Mutation could make coronavirus more infectious, study suggests
June 13, 2020
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/06/12/health/coronavirus-mutations-scripps-gene/index.html
"Sometime in the middle of January, there was a change that allowed the virus to become more infectious. It doesn't mean it's more lethal," Haseltine said. "It makes it about 10 times more infectious."
"This virus is going to respond to whatever we do to control it. We make a drug, it is going to resist it. We make a vaccine, it is going to try to get around it. We stay at home, it is going to figure out how to hang around longer," he said.

all european countries even developing countries is above 112 while china is at 6
Imagine if China, India and Indonesia comes to half the level (112 ) at 56.
3 Billion times x (50) = 150 Billion per annum rise
Pre-Covid demand was at 300 Billion level, meaning 50% increase in global demand.
Its not that difficult to envisage China and India increasing their consumption by 10 times compared to pre-covid level permanently, just at 50% level of other developing countries.

covid 19 changed standard operating procedures (SOP) of healthcare and uplifted global hygiene awareness permanently
just like 9/11 attack permanently change SOP of screening at the airports
the potential implication is reflected by the enormous difference in per capita consumption of the developed nation vs developing countries like China, India, Brazil and Indonesia

Shortage of medical gloves to persist into 2021, says top supplier Malaysia
World consumption of the personal protective equipment is estimated to jump more than 11% to 330-billion pieces in 2020
04 JUNE 2020 - 10:46 KRISHNA DAS
Kuala Lumpur — The global shortage of medical gloves due to a coronavirus-driven surge in demand will carry over into 2021, Malaysia, the world's biggest gloves supplier, said on Thursday, warning buyers to be wary of scammers promising quick supplies.
World consumption of the personal protective equipment is estimated to jump more than 11% to 330-billion pieces in 2020, two thirds of which are likely to be supplied by Malaysia, its rubber glove manufacturers association (Margma) said.
It recently received more than a dozen reports of fraud and fake agents claiming to represent member companies for glove supplies. Counterfeit company letters were produced to appoint bogus agents or potential customers were quoted “ridiculous” prices with a promise to cut short delivery time.
“Buyers are reminded that while glove prices have soared and demand is overwhelming, the industry’s supply is being fully booked until early next year,” Margma president Denis Low said in a statement.
“Margma foresees the shortage of gloves due to overwhelming demand this year to spill into 2021.”
The global disposable gloves market was valued at $7.6bn last year and is expected to reach $11.8bn by 2025, according to VynZ Research.
Margma, whose members include top-two players Top Glove Corp and Supermax Corp, also said worker safety and welfare were being monitored “critically” as pressure increases to step up production.
Last week, a group of European politicians urged the EU trade commissioner to make sure higher demand does not become an excuse for exploiting workers, who come mainly from Bangladesh, Myanmar and Nepal.
The US in March lifted a ban on imports from Malaysian glove maker WRP Asia Pacific it had accused of using forced labour.
Developed economies, home to only a fifth of the world's population, account for nearly 70% glove demand due to their stringent medical standards.

..................................

