Six decades on, Malaysia’s revamped Genting Highlands sports new look to woo tourists....

On Top of the Hill No longer just a casino destination, the mountain top resort now known as Resorts World Genting draws well over 22 million visitors a year
Rooms in Genting Highlands are selling like hotcakes.... The majority of those who can't secure a room have no choice but to just do a day trip or stay at other areas such as mid-hill
I am sadly predicting half year performance below expectation, you see selling pressure as insiders being to load….normally you should see price rising even though overall market sentiment is pretty bad. Genting has been poor in managing costs and this will filter through lower profitability. The only big catalyst I see is Taurx.
Good point @Riaz1954. There are also numerous scenarios where stock prices rise before a financial report, but then the company announces disappointing results and the stock price tanks. Let's hope for the best outcome for Genting. Cheers!
Comparing Resorts World Sentosa and Resorts World Genting Highlands.... observe the following distinctions:
1) Resorts World Sentosa (Genting Singapore): - In 2019, Sentosa hosted nearly 20 million tourists, but ...not all of them visited Resorts World Sentosa. - The company has 12 billion outstanding shares. - Reported a net profit of 276 million during the first half of 2023.

2) Resorts World Genting (Genting Malaysia): - In 2022, Resorts World Genting welcomed 22 million tourists. - The company has 5.67 billion outstanding shares. - a loss in the first quarter of 2023

Paying a dividend when you have large debt is not sensible, short term pleasure and long term disaster. Good financial management is needed where costs are brought under control. This has sadly not been the case. Sale of Miami is needed and perhaps selling or listing of Las Vegas business to generate value…unfortunately climate is not right for that either.
have you people study how strong Genting in cash generation annually? if without any new expansion/new market. these cash potential can be part of dividend to shareholder. The cash is huge, you can see from all subsi, all are generating huge cash.

That FDA Adcomm meeting was probably arrangement so that amyloid critics were not in the 6 panel members (usually at least 10 members).
My conclusion is lecanemab n donanemab are both low efficacy symptomatic drugs (even less effective than aricept or Namenda approved some 20 years ago). The slopes on the graphs are all sloping downwards in parallel. A real disease modifying drug shd see the downward slopes diverging away, not parallel.
It seems there is accelerated disease progression when measuring natural biomarkers. Increased NfL n accelerated brain atrophy, the neuro-degeneration is actually even worse! Those trial endpoints are showing slowdown in decline due to the temporary symptomatic effects of those drugs (weaker than aricept). Long term use will be very harmful to the brain n accelerated brain degeneration. These points are not covered by many analysts besides some mentioning of ARIA issues (deaths) n expensive treatment costs including twice weekly intravenous, multiple PET n MRI scans.
Im expecting a patient class action law suit against Biogen and Lilly 3 years down the road when it becomes very obvious these amyloid drugs are causing much more nero-degeneration and harm despite giving patients weak symptomatic effects. Honestly patients are much better off with USD800/year oral medication now using generic aricept (Donepezil)/ Namenda generic drug, etc.
The "private value" of USD200-300 has been mentioned for many years. TauRx is a 30 year old "company". . . . The payoff might not be there. Don't buy GENTING just because it owned 20% of TauRx ... Buy GENTING for other reasons. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Drug research, development and approval process does take long time. So 15-20 year wait is not extraordinary event. If there was no hope than Taurx won’t be supported and would have been ditched long time ago. The question is whether the long wait will be fruitful? Agree nobody would buy Genting for Taurx….but it does add some spice.
One of the most undervalued shares has to be Ali Baba….for sure ….dogged mostly by political issues and now China slow down…..it’s rival Amazon despite correct in its price is valued 7 times more just because it is a US company.
One of the worst run companies …..around. Sorry to say that …no control over cost or business strategy for that matter……evidence the highest paid CEO….for business that generates losses….he get paid more than CEO of Rolls Royce, IAG, Ali Baba, and so on ………all perform better than Genting why….. because they have professional qualified leaders…..not family members…..than we have party related transactions ….now and than to dilute investors …..even more. Only way to make money is to watch out for any party related event…..
@Chan94 yes every directions points to a better environments for GenS, but the recent money laundering news initiate another selloff, even though its still cum div.
Genting is super cash cow. Even without profit, they still generate substantial cash. These cash are use to reinvestment or it can be dividend to shareholders. Good job Genting.
All said and done, GB will not have easy time to move up as 1) debt level servicing is so HIGH, 2) HIGHEST PAID CEO 3) Every now & then RPT !
So, mgmt is not changing their way. They work to serve themselves ONLY. Shareholders are a way to raise funds only. CEO, family, etc. control majority shares
Shareholders help them to become richer. Remember, they have the INSIDE INFO. You only find out when it is published.
Without Taurx becoming successful, GB is far, far, far away from the best shares to buy. In last 6m, a few shares rose over 40% !!! So, no big deal abt GB.
Taurx is the jewel in the crown. If it is successful, GB WILL MOVE UP !
