but there is huge sell Queue at 1.80, prohibiting it from going any further beyond this point. there were few attempts to break this mark but to no avail.
Foreign fund want to take advantage of weak ringgit. They will push up the price when ringgit is stronger and sell their shares
With the revelation of gst will be charged to service tax by Oldtown, I believe they will be affected from their dine-in restaurant. However their FMCG will grow.
the 6% on a 10% service charge means you are only paying an additional 0.6% extra on the food price. All this while they are charging gov tax of 6% and 10% service charge. and I think it works on all eateries which charges SC, not just OldTown. If you can afford to pay RM10 for a bowl of noodles, I dun think you will feel the pinch of the additional 6 cents now.
0.6% might look small in percentage, but can be big in ringgit value. People will have less reason to go to Oldtown and might prefer to eat at cheaper restaurant or even at home.
what I mean is the 0.6% is translated into 6 cents for a bowl of noodles of RM10. if you are prepared to have a bowl of noodles for RM10 instead of RM5 outside at the hawker stalls, I don't see why people should make a big fuss about the 6 cents GST.
my place hawker stall already increase their price. they take advantage of GST ! and the reason they give, because every where price of things increase, so they will increase also. and FYI, hawker stall profit margin is so much higher than shops. thats why they can afford to buy big cars and go vacation every year. non taxable income.
most likely, they have been buying for a week consecutively since 20+ March, at around 1.70-ish... now waiting for playmakers, this counter is very lukewarm
@AidenWFW: Fundamentally speaking, yes. Oldtown is cash rich and it has consistently chalked up good revenue and profit. It is trading below its book value of RM2.40. But there may be a slight drop in profit by about 14% for FY16. Chartwise, prices have been falling since April 30, and it looks like it is bottoming. But it may be too early to tell. You may want to wait a little longer for a buy signal.
earnings announcement should be around the corner, these few days. high chances expected increased revenue but reduced earning margins again. wonder if they will declare a small dividend to reward the patient shareholders. cause really boring la this counter. no movement at all
