@Dave, you should be a happy person if you are making money from the sale of your telcos stocks......but your comments and outpouring of emotions are telling a different story......my advice is don't play contra, aiming to get rich overnite....and get caught with your pants down.

singh, since you dont want to answer in Kfima thread my question, i post it here again. Maybe you are worried the bighats in Kfima will bamboo you!

singh, if digi hits RM3, what is lowest possible price for Kfima?
i dont buy breweries, please read up. Only good telco :)

let us reason then like gentleman, and not make it personal. If you can see a blue chip falling to RM3, you can surely calculate how low the price of Kfima and GasMsia can go right? I am sure you can! :)

ok, i am sure many here will ask you KFima in a few days. How many days you need for that? we are very open and forgiving! even you need extra time to suddenly consult charts also (no more looking beyond? confusing la!?!), we can give you extra time. Just give us a timeframe like you did Digi 0-15 months! :)

boleh ah singh?

the easiest thing to do is look at the charts...it helps in predicting future prices...but just a tool...lots of other factors too..you should try it..for example...look up graph for ppbank and look up chart for maybank and tell me what you see.. 20 years charts..

kcchongnz, it might be of interest for you to know their method too! afterall, KFima is in your radar too! maybe your input may be good from a FA point of view when singh has kept to his word and return with a figure when Digi is RM3 between now and 15 months!

i have always thought highly of your analyses!

K C Loh, I tried to learn TA also. You see the famous Malaysian bloggers are mostly TA based. Dali, Alex Lu etc. Many formal FA people also went TA leow. Who doesn't want to make money man. Also read thoroughly the book by Corey Rosenbloom: "The complete trading course". Catch no balls. Maybe my mind is too closed. I can't imagine one can predict how the crowd of thousands of people would move, just by looking at the footsteps of the previous crowd. You know thousands of them.
Yeah K C Loh, though we may have different views, I respect yours very much too.

Purebull, kcchongnz has been a positive contributor all these while. He started out as an angry man, of which the reasoning escapes me. But lately, the "fire" in him abated somewhat from my observation in his postings, even admitting sometimes he makes mistakes.

But mind you, overall, i welcome positive contributors like him! he is a boon to the forum and for people like me in case i have the mentality i know it all! The world always have smarter people than us even when we don't want to admit it! staying grounded! :)

@kcchongnz, Charts as in Technical Analysis? When it comes to predicting, all of us are doing/have to do it regardless of his method:-) Even if one prefers fundamentals over TA, he *is* forecasting what the future may likely hold when he makes a trade - buys when he forecasts (although we often use "thinks") the company/counter will do well or sell when it's otherwise. We have to do this because we don't know the future until it actually happens.

From my understanding, the better use for charts is to spots patterns in the counter's price movements which come about due to the actions by various faceless people behind these. I'm still in the greenhorn category when it comes to TA and the usage of charts. But have to admit that they are very useful in helping me know more about a counter's movement tendencies. Coupled with fundamentals, plus that unscientific gut feeling factor, charts help a lot with the trading decisions.

By the way, for those who are also relatively new with TA, here is a good site where you can start: http://agorafinancial.com/trading-experiment/?page=portal

Take the time to follow this particular module, including in doing the pre-lesson and post-lesson quiz. Plus watch the 30-minute video.

The Agora Financial training module: although I'm trying to implement what I've recently learned i.e. in trading counters with ascending triangles, I'm also using `my own system' when trading call warrants. With CWs, one often have to jump the gun, use gut feeling and simply jump in.

Like today - I've been following the telcos and despite their TAs not indicating a "Buy", I still went in for TM-CU. Reason? Ex price of 6.00 and ratio of 5:1 are reasonable, and I have until 30/9/13 for it to move. At 0.04... I'm willing to risk it regardless of what the charts say. Should TM stage a mild rebound of just a few sen in the next few days, I don't think I can get the CU at that price again. And you guys who are also into warrants should know this - it doesn't take too much for a CW to rise 30%.

SELL TELCOs the big boys are selling and will not be buying anytime soon...commensense...almost 20% of portfolios are in telcos.. if u want to make profits and run.. what do you sell?? easy answer... telcos... think about it.. dont care about PE ratios, profits.. because the market is about making money and emotions on top of numbers...

Slow downtrend in markets means local funds selling... not foreign funds...so that means portfolio reorganization going on.. there will be some losers and some winners..the worst kind of market is a slow downward market..think about it...

Mat Cendana, thanks for the link on TA. I guess TA is like a religion, whether you believe and have fate on it. And I think it is also a good guide for your punting on call warrants; because in punting call warrants, we don't care much about the fundamentals of the business. We only care about price and volume. Of course the other more important thing is some knowledge of probability. For investing, I think the fundamentals of a business are more important. One thing about TA is that one is using a strategy for gambling. with who? Big timers, insiders, remisiers etc whose rice bowls depend on all these charts. Hence the odds are against a small timer. I am a gambler as you know, but I don't like odds stacked against me.

Posted by Fat Cat Tim Buddy > 2012-11-21 10:28 | Report Abuse

mc dont invest in alcohol stock like gab, because he/she is a muslim, but he/she punt warrant like a gambler hahaha

anyhow, call warrant is a zero sum game, if you win, someone else must lose, so i dont think anyone will argue about cw is different from gamble.

kcchongnz, Actually many people do read your posts on CWs... because there are many people here who are into it. But they might be more focused on different counters... their own favourites. I'm okay with any counter, as long as it's not obviously `haram' like GAB, Genting and the likes.

Main criteria - 1) Fundamentally okay 2) TA shows an uptrend. But often we have to jump the gun. Can't wait for it to breakout first before buying. By then it would be too expensive and risky, without a safety margin.

By the way, the Dialog-CL you mentioned is doing well today:-) It's already profitable but I think I'm going to wait a bit. The possibility of it striking is quite good.

Playing call warrants is really gambling, no doubt about it. You win some. and lose some. Hopefully the earlier one. It all depend on how the underlying shares are moving, for you or against you. Some of the call warrants I talked about, one will lose money, sometimes a lot too. For example AA CW, from 4 and 4.5 sen to 2 to s.5 sen now. Sime CR, you should laugh already if you don't lose money when I said "punt" when it was 3.5 sen. Can't help because we bet that the mother share will go up but they didn't. And the loss is amplified because of the big gearing. Of course if you follow me in Dialog CL, DRB CJ, Asupreme LA etc, you could have made big money too if, only if you are smart enough (or rather lucky enough) to sell at the right time. There is no free lunch here.
