Researches at the University of Bologna in Italy created two simple reinforcement-learning-based pricing algorithms and set them loose in a controlled environment to learn their behaviour. To their surprise, the prices of goods started to go higher when they learnt how to collude.

yes and no.
last time i wanted to buy a gardening tool online. just so happen i was around a Mr DIY, I went in and found the same gardening tool a couple of ringgit cheaper than the cheapest one online!
goes to show: ONLINE NOT NECESSARY CHEAPER!
