EPf is not the only fund playing in the market. Insurance co are also there besides banks unit trust.

The plan is probably for promotional period. Once it is over, it will revert to normal rates. If it is revolutionary, Celcom will also have to close shop. And P1 in renting the network wholesale fr Celcom.

Its merger with CIMB RHB failed because if MBSB were to used BNM guidelines for NPL, it is worth far less than the owners sought. It has asset quality problems.
The economic cake is smaller now n banks are very competitive. Once the bank has little or no loan growth, they will retrench the staff to cut cost. The question the customers ask is: "is yr offer cheaper than other banks" and not whether you practise ethical banking.
The moment you walk into a conventional bank with Islamic window, the staff will just sign u up for Islamic banking just to fill the target. It has nothing to do with ethical banking.

Your rivals could easily duplicate yr package n yr first mover advantage will not last long. Some ppl porting to other telcos but some using other telcos are porting to Maxis. It is highly competitive now.

Hi Angie, they proposed 12c dividend but there are no dates for payment yet. Provided when they announce the ex date, you are still a shareholder of Axiata, u are eligible.

Things are clearer of Digi now. From HLB report involving 3 independent insiders in the telco industry. At present Digi does not have 900Hz band, this resulted in less than optimum quality of its network.
Things have changed: The have recently been allocated 900Hz band. It means the quality of their network will improve a lot going forward. They have minimal debt n can afford to pay spectrum fees without over-borrowing. Its dividends no problem. the pricing of its products affordable considering GST effect on us. It has no legacy problems involving 700hz band n is able to deploy LTE much faster than Maxis n Celcom. A good bet if u still want to be in the telco sector. The HLB report has also been posted by some forumers in this blog.

There is so much uncertainty in the telco sector.

I sold off TM last month for a small profit. Its price hardly move. It seems P1 is selling below cost for its new launch to get market share. In the short term, P1 does not contribute to TM's profit.
As for Maxis, Amanah Raya is the buyer. It would probably settle around 5.8 ++. Its network is still the best. Packages can be refined. The Edge today, ... the player that benefit most is Axiata.
For the time being, I am staying out of telcos.

Well cooling, yr post is enlightening. Hoping maxis will tweet their package further. I am suffering from slow broadband speed using Digi even in the heart of the town. A year ago, I was unable to call from using my Digi line from ClubMed Bali but my room mate's line using Maxis has no problem.

TM's Pi offering is said to be RM10 for 8GB. This is what I heard from those coffee shop talks.
Now, I am not investing in the telco sector. P1 is said to ride on Celcom's network. It means Celcom, Digi, Maxis, Umobile will soon lose its customers.

no need to praise its rivals sky high. They are all the same.I am currently not using Maxis line. If their new plans are reasonable, I would like to try.

an insight fr CEO of Telonor
He was asked why a rival (Umobile) can offer packages cheaper than Digi. The CEO answered umobile is probably selling its products below cost. They may get more customers while their profit will not increase n ultimately they will suffer network congestion.
2016-04-09 21:21 | Report Abuse
Bear in mind Umobile is still making losses. With the increase in spectrum fees, it may have to list in Bursa to fund their network

Xox is an MVNO meaning it does not own any network. They rent those MNO networkwholesale n eke out small profit margins. Now it is a tough business for telcos as gomen have announced increase in spectrum fees n a price war is going on among telcos. Xox pays rentals to those with network like Digi, Maxis or Celcom n makes small profit or even losses.

I hope they are not caught with their pants down like Maxis thinking that their cheaper packages can buffer their slow speed.
I am using postpaid. The offer a limited number of calls n sms beyond which they will charge. When data limit is used up, internet will stop. The telco war is on. So wake up

Thanks kcyin, yr comments offers the most insight into what actually went wrong. This is an important lesson to those in the marketing line. Those guys in Maxis were caught with their pants down. The price war was started by Celcom when they too experienced the large exodus of customer.
Well, they would experience lost of some subscribers n learn this lesson. Restructure their package to make more attractive n start another price war.

Yes I agree but I don't how banks employ their marketing planner. I presume u are in the marketing line having this knowledge.

In truth, it is the big funds like ASM, EPF which determine the price. None of them are going to make it fall like no tomorrow which can damage their own investments. One day they sell and the next day they buy it back.

They offered higher interest rates for new funds brought into the bank. But yr existing funds kept at the bank are not entitled to the higher interest. My question is "are all my existing funds already in the bank NOT IMPORTANT to the bank? " In that case, I can shift it to other banks.

Years back, I was made a fool by Celcom n I never want to patronize them again. There is no such thing as brand loyalty.

Ha Ha, don't be so emotional. I was also being made a fool by DIGI and I am thinking to port to Maxis now.

Whatever mistake they have done earlier is theirs and not mine to care. I care for the present moment only.

Other telcos also did these stupid things. One of them is DIGI. I have written comments about it earlier. Imagine you can't receive calls n sms in yr house and you complained. But they did nothing. BUT the bill came and ask for payment. How do u feel?
I was at the handphone shop when the incident happened n I happened to see a businessman living in my area buying a handphone which can handle 2 sim cards. He told me he did not want to be held hostage by any telco. The whole episode lasted 1 month over.
I have commented on DIGI's facebook n yet nothing happened. Maybe it the problem is not widespread. If they are that responsible they should have at least given me some discount on the monthly bill. Due to their fault, I was forced buy another line from Umobile.
I am thinking to port my Digi line to Maxis in view of the fact that they have increased the data GB.
Anyway there is no such thing as brand loyalty. Probably those British universities taught so. But those Australian Uni says there is no such thing as brand loyalty. Leave those business that give u a bad deal.

That was also the first book I read way back in the 1980s. It is more about fundamental analysis. Those days they are no internet. And it is hard for the man in the street to have the advantage of looking at charts n doing technical analysis. Everything moves at a slow pace.
These days charts are easily available n would be an advantage to know technical analysis. Due to internet, prices, news travel at the speed of light. Just fundamental analysis is not enough.
Dr Neoh himself have acknowledge times have changed. Making money is harder now.

Actually, holding the key are the big funds eg. EPF. If they do not throw, the price will be stable. Not only Maxis, other counters also.

What happened to Maxis may also spread to other telcos. Here is why. I have a line with UMobile n months after I signed up, I noticed that the new package for newbies offers more GB than mine for the same price. I ask them whether mine would be automatically upgraded. They say no. I have to terminate my package, pay up the bill n pay deposit, fees to sign up for the new package.
You can check the package u are using n compare it with the new packages n u will know. Businessmen are businessmen.
Digi lost lots of customers during their 3G upgrade. Celcom lost a lot last year due to their IT problem. Now Maxis. Telcos actually have to thank us for pointing out their mistakes. We are doing them a favour.

Telekoms rang up yesterday. They offer streamyx 30 Mbps at the price of $179 instead of $200 ++. What would happen if u have a 30 Mbps package but have to pay $200 ++? Why this discounted package is not automatically given to u as a loyal customer?
2016-04-08 19:07 | Report Abuse
The same if u place fixed deposit with banks. Only new funds are entitled to promo rates. If this argument is used, every business is not fair. Why not give it to those loyal n long time customers also.
