KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's national car maker Proton Holdings Bhd today unveiled its two new models, the Preve and Exora, for the
Australian market at the 2012 Australian International Motor Show.

In a statement issued from Sydney, Proton said the stylish mid-sized sedan, Preve, is now officially open for booking there, while the spacious seven-seater Exora will go on sale in mid-2013.

Both variants will be powered by Proton's turbo engine coupled with a seven-speed continuous variable transmission technology.

"We want to emerge stronger as a global car company and redefine Proton as both a product and brand in the realm of a rapidly evolving and highly competitive global automotive industry.

"And to do this, we are strengthening our presence in key strategic markets, including Australia," said Executive Chairman, Datuk Seri Mohd Khamil Jamil at the unveiling.

He also said the company had been working very closely with Proton Cars Australia, to ensure all future vehicles launched in the country meet its aspiration to produce the right car at the right time, and at the right price. -- BERNAMA
