to implement Nfcp for Mcmc pls enlighten me. Majority of nfcp jobs r in Pahang, Kelantan, Trengganu, Sabah, Sarawak. There is non other mtns player besides Redtone who has adequate resources in Sabah n Sarawak.
It gaps up with volumes on 23/4 and hit a high of $0.495. Since then it has been trading sideways from $0.405 to $0.495, and $0.495 was tested few times but proved to be strong Resistance. The Gap of $0.375 to $0.41 has proved to be strong support. Today it closed with a Bullish Candle with volumes, I anticipate RedTone to test its Strong Resistance at $0.495 and in the event this level is broken, it should try its $0.54/$0.57. If it fails to clear $0.495, I will collect again when it is consolidating towards $0.405.
Nfcp 1 2 is to bring remote areas especially in Sabah Sarawak Pahang Kelantan Trengganu to telecommunication domain. Nfcp 4 is to connect orang asli settlements. These r the basic infrastructures. The gov needs Sabah '& Sarawak's vote. So u think the gov can proceed with ecrl n hrs and leave Sabahan & Sarawakian isolated from communication network? Which project will have the privilege?
Minister cancels 700MHz spectrum awards to TM, DiGi, Maxis, Altel and Axiata TheEdge Wed, Jun 03, 2020 04:45pm - 18 minutes ago
KUALA LUMPUR (June 3): Communications and Multimedia (KKMM) Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah has cancelled his order to award portions of the 700 megahertz (MHz) band to DiGi.Com Bhd, Maxis Bhd, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM), Altel Communications Sdn Bhd and Axiata Group Bhd.
In a statement today, the minister said that 18 instruments, including ministerial orders and findings regarding the usage of spectrum frequencies in the 700MHz, 900MHz and 2600MHz had been presented to him.
“Based on technical issues, laws and the need to follow a clear process, I have ordered the chairman of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to cancel the above orders and findings, and to reevaluate the instruments with immediate haste,” said Saifuddin in the statement.
Leading mobile service providers Maxis, Celcom and DiGi were awarded two bands of 10 megahertz (2x10MHz), while Altel, despite being a minor player, was given 2x5MHz. Telekom Malaysia, the state telecommunications firm which largely operates fixed line services, was allocated 2x5MHz.