Source : KENANGA
Contrary to our earlier assumptions, the industry ASP has risen further month-on-month in anticipation of tighter supply and supernormal demand due to the pandemic. We highlight that SUPERMXs OBM distribution model could yield higher price and margins. Industry ASP over the next few months is now higher by between 5% and 15%, as opposed to the previous monthly 5% hike. With a diverse customer base, we expect SUPERMX to have better pricing power, potentially getting higher than industry average selling prices. Hence, we raised our FY20E/FY21E net profit by 11%/43%, to account for higher margins. TP is raised from RM7.60 to RM10.90 based on unchanged 26x CY21E EPS. Reiterate OP.
Dual-stream incomes from manufacturing and distribution. We gather that it is confident of raising ASP by between 5% to 10% each month from June till Dec 2020, vs. our previous expectation of 5% monthly increase from June to Sep 2020 indicating supply tightness have further propelled ASP higher. Specifically, Supermax is expected to gain from higher margins from both its gloves manufacturing and distribution. We expect higher margins going forward due to higher product mix skewed towards OBM distribution which accounts for 95% compared to 70% pre Covid-19 which we believe had caught us as well as the market by surprise at a time when supply is tight due to aggressive stockpiling of critical medical supplies including gloves. Supermax is getting enquiries from foreign government agencies, non-government organisations, retailers and restaurants chains. Amplifying the pent-up demand, buyers are paying between 30% to 50% deposits in advance to secure glove supply and timely delivery. From a conference call with its investor relations, we understand that demand has continued to climb over the past 2 weeks indicating that lead time is now 12 months compared to 10 months and order-book filled up to June 2021. This led to higher utilisation rate of >95% as compared to pre-COVID-19 level of 80-85%. Case in point is Supermax’s overseas distribution centres which are experiencing fast inventory depletion from the normal 4 months to within 6 weeks. Supermax expects the heightened demand to continue for the next 1 to 1.5 years.
Outlook. Plant 12 consists of Block A and Block B, each consisting of 8 double former lines with 2.2b pieces each (total 4.4b pieces). As of now, for Block A, its remaining 3 lines started commissioning in end March 2020 on top of the 5 lines already in commercial production. For Block B, all 8 lines are expected to be fully commissioned by 2H 2020. Upon full commercial production by 2H 2020, installed capacity will rise 13.4% to 26.2b pieces per annum.
Raised FY20E/FY21E net profit by 11%/43% after raising pre-tax margin assumption from 16%/18% to 17%/25%.
Undemanding FY21E PER valuation of 18x compared to earnings growth of >100%. Correspondingly, our TP is raised form RM7.60 to RM10.90 based on unchanged 26x CY21 revised EPS of 41.9 sen (at slightly above +2.0SD above the 5-year historical forward mean). We like Supermax because: (i) the stock is trading at an undemanding 18x FY21E EPS compared to expected earnings growth of >100%, and (ii) of its OBM model, where it can extract higher margin from distributor prices, compared to the OEM model at lower factory prices. Reiterate Outperform.
Key risk to our call is longer-than-expected commercial operations of new plants.

The kyy calculation is not fair to supermx in term of selling price and product %. Should higher than 13
he he...not many understand supermax obm centre, obm independant distributor and oem composition. using supermax price chart to compute topglove n comfort. its already very wrong. u can say 100% ASP for topglove obm department ,that i can understand. for comfort, i think very difficult. only for supermax can capture full 300% increment for 55% obm segment. the other glove company is very very wrong to use this pricing to compute their profit.

Mr Koon takes my report to attach to his article.
This calculation is very conservative, 10.14 is still has not hit yet.
No reason to put up so high target price.
"The Manufacturer's selling price of gloves had increased from USD 25 to USD 110, an increase of 340%."
From the above statement, I know how high is the target price.
Wait for next quarter result out, I will revise up the target price again.

Malaysia’s Datasonic is rumored to be on the heels of a series of government contracts, while Precise Biometrics’ CEO is optimistic about the company’s digital ID and access control offerings. Other announcements by publicly traded industry players include a new client for Nuance, a new board member for Synaptics, resolutions from Fingerprint Cards’ and Idex Biometrics’ AGMs, and a new implementation of Goodix technology.
Datasonic rumored to be in line for government contracts
Datasonic Group Bhd shares have surged in price on rumors that it may win a new contract with the government of Malaysia, where the company is based.
The company already provides biometric facial recognition to the government for border control, and stood up a joint venture to develop next-generation biometrics with Digent last year.
A contract for online renewal of temporary foreign workers for the country’s Immigration Department was extended, ahead of a possible new contract. The news sent Datasonic company warrant DSONIC-WA up by 11 percent in a day to 65 sen, on the second highest volume among public companies on Bursa Malaysia, with nearly 109 million units traded.
The contract for temporary foreign workers is currently held by MyEG, which has received notice to continue providing the service until informed otherwise. The contract had been set to expire on May 22.
Other contract expected to be handed out in the near future include tenders for the Foreign Visa System, One-Stop Centre, Foreigner Identity Card (I-Kad), Electronic Medical Records, and National Digital ID, according to market analyst firm RHB Research, which notes Malaysia’s government is attempting to attempting to speed up its digitalization.
RHB raised its target price for Datasonic stock from RM1.67 to RM1.84.

