Working Experience
Since his graduation in 1988, Encik Mohammad Hazani bin Hj Hassan has had a varied career spanning 28 years in both government and private entities in Malaysia and abroad.
From 1988 to 1993, he was employed as a Section Head of Engineering at Omron (M) Sdn Bhd. Prior to Omron, he was an Assistant Research Officer at SIRIM Berhad.
Between 2001 and 2012, he was a Principal at Kumpulan Modal Perdana Sdn Bhd ("KMP"), a government-backed venture capital company. While working with KMP, he spent a 3-year stint as a Venture Partner at High-Tech Venture Capital LP in the Silicon Valley's Menlo Park, California. The assignment in the Silicon Valley has broadened his experience and knowledge of Venture Capital Management particularly in high technology start-ups.
Prior to KMP, he was the Assistant General Manager at Malaysian Technology Development Corporation Sdn Bhd ("MTDC"). He was part of a pioneering investment and special project team responsible for identifying potential investments in potential growth-companies, particularly those involved in E&E and emerging technologies. Several of those companies were already listed on Bursa Securities. He left MTDC in 2001 after an 8-year stint but later rejoined MTDC in 2012.
Currently, he is the Director of Technology Ventures Division at MTDC. He oversees the day-to-day operations of Venture Capital Funds, Research & Development Funds and Grants, and other alternative financings. Besides overseeing the fund management, he also is actively involved in various committees and technical working groups at MOSTI.
He also sits as an Exco Committee member of the Malaysian Venture Capital Association and several MTDC investee companies as their Board member.
