CIMB is good to hold for Long term.. yet downside is another round of down selling.. who can predict this will happen?

To me buy small and average down every certain % is wise choice for undervalue stock like CIMB.. one day it can reach RM5+ when everything is right. Is this wise and welcome every comment.

U need to understand this banking principle loh...!!

CASHFLOW
NOT APPLICABLE HERE MAH...BCOS THE BANKS CAN BORROW WHATEVER MONIES FROM BANK NEGARA...THUS IMPAIRMENT MOROT0RIUM ON HP...ONLY AFFECT ONE TIME ADJUSTMENT ON THE BANK PROFITS LOH...IT WILL NOT AFFECT ITS VIABILITY AND ITS CASHFLOW...DUE TO STRONG BANK NEGARA BANKING LOH..!!

YES...BANKS CANNOT COLLECT 6 MONTHS HP INSTALMENT...DUE TO GOVT CONCESSION GIVEN TO THE RAKYAT....BUT SUBSEQUENTLY AFTER THIS ADJUSTMENT....THE BANK WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE MONIES MAH..!!

run as quickly as you can..... at the current interest rate they probably using your deposit to bet on the stock market too just like you since can't make anything from loans....

very incompetence, TnG could have been THE no.1 cashless payment in Malaysia but they don't even know how to begin, plus the huge impairment in Singapore now, no hope..... even their fellow banker AMinvest call sell target RM3....

Don’t you tell me one day financial service is no longer needed on the earth? Whatever provision it is, it is just an accounting item. Have some business sense. But it and hold for ten years. Ten years later your dividend can provide handsome passive income to you. Don’t tell me Bank will not grow for the next ten years given the fact that QE is on going.

Because of such mentality, ten years later you are still broke and counting your EPF for your retirement. But others are planning for living with higher standard.

Banks are ok, stable. I think people are concern about Q2 report and NPL after the 6 months memorandum thing. Many just stay at the side and wait. By the end of 2021, I think all bank stocks will be higher, so, for long term bank stocks are cheap already.

p.s. I dont own any bank stocks. Not yet.

Hahaha, I think strategy differs among people. Some hit and run, that’s why they only speculate on the Q2 report.

Who would want to do Panic selling over a strong undervalued company like CIMB?

Posted by melanie1818181818 > 2020-05-28 20:10 | Report Abuse

Bank stocks no good because glove stocks need support? 2 years later bet which one will give higher return, banks or gloves? Now is time to sell gloves to buy banks, not the other way round. Anyway, sold all gloves, locked in huge profits, all in banks

https://www.malaymail.com/news/money/2020/05/28/moodys-investors-service-liquidity-of-maybank-cimb-and-public-bank-to-remai/1870342

KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 — Moody’s Investors Service expects liquidity of Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank), CIMB Group Holdings Bhd and Public Bank Bhd to remain strong despite the Covid-19 pandemic, underpinned by deposit growth.

In its latest report, the credit ratings agency said the capitalisation of Malaysia’s three largest banks by assets should remain stable as capital generation would outpace capital consumption due to weaker loan growth.

Banks profit still far better than glove counter.. Even after provision for impairment.. Their profit is, billion not million..

Posted by melanie1818181818 > 2020-05-29 05:48 | Report Abuse

All priced in, bad quarter for banks is priced in the single digit PE and historical low PB. Good quarter for gloves is priced in the average PE 70!! If you don’t know what it means, forward PE is 70/2=35 or 70/3=23 if gloves profit x2 or x3 next year. Expectations are high but sustainable? When investment banks set super high TP and ask you to chase, you should do the opposite. Imagine comfort glove TP changed so quickly in matter of weeks from 1.xx to 3.xx. Btw, do you know that banks can sell their NPL after write downs and provisions? That’s why ppl say you can nvr outwit banks, because a 3rd party will still come after you after write down and provisions

For nearly three decades, the U.S. has given Hong Kong special status — letting goods flow back and forth without tariffs and people to fly in and out with no visas. Other countries do the same. That makes Hong Kong a vital business hub, according to Fraser Howie, an independent financial analyst in Singapore.

It’s a “very unique environment, different from the mainland,” Howie said. “Hong Kong was always seen as low-tax, exciting destination, a can-do type of place.”

If Washington ditches Hong Kong’s special status, there’d be “serious implications,” the U.S. Chamber of Commerce warned.

At this point its not valued or overvalued, we will need to refer to BNM policy. Rumor around is that another rate cut is very likely at next OPR meeting 7 July. Further cut will compress margin further, look at whole bank sector. Overall all banking stocks is consolidating close to march big fall.

With the current economic situation, I will not expect CIMB to go back to 5rm in a years time. But I think 4rm is a fair hope when the economy recovers. Of contra play is a big no no.
