Mukhriz Mahathir, who has come under pressure following his father's tirade against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, will not relinquish his post as Kedah menteri besar.

According to the Star, he told reporters in Kerpan that the position was an "amanah (trust)" given by the prime minister.

"I feel there's no reason for me to let go of this position.

Need some clarification here.... Both DrM's sons are in Opcom. If Mukhriz shows support towards DrM (regardless whether Kedah UMNO is behind him or not) , don't you think Opcom's chances are slim in being awarded the TM HSBB2 project? TM's projects are highly political. In this case it's not too good for Opcom, right? Please comment. Thank you.

That is why mokhzani became new CEO. Before this 2 times opcom contracts blindly terminated by tm. After they appealed with somebody influenced, they managed to it back. Who are the "some body". New CEO want to pumps in new business to opcom coz there is no hope for new contracts from tm.

Shares on Bursa Malaysia are expected to trade higher next week supported by positive regional and domestic sentiment.

Affin Hwang Investment Bank vice-president/head of retail research Datuk Dr Nazri Khan Adam Khan said the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) is also expected to start accelerating and test the all-time high of 1896.23 recorded on July 8 last year.

He named the upcoming China stimulus, expectations of a delayed Fed rate hike and European liquidity, alongside a stronger ringgit, as among positive regional factors that could lift the local bourse.

On the domestic front, Nazri said the 11th Malaysia Economic Plan to be tabled in Parliament on May 21, will also lend a positive spillover effect on Bursa Malaysia..........@Ring......klci expected ti hit 1896

Last year Opcom to buy a 40% equity in Unigel (UK) Ltd, in which new deputy CEO Chhoa has a controlling 60% stake, will help expand its overseas business.

Unigel manufactures thixotropic gel at two plants in the UK and US that is sold to over 60 customers globally in the fibre-optic cable industry. In a circular to shareholders, Opcom said it itself was a customer of Unigel, relying solely on Unigel for that the gel due to its track record and reliability.