@probability... I hv doubt of IB's Kim Eng price of USD 0.06/pair is correct.
If we check online, one box of 100pcs of nitrile glove of TP retails at rm26~30. This is around 26~30sen per pc.
Assuming the trader/retailer takes a 40% margin/cut, which I think is already ver high for just a trader, it comes to 15.6~18/pc...not per pair. Take into consideration of transport cost of 2%~5%, ex work price is 14.8~17.2/pc and not per pair....
With this I don't think these IB guys are talking proper here...furthermore the glove industry lingo has always been per pc and not per pair....

ASP Q3: 13 cent/glove

Thus revenue for Q4;

= 773m
the gloves ASP are rounded figures, where the ASP for Q3 is actually 12.7 cents/glove

@wok, to help you on your derivation, please use the following:
Q3:
...
ASP avg of 13 cent/glove
Sales volume: 3.5 Billion gloves
Revenue: 447m
Costs: 352m
PBT: 95m
PAT: 72m
Q4: (assuming no change in sales volume, but purely ASP change to reflect Analyst briefing charts)
...
ASP avg of 22 cent/glove
Sales volume: 3.5 Billion gloves
Revenue: 773m
Costs: 352m
PBT: 421m
PAT: 320m
......................
I leave it to you to calculate the effects of raising throughput/sales volume to say 5 Billion gloves in Q4

Re-posting:
..........
https://research.sginvestors.io/2020/05/top-glove-maybank-kim-eng-research-2020-05-29.html
They say ex-factory price of Nitrile gloves at 0.06 USD per pair from above link. This means minimum price of ASP of Supermax in Q3:
= US$0.06/pair x (0.5 pair / unit) x 4.2 (RM-US exch)
= US$0.03/unit x 4.2 (RM-US exch)
= 0.126 RM/glove
............
If you use the above ASP which is the "minimum" possible in Q3, you get max Sales volume possible for Q3:
= 447,000,000 (RM) / 0.126 (RM/glove)
= 3.5 Billion gloves sold in Q3
which is half the capacity Supermax has
2020-05-30 22:02 | Report Abuse
@wok again.....
My statement below is incorrect. If Maybank incorrectly used 'pair' for 'unit', then price per glove in Jan 2020 was even more higher than US$ 0.03 i had used to derive throughput (it becomes US$ 0.06 per unit)
This conclusively means, it was impossible for Supermax to have sold more than 3.5 Billion gloves in Q3
and in Q4 we will see the effects of selling 6-7 Billion gloves

Best Gloves for Barbers and Stylists
https://www.elegancegel.com/blog/best-gloves-for-barbers-and-stylists/#:~:text=Nitrile%20Gloves&text=Nitrile%20is%20perfect%20for%20use,protect%20themselves%20and%20their%20clients.
Many professions require the usage of gloves while they work, barbers and stylists are among those professionals. Not everyone working in this field wears them though; you can say it is a personal preference. If you ask around there are arguments for and against wearing gloves.
According to some barbers or stylists they do not wear gloves because they consider gloves uncomfortable to wear, especially for extended periods of time. They can make your hands sweaty and make it hard to grip the clippers.
Here are some reasonable points on why it’s important for barbers and stylist to wear gloves:
Gloves are sanitary and good for everyone’s overall hygiene.
Wearing gloves helps to protect you and your clients from any possible blood contact, especially during razor cuts.
Gloves will prevent client’s hair from getting under your nails and will protect you from getting painful hair splinters.
Gloves will also keep your hands from getting stained while you’re applying color to client’s hair.
Nitrile Gloves
................
Nitrile gloves are made from synthetic rubber and often referred to as “medical grade.” Nitrile gloves mold to your hand for a superior fit and they are comfortable for wearing for extended periods of time. They will protect you and your client from puncture resistance better than any other type of glove. Available in different colors, like blue, red, or pink you can easily see if they happen to get a puncture in them. Nitrile is perfect for use with color and perms as they are resistant to most chemicals. The shelf life of Nitrile gloves is long, and there is no worry about allergies.
Nitrile Gloves are the best choice for barbers and stylist to use to protect themselves and their clients.
With Nitrile gloves being so comfortable, the glove trend seems to be a tendency that not only protects the professional but the client. Wearing gloves might not just be for style purposes but a shop necessity.
