I think this counter is undervalue and everybody know it. The problem is no body believe this counter will goreng or believe the report is too good to be true. China company = risk = emerging market. Maybe they think the risk is too high.
Net dividends for FY10 & FY11 were 2.5 sen & 3.11 sen respectively, that translates to net dividend yield of 6.7% & 8.3% at today closing price of 0.375. PER (FY12) = 2.1x.
A company which gave out cash dividend is less likely to have accounting fraud since they need hard cash to back it up. Those who did accounting trick are likely to give out bonus or shares dividends since nothing is really given out!
As long as its earning is growing at double digits rate as it did in the last few years, they are likely to increase the cash dividend in the future. A long-term investor should hold MSports for its dividends & potential capital gain once the market recognize its value!
In contrast, the risk of oversea stocks (china) is way higher than domestic stocks. This stocks is very hard (still possible) getting recognize its value by domestic institutions and investors. Reason? 肥水不流外人田!
Smart move :). From my calculation, it has RM0.44 net cash/share in Mar12 results, if you can buy at RM0.50 then you actually spend only RM0.06/share to buy it :).
Stupid md , keep so much cash for what? Borrow from bank la, then capital repayment to shareholder, everybody happy. Or use share back back la, so rich then don know invest.
if buy every penny that have now and can wait for another 2 years, i'm sure will come out as a winner. This stock 1 year flat no movement hovering around few cents.
I think the reason why the price drop is due to worst than expected earnings in 2QFY12(Jun12). It still profitable but PAT drop 28.8% year-on-year & drop 3.2% quarter-on-quarter. Also due to worry of China hard landing. However, EPS(2Q12) is 3.11 sen & annualized to 12.44 sen & PER=2.4x(at RM0.30). Net cash is now RM0.49.
According to OSK Research: “The dip in 2Q revenue was mainly due to lower orders due to more rigorous client screening by the company in order to prevent bad debts. We expect the group’s revenue to normalize around 4Q and the full year performance to be generally slower compared with last year.”
This shows that the management is prudent & conservative & preparing for the worst case scenario (China hard landing). Hence, even if the worst do happen in the future, it will not suffer that much! If the revenue can normalize around 4Q as expected by OSK then there’s still hope. Revenue downturn could be temporary.
In the past 2 years, the company recommended dividend when they announced the 1Q results in end May. So watch it carefully, if they give >= 3.11 sen dividend then the dividend yield is still very good!
I’m no sifu, just share my analysis on this stock.
From the announcement, the new substantial shareholder is CIM Dividend Income Fund Limited, British Virgin Islands. It is a foreign fund. Its last bought was 1,150 lots on 11/10/12 where market prices was $0.295-0.30. (unlike directors, substantial shareholders don’t have to report their transaction prices & we can only guess them from the market prices). It must be accumulating recently until it has >5% shares & become a substantial shareholder. However, we can’t guess its earlier buying prices since it doesn’t have to report those transactions before it becomes a substantial shareholder.
Since its name suggests that it is an Income Fund, it must be aiming for the dividends. This is logical since if MSports gives same dividends as last FY (3.11 sen net), the net dividend yield would be 10.4% (at $0.30). In addition, it has RM0.49 net cash as at Jun12. Funds usually has professionals to do research & analysis for them, if they have confidence with MSports, most likely MSports is worth buying.
However, there are still risks like whether MSports’ earning growth will resume to previous double digit rate, whether China economy will slowdown or even hard landing. Dividend is not guaranteed & it depends on the earnings of the company, if the company earnings weaken, it may not give good dividends.
We may need to watch closely whether this foreign fund continue to buy in the future. If so, then they have very high confidence & may worth following especially if the price drop below its buying prices.
Thanks for the info , jpleow... Need to look on the Q3 financial result which will announce in November. To see any further weaken earning for MSport before buying in... Hope CIM Dividend Income Fund will buying further into MSport counter... As i saw last time, CIM Dividend Income Fund got purchase in NV Multi Corp Bhd share which been privitised in 2010.
Summary of foreign fund transactions in MSports: {in brackets are announcement date, total & % shareholding, market low-high prices & total # lots. L=lot.}
This fund is buying quite aggressively recently, they must have a lot of confidence in MSports! Probably they have done a company/plant visit & interviewed the management & their analysis on the industry outlook & China economy is positive.
Look like Msport justify as dividend play counter under the portfolio of CIM Dividend Income Fund Limited... It should provide support for the share price & credibility for this China based counter listed in Bursamalaysia... As we know many ppl fear to invest in china based counter due to accounting fraud... Isn't this the sign to buying in this counter??
Limited downside due to buying support of foreign fund, high dividend yield, potential capital gain, recent signs of China economy stabilizing, … hmm, sound like good time to bargain hunt / bottom fishing for long term investors! :)
Hi jpleow , any idea on who are the seller around price 32-33sen??? Do you know if Msport founder acquire or dispose the share, do Msport need to announce in bursa on the changes in substantial shareholder ???
No idea, it could be anyone. Anyway the volume are small, could be just some small fish cutting loss.
If MSports founders acquire or dispose shares, they will have to report to Bursa in both 'changes in substantial shareholder interest' & 'Changes in Director's Interest' since they are both directors & substantial shareholders.
We wait n see the result announcement ..... as Msport got 20% of the earnings payout as dividend by management... better result maybe higher dividend payout, lower result will get lesser dividend ...
Saw CIM dividend income fund start disposing Msport share 21 & 22 Nov... What is their intention of disposing it now? anybody to advise.. Or they want to push the share to lower price & buying it back at lower price ??
It's really puzzling. Maybe they just sell some of those shares that they bought at around $0.29-0.30, takes some profit in view of uncertainty? Or maybe they just want to trade MSports?
However, the most important thing is still the upcoming quarterly results. If it improves at least QoQ then price should remain firm.
Yes, agree with you , jpleow... the quarter result will be the impetus to the share price of Msport.... Should be announce by this week.... The company mgt. should do share buy back exercise to support the price of the company as it always keep dropping ..
price keeping lower at 0.27 now, profit margin getting lower over year. Even in term of PER, price/NTA is seems good buy but lack of corporate new to spur the price. May as the acquired target since piling of cash now. They need more renovative idea to make their company more sexy in front of investor
