Oil multinationals have vested interest in maintaining oil in the transport section. The huge investment in infrastructure, oil pipelines, refineries, oil tankers, oil storage etc already in place means no government have the political will to change all these overnight. Changing means incurring huge investments no government can afford. Cars will continue to run on petrol for many long years to come.

My observation was on TM some time ago which I own some shares. The buy side showed orders for over 1 million shares while the sell side about 300,000 shares but the price hardly moved. Unlike what is happening to Maybank.

What the Minister said n reported in the Sun last few days was: spectrum reallocation was to improve services in rural areas. Allocation means those spectrum allocated will not be subjected to auction. Gomen will determine the new fees telcos have to pay. This is far better than auctioning.
Then where does 'auction of spectrum' fit in? MCMC now has a block of 900HzM not allocated to any telco. This block can be auctioned off.
During the meeting with the industry captains, the industry captains suggest: 1) make 700 HzM band available to auctioning since no one is using it now. 2) refarm those spectrum given to those companies which did not built any infrastructure n merely renting it to other telcos.
The picture is clearer now. Due to spectrum reallocation, telcos are expected to spend 1-2 billion over 10 years meaning about 100,000 per year to add equipment to maintain the same quality

They have already got factories in other SEA countries with cost of production lower than ours. So, they just import n sell. Why no revenue? I pity those workers who are retrenched. But don't blame it on BAT. Nobody will 'tolong' retrenched workers.

If u have observed. Buyers n sellers blocked both entrance n exit. If u want to buy, u have to pay the seller's price otherwise u will be jammed in the long queue. Same if u want to sell, u have to pay the buyer's price. I believe both are gomen funds. If they want to induce some panic selling, the buyers on the buy sell would suddenly disappear.

The telecommunications sector is not moving due to gomen's new policy on spectrum. by doing this, all companies are affected in that they can no longer afford to pay big dividend. ASM, EPF, Tabung Haji are all going to give less dividends now. Not only this, the market value of their investments have also gone down. The sword cuts both ways.
They changed the policy when all the network are already in place. Redistributing spectrum means that when the plug is removed, all our lines will experience drop calls etc. Celcom has given the hint that they will have to spend RM1 -2 billion over 10 years. Not one year. It means the quality of our calls will drop no matter what line u are using.

Today in the Sun, "more than 50,000 graduates unemployed in 2015". Only those big companies can afford to employ graduates. If u keep on driving away these multinationals, you will get this problem. Most of the job vacancies now are sales n marketing job which does not need to employ graduates. Those non-graduates who can do a super sales job is wanted everywhere. it is no use hiring a graduate who only can do backroom jobs. Banks have retrenched a lot of backroom staff via VSS.

Shale oil producers can restart their operations within a time span of 3 months after shutting compared to those traditional oil fields which takes over 1 year to restart. They put a ceiling on the price of crude oil now and in the future. Years ago OPEC though they could hold the world at ransom but not now anymore. Huge shale oil deposits are found in Canada, Argentina, China. How high can crude recover?

If u keep on increasing tax like no tomorrow, these industries will shift. The beer industry has also given this indication. Smoking is sin. Vaping is not sin? Unemployment among the general population will rise besides those employed graduates.

Umobile is trying to get market share by pricing its packages below its cost. With no money to make from these packages, u can see its market share increase but not profits. The ex CEO of Digi said ultimately they will suffer from network congestion n have to spend more and more on hardware.

Digi lost market share. Its package might be cheap but what about the quality of its network. I went to ClubMed Bali a year ago n I can't make a call back to Malaysia from the resort hotel. In the end, I borrowed my friend's mobile using Maxis line n I was able to call home.

CIMB's NPL in Indonesia up. Mayabnk's subsidiary in Indonesia NPL down mainly due to restructuring of those bad loans. Not because its asset quality is better. Restructuring of bad loans e.g. converting it to long term loans, lengthening the payment period etc.

The question really is "is the correction over"?
2016-02-26 22:27 | Report Abuse
I would say it could correct to $5.00 but it will take time to reach its target. If u look at the charts, Petron formed a double top with candle wicks which means it does not have the momentum to go further up. This is already a warning sign.
To put a setup there is high risk. I may as well buy other counters which have the same upside potential n less risky.
Insiders have a lot of info which we do not have. 2 months have already passed when the results are being announced. What is their performance during these 2 months, we do not know. Those who bought at the early stages have all made money. But to assume investors would buy to the extreme based on EPS is lot logical.
GLS like Petronas D has the support of gomen funds & you can say its PE is expensive. Others may not have.
2016-02-26 20:22 | Report Abuse
The eps should be based on prospective eps & not historical eps. The question is what will be its eps going forward? Can Petron repeat its performance or is it just a one time event?

If u want to search for a reason, u can never find one. Some big funds which have bought earlier is cashing out. They are converting their paper profits into cold cash. For the joys of investment is in the selling.

Petron has probably completed its impulse waves n is embarking on its first corrective wave down. Traders make $$ when they play the impulsive waves but lost back their $$$ when they play the corrective waves. Beware.

Hi connie, yes my humble opinion is the high of 0.88cts is wave C. Sometimes the wave looks freckish as it may take a long term for the wave to form.

Your first chart on HHGROUP labels the high of 0.88 cts as wave no.3 but its subsequent retracement went below the area of wave 1 which confirms the high of 0.88 cts is wave 5 rather than wave 3.
