PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) remains firm in its decision to shut down any religious school found to be linked to teachings that deviate from Islam.

This action follows reports of a major raid on 20 charity homes connected to Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holding (GISB).

Council chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) has been instructed to investigate all religious schools and welfare homes linked to GISB.

"This statement also refers to several videos circulating on social media regarding allegations of GISB's involvement and several Islamic schools under its network in spreading teachings that deviate from true Islam.

"Based on the viral videos, GISB has been associated with the teachings of the Al-Arqam Group, which was banned in Selangor through three fatwas gazetted on Feb 4, 1993, Aug 11, 1994, and Dec 2, 2006," Buletin Utama reported today.

He said strict orders were issued to any educational institution in Selangor found to be promoting beliefs that contradicted Islamic teachings.

"Jais has been instructed to conduct an immediate investigation into all charitable homes and Islamic schools associated with GISB and its network to ensure that no teachings contrary to true Islam are being propagated at these institutions."

"If any charitable home or Islamic school is found to be involved in spreading deviant teachings, enforcement and prosecution under the Syariah Criminal Enactment (Selangor) 1995 must be carried out immediately," he added.

He said Mais would not hesitate to revoke the registration of any school that spread deviant teachings under the Islamic Religious Schools Control Enactment 1988.

The council, he said, was ready to cooperate fully with the police in monitoring the case related to the allegations against GISB.

GISBH's head Nasiruddin Mohd Ali, in a video posted on GISBH Holding's Facebook page, denied allegations of child exploitation and sexual offences against minors, except for "one or two" cases.

He also denied claims that the company had prepared "air berkat" using leg hairs and water, describing them as baseless and disgusting.
