The Star News 16June -
"A technical chartist said the KLCI had broken down technically and the immediate support was the 1,600 level. Adding to the worry was the weakening broader market and the ringgit which was hit by the decline in crude oil prices."

Trade with caution guys..good luck :)

Maybank is KLCI heavyweight...it may trigger panic selling if 1,600 level broken..
for whoever plan to avg down (including myself)..get ur entry point right..

Wondering how much money actually lost or paper loss when so many counters bleed. No support that can be depended upon.. not even technical rebounce.. bad times indeed.. hmm. So.. this is how.. a soon to be.. market crash starting to feel like..

Err.. richboy.. Maybank is like a fat cow.. easily ran down the hills.. but very slow to walk back up.. at times even slipped.. lol

Posted by JuniorInvestor > 2016-06-17 16:07 | Report Abuse

@The One any factors caused Maybank rebound strength lower than am bank?

Maybank normally has been well supported by EPF but unfortunately EPF has not been in a good mood lately and lost its strength to slice thru resistances as before (not sure why even considering this is Maybank.. the pride bank of Malaysia). Also.. C17 is expiring in a month.. so (hint) RHB will do its best with whatever means to curb any advances toward 8.2 to ensure its C17 value is toilet paper. Just my 2 cents laa..

Yup richboy.. me believe Maybank's price should've been much higher than currently. Not sure why it has been pushed down quite severely.. but of course for obvious reasons laa. Not that its goin' to dwindle down anytime soon, right?

> it is the largest bank by market cap (third largest stock and accounts for about 9% of the FBMKLCI) and has strong shareholders (Permodalan Nasional Bhd 44.7%, EPF 15.6%, Kwap 2.7% among others). These are strong shareholders which can withstand a major sell-off in the market.

> Its business model is resilient, with earnings largely from commercial banking and Malaysia-centric although it derives some earnings from its strong foothold in Singapore and Indonesia. We feel that it has a good balance of domestic earnings with touch of foreign flavour for diversification and growth.

> of attractive valuation currently – price to book (P/B) of 1.3 times (x) (FY16) which is way below its historical valuation of about 1.8x. In addition, it has a 2016 price earnings (PE) of 11.4x compared with the market, which has a 2016 PE of 14.8x. So it is not expensive compared to the market.

> it consistently has an attractive dividend yield, which is currently around 6.5%. If you buy Maybank shares low enough then there should be limited downside risk but get an attractive dividend of 6.5% per annum.

Compare this with investing money into one-year fixed deposit at the same bank which gives only about 4% per annum.

> We reckon Maybank would be among the first big cap stocks foreign funds would buy when they return to the local market. Any additional capital gains from investing in Maybank would be a bonus.

@hng33..superb

with my current avg price..div yield is @ 6.5%..much higher than on-going 4.31% Maybank 12m eFD promo...actually i combined both..for a balance portfolio..

also dont forget, EPF and Amanah Saham also giving 6.x% div yield (hope it will continue like this....)

EPF u can add contribution (beside statutory contribution) using Self-Contribution option via M2U or CIMB online....without any extra charge..
Amanah Saham (non-bumi scheme)..its all depends luck,..u only can deposit wherever there is quota.

Just for weekend reading..happy weekend guys!
