NEW YORK, June 17 -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.22 percent to 105.320 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro climbed to 1.0736 U.S. dollars from 1.0700 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2707 U.S. dollars from 1.2682 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.70 Japanese yen, higher than 157.28 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.8899 Swiss francs from 0.8903 Swiss francs, and it dropped to 1.3722 Canadian dollars from 1.3740 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 10.4811 Swedish kronor from 10.5256 Swedish kronor.
