Perak Transit Bhd, an Ipoh-based bus company, is raising RM10mil from the public through a new crowd funding platform, even as the company prepares for a listing on Bursa Malaysia later this year.
Managing director Datuk Seri Cheong Kong Fitt said the money raised would be used to purchase more land, provide downpayment for new buses, as well as upgrade the Aman Jaya Terminal.
“We also plan to build a new bus terminal in Kampar. We aim to be listed on the ACE Market on Bursa Malaysia this year, so we are now trying to get the working capital needed,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after the listing of Perak Transit on the investment account platform (IAP) on Tuesday.
The IAP is a centralised multi-bank platform that enables investors to directly finance ventures of their choice according to their risk-return preferences.
Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd is the sponsor for the Perak Transit’s listing on the IAP.
The RM10mil term financing facility for three years is expected to generate a return of 6.5% a year to investors.
The yield, according to Bank Muamalat chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Redza Shah Abdul Wahid, is “a very attractive proposition.”
“We have also set the minimum investment at RM10,000 to encourage all types of investors, especially retail ones, to invest,” he said at the event.
The bank is also fully underwriting the facility and will take up any shortfall not subscribed by investors.
“RAM Ratings will evaluate and provide an independent rating on the company,” Redza said.
Perak Transit is the first venture to be listed on IAP.

Their main profit source is terminal operations. And their terminal operations have very high margins as well. I don't get why you all so focused on their bus operations. And unlike KTB, they have multiple revenue streams.

About 2 year ago few articles wrote on this terminal.....underutilised, white elephant project, isolated terminal, Ipoh people don't like it, proposed another mini bus terminal in ipoh, allowed certain bus like plusliner, Maju etc to pick up and drop passengers at other places, PR govt especially DAP against this terminal...... best to study first....especially expected GE is next year....perhaps after CNY.

If this is the case, this was 2 years ago. Right now things are very different. If you go there during the holidays, you will see traffic has increased.

Bus will the be #1 mode of transport as more ppl sell their cars and switch to public bus transport. This will increase Ptrans top line and bottom line. Rated BUY for the longer term.

Many factories and govt offices located at their bus station area. Strategic location. Buy for long-term. Sure untung.

2016-10-06 09:30
No one would sell car and take bus la .... switch to new Proton Saga or Persona perhaps.
Transport Hub, Perak has no MRT like Klang Valley so bus is the next best available public transport.
