there are only 2 main takaful players in malaysia:
one is this Syarikat Takaful Malaysia
the other is Etiqa, which is under Maybank
for many years, bankers have been pushing Maybank to list its Etiqa, but since Etiqa contributes a big chunk of profit to Maybank, they refused

For Family Takaful: Etiqa + STM together accounts for about 50% of market share!
For General Takaful: Etiqa + STM together accounts for about 75% of market share!

Etiqa & STM are the main players, the rest are small players

that is old data, based on latest 2021 AR, STM market share are:
family takaful: 20% (ranked No. 2) , drop from 28% in 2018
General takaful: 24% (maintain at the same lvl since 2018)

so the conclusion is STM family takaful market share has been reducing most likely due to FWD. let wait for the 2022 AR then we will know is the market share continues to drop.

Takaful is Malaysia 2nd largest Islamic insurer after Etiqa. If it is in trouble, Malaysia is in trouble, PMX is in trouble.
