Based on the chart, investors' sentiment looks quite ok, so probably won't koyak anytime soon. CEO also hinted that they may give some kind of bonus to shareholders (special dividends?) from the proceeds of the sale of some assets, though I suppose that one is still quite far away

Potential stock price: RM 2.70 (personal opinion)

At the moment, it is influenced by the negative news of plantation which holds the potential of the stock back. Industrial segment is going strong soon according to reliable source.

In a nutshell, it is a good share to buy or keep for the anticipated rebound.

sime dividend is about 10~14 cent per year, tell me which counter can give u 10 cent min at this dirt cheap price ? most people dont buy sime because not many annalist did their home work on this counter which give opportunity to collect more and more

Hi Carry,

Just want to inform you that Sime Darby Berhad no longer has any exposure to the plantation industry. They spun off that segment end of last year which is now under Sime Darby Plantation Berhad. Another division that was also carved out was the property segment parked under Sime Darby Property Berhad.

Analysts (Aminvest, Kenanga and Public) are predicting that the company could fetch a PATAMI of RM825mil in FY19. At the current share price, that translate to a PE of around 20x which for me is consider a bit on the high side. Maybe you have a higher profit target? Can you share the potential catalysts for this stock? The same analysts also has an average dividend target or 7.5 sens or a dividend yield of 3% for FY19.

That being said i would not worry much on this stock falling down too low (if ever) since it has a lot of institution investors in it in particular PNB (under Amanah Saham Bumiputera).

now their fair value has emerge based on their last 4 quarter results since the split, any price spike would be due to speculative traders pump and dump, but i could see this hardly happen cause of the huge daily trading volume happening.

after splitting out their plantation and property segment, sime darby is left with automotive, heavy industrial vehicles, logistics and healthcare.

automotive and heavy industrial vehicles segment is where i see they have to increase their competitiveness, logistics is the challenging part due to trade wars, and healthcare is the segment that i keen to see sime darby accelerate their growth, that could be the key driver to their revenue and profit, and i hope they could also venture into new segment to increase income and reduce risk, else it just gonna stay at where they are now.

@factorrumour: Totally agree. But I thought Sime plans to dispose their logistics part? They have a few ports in China and want to sell it right? CEO even hinted at giving dividends from the proceeds of the sale.
