Interesting with the deal is that it's backdated to 31st December 2022 so all profits from Total Energies accrue to Hibiscus so the final consideration may be significantly less given oil prices over the last 18 months..

No new debt either. Seems like the final consideration accruing profit will be slightly less than US$200 Mill as Totla Energies PAT for last year was around RM160 million, assuming a close in October this year around US$60 Million will also accrue to Hibby.. Sounds like another excellent deal.

Gas is much more better assets and environmental friendly due to less co2 compare to oil.. Gas price will be higher in the future

Profit after tax for Totla = RM 160 million = US 34 million
and this year till oct est US 60 million, total approx US 100 million

less pruchase price = US 260 million = net purchase cost = US 160 million

ROE = say US 40 million/US 160 million = 25%

Good return but why Brunei want to sell..?

（吉隆坡14日讯）大红花石油（HIBISCS，5199，主板能源股）以2.6亿美元（约12.2亿令吉）收购道达尔能源公司（TotalEnergies）汶莱业务，获得当地一油田的联营经营权。
配合此宣布，大红花石油今早起暂停交易一整天，直到下周二复市才恢复交易；而其最后的作价为2.43令吉。
大红花石油今早向马交所报备，已与法国道达尔能源签署买卖协议，收购道达尔能源EP（汶莱）公司的全部股权。
完成收购后，大红花石油也将获得汶莱Maharajalela Jamalulalam（MLJ）油田B区块的37.5%的经营权。
此油田的联营方，还包括婆罗洲壳牌（35.0%），以及汶莱能源勘探公司（27.5%）。
大红花石油称，此油田在当地是近海优质天然气资产。若油田联营方同意延长，该资产拥有最多15年的长期产出权，并于2039年11月23日到期。
此油田资产将为大红花石油的2P储量添加2170万桶油当量（MMBOE），即把6090万MMBOE推升至8260万MMBOE。
而石油、凝析油和天然气的每日产量则从2万1398桶，增至2万9263桶。
董事经理肯尼恩佩雷拉表示：“此次交易除了提振公司产量，使我们的天然气产量提高近86%之外，还是进军汶莱能力领域的良机。”
