The EPS is up 5% QoQ. Down 9% YoY. Half Year down 4%.

I don't see anything alarming. The company is not in a growing phase and they are only at optimal size with healthy earnings.

The dividend payout is 3/6.7 = 45% which is very comfortable.

📌 9MFY24 core net profit came in within ours but below consensus’ expectations.

📌 The group declared a third interim dividend of 1.5 sen/share, bringing the YTD DPS to 4.5 sen.

📌 3QFY24 PBT dropped 41.8% YoY dragged by both softer demand from local O&G projects for the Trading Division as well as lower ASP and lower demand for the Manufacturing division.

📌 The group should register better performance in FY25 as the tenders for major projects such as PIPC are expected to commence in mid-2024.

Company has 225m cash and bank balance... only 12m in FD. They even had 205m in short term borrowings probably for buying materials. Why do they even waste the 225m when they can use it to buy materials with cash without using short term borrowings? Or at least put them in FD. If you assume short term borrowings as LC/BA/TR, at around 6% annually, they would have save millions in borrowing cost.

it's important to keep some cash and available credits especially to bid for new projects. Customersndo evaluate.the company cash flow to ensure their financial ability to take up expensive projects.

Interest from loans can help to offset some taxes. it's a smart way to optimise tax.

All smart biz ppl do take up loans and now you know why.

My bad, you reminded me of how the banks are operating. If you don't use a big portion of the facilities you secured, chances are they will be downsized in near future. I just thought that they could at least at least put some of these money to better use like short term FD which could be redeemed to payoff these operating capex borrowings if necessary.

From 2019 to 2023
Revenues grew >50% from 609m to 1,038m.
Gross profit grew 100% from 140m to 274m
Pretax income and Net income grew 250%.

Funds from operations were positive every year during this period.
Working capital increased during this period (increasing AR and inventories) in keeping with increased revenues.
Due to working capital changes, its NOCFs were volatile and negative in 2 of these 5 years. Overall, NOCF generated over the 5 years was 252.7m.
Its capex for the 5 years was -90.7m.
Its total FCF for the 5 years was 162m (averaging 52m per year).
It paid out 104.3m as dividends during the 5 years and this is a DPO of 35%.

In general, its business which is volatile (though profitable, the earnings are not consistent and not growing consistently), is enjoying a very good stretch this period. Its revenues and profits are the highest for this 5 year period.

The price of Pantech today is MYR1.06 and in 2019 it was MYR0.50. (100% rise).

Has the price reflecting already these good performance?
Will its good earnings sustain or increase in the next few years?
Is 2023 good performance, pent-up rebound demand from the Covide pandemic period?

If you can predict its revenues and earnings going forward, and with clarity, then you can value the share and thus make an intelligent investment.

Over the last 5 years, it generated 297m in net earnings, that is about 60m per year.
Over the last 5 years, it generated 162m in FCF, that is about 32 m FCF per year.

The above translates into Earning Yield of 6.83% (PE of 14.6) and FCF yield of 3.64%. (=32m/878m)

Notice a significant drop in the prices before the financial announcement. Bursa and SC should be more pro active in clamping down on insider's trading. Otherwise how are investors going to trust the exchange. I personally have invested in SGX.

weixuan, the number in sector report is most likely a typo, maybe last price instead of TP. Bloomberg still show TP RM1.17 and his last peer comparison table also show RM1.17. Usually analysts won't change TP without another company report unless whole sector experiences a change like cukai makmur.
