Evergreen had mentioned in the recent reports that the average selling price has been increased.
This is because when oil price is higher, middle east countries are doing better and are willing to pay higher price to buy the MDF... this can help absorb the higher raw material costs...

In the latest Q3 2017 report, u can see that Malaysia segment (revenue and profit) is better than 2016.
Only thailand segment was poorer due to:
lower sales volume as a result from stoppage of one production line in Thailand plant / increase in log price and higher repairing and upgrading costs incurred during stoppage time.

when the thailand line is back to normal operation, we can expect Q4 to be better

but in recent months (until today, almost end of 2017), we have seen the effect to subside, just that we are not sure if the supply of the log has improved... it may take some time to recover...

Uchitec is one of my best performing stocks this year although some other stocks do not perform that well in the interim.

I don't think they are over confident and being too risky...

1) They first planned to build the Vietnam Garment Factory
2) then, they dare to put that on hold (knowing that this would cause ppl sell down their shares).
3) They do this for the sake of the company and the shareholders... instead of being too risky and over-confident, they decided to put that on hold... they did their risk assessment.
4) they put the focus back on the fabric mill.
5) why? even if they can't consume all the fabric (in current plan, they definitely cannot consume all internally), they can still sell the excess to 3 parties.
6) they can save raw material costs (vertical integration) and can earn profit by selling the extra fabric.

these few days I keep collecting Evergreen cheap and am pretty happy to see it slide further, frankly speaking! haha

In Evergreen latest report, they did mention about the contribution from the particleboard.
another thing to note is they are also creating new lines for RTA (with even better profit margin).

Second, even if they have, pls do not exaggerate the effect of the typhoon. it is only short-term and is not expected to have pro-longed adverse impact to the operation

- let's think what kind of industry is worth to be transitioned to "automation" vs "man labor"
- When I said "worth", think about the start-up, operation, maintenance, etc costs to sustain automation versus human labor to see if it is a more cost effective method or more expensive method

wilsonchan87, one thing to note is: the typhoon (even if it really hits) seems to only last about a week or less. Will it impact log sawing activities adversely? If it can bring severe and prolonged floods, then that is another story.
