Jaks is so quiet now. So i decide to contribute something but is detrimental to JAKS and many in solar.
Petronas is going green so they are looking for build and owned solar vendors. Naturally, i have been seeking advise from solar materials suppliers to look at the feasibility. After my discussion with them, i decided not to. Below are summary since i don't feel like a story today.
1. Cost per kw in the region of 0.22 sen +- . So if this is true, all LSS4 gonna lose money. According to supplier, only LSS1 operational now with price then more than 0.30+. Means JAKS after Vietnam, everything else still negative. As i said before, best ALP can do is to do nothing and earn his salary every year.
2. With the costing, not only any LSS2/3/4 investments bad ideas, solar contractors too. I heard margin is less than 10%. So, be very cautious if a contractor showing more than 10% margin!!
Hence, going forward, you would likely only see build and owned model. It's become a capital intensive and low return industry. Not for me

Btw, many don't know actually the biggest upstream oil & gas producer in Bursa is Sapura with 50% owned Sapura OMV and not Hibiscus. Sapura not seeing any dividend from Sapura OMV because they are still rapidly expanding.

SSlee. Spot on about Sapura. However, Sapura still gonna bleed for at least till 2023 so i have more money in AA then Sapura for now. Indeed AA is in deep shit but i bet Tony is survivor and they will show profit in 2022. I believe this alone will propel the share price higher. Anyway, i am closely monitoring AA's development and will bail if i feel wrong

SSlee. TQ for highlighting your concerns. Knowing you, i know you mean no malice.
Actually, i foresee AA Q4 results gonna show improvements after AAX results.
Yes, AA got a big hole to cover, how they gonna cover it i don't know. I bought AA again because i just admire Tony's entrepreneurship. I had a talk with logistic people and the one that really benefits from the freight rate increases are not the brokers but vessels/aircraft owners. AA very smart to expand Teleport. I also hope AA gonna win 1 of 5 digital banking license end of March. Yes, digital bank doesn't mean profit. But even without profit, the license gonna worth a lot of money already. (if they got it)
The previous round i made money in AA too and i sold because Covid was dragging longer than i thought. But now, i guess everyone already get used to Covid. My town, you could see that food businesses are packed again. I had flew AA twice and both time 80% full. I have flights every month but now mainly MAS due to time schedule. But i gonna switch to AA soon because they are allowed full schedule in March.
Anyway, i just like Tony's entrepreneurship and i wish AA to survive. As long as Tony not crooked CEO like most Bursa goreng stocks i am ok if he fails. At least he fought for it.
Btw, Sapura Energy is also not a con company. Sapura actually my major customers and i got outstandings more than 1 year. I still stand by them and in fact i have accumulated enough Sapura shares to be in their Top 40 share holders haha

Now, i have accumulated enough AA to be more than 10% of my shareholding.
I stand by AA for now

Hi Philip. Well written as usual and it shows how much time you have spent on your investment.
However, please enlighten me how is Hibiscus speculative stock? I am sure you have got basis? With oil price USD120, producers are the first to benefit. Especially so if the oil price could sustain. As you highlighted, any FPSO secured would be 3 years down the road. So, any new projects won't be materialised till 2025-2026 earliest. I have read up about investments in oil & gas going forward. The world at best gonna replaced the depleted production. Meaning that this is indeed a matured industry. Petronas, Shell etc not gonna produced more oil but they still can benefit from better prices. The only benefits services providers in O&G can get is by increased service rates (if any).
Is Yinson under valued? I don't know. Let's just highlight the risk.
1. Many FPSO contracts are about to expired. Extension is an unknown.
2. The long tenure FPSOs both from Brazil and yet to show profit.
As for renewable energy Yinson got into, what's the IRR? With my limited knowledge, i know energy companies go for RE to please the green activists and not on investment logic. It's like asking loan shark to put money in FD.
Last but not least, about half of the rights issue is for payment of bank borrowings. The articles claimed interest savings of RM22m, so i guess the loan interest around 4%? So now, since the FPSO returns are so high, what logic is there to repay bank borrowings with equity?
Being in business, i only repay loan when i can't utilise my equity for high returns or i have max my loan limits?

kakiminyak. I am not saying your valuation is expensive, i actually wanted to highlight it's too low. Just that i always see people use PE10 as benchmark, then you are missing out if serious investors willing to pay PE13 or 15 etc. The difference is substantial

Sslee. That's what i highlighted. Yes, undervalued land assets ie high NTA right?
I once told the stories that many rich second generations in my town keep bragging about their fathers wealth. Yes, their fathers are richer than me but for the foreseeable future, i am richer than them which making a meagre salary or hand out from their fathers. With life expectancy now in the 80s, this so called 2nd gen rich could only enjoy the riches in their 60s.
Why bet on uncertainty while you can grapse certainty?
2022-01-31 09:26 | Report Abuse
Sslee. While i am still an amateur in investment, i would like to point out the flaws in your investment decisions. I realise you tend to choose companies with high discount to NTA. While it's "safe" decision, but what you should evaluate is "why"? Are you the only investors in Bursa who found these gems? If 1 counter is consistently selling at huge discount to NTA, there must be reasons. Unless of course, if Bursa is full of dummies!
Bursa definitely got lots of water fishes but the smart one actually never comment here (then you know our levels haha). So, can't be noone ever found out your gems right?
Get Bplant as an example. While i know little about oil palm which you should be expert, i puzzled why you bought Bplant for investment? From my limited recollection, those GLC always make losses which other companies like IOI, KLK etc making profits? At your age and experience, you should know WHY right? Yet you bought Bplant because it's at a discount right?
When Warren Buffett talked about value investment, he is talking about a profit growth company temporarily selling at discounts because of market conditions. BPlant got profit growth meh?

SSlee. At current price with PE more than 60, it's definitely not cheap for me. I guess it depends on how much % growth DIY could generate going forward. Not for me. I rather go for Google, Alibaba, Apple (for now).
However, it's definitely better than Senheng.
1. high margin and high stocks turnover
2. Long way to go before saturation due to low price items
3. Online store no competitive advantage due to low price items (I have compared online, price either no difference or so insignificant, i just don't bother the hassle
Having said this, i am not buying DIY. Neither am i for Insas at this price haha.
In fact, Insas's upside is limited even with Inari bull run last year and if technology stocks correct further your wish of 0.50 might come true. But i will be queuing at 0.51 to buy 3 mil shares to beat you being the top 30 haha

The chart above is natural gas price. Repsol is 50% gas. Which is considered cleaner energy for the green activist. Good for my kids.
But for me, my main interest actually in the price. As said by Petronas CEO lately, natural gas price has increased from average less than $3 to now $20 plus. Now, if my knowledge is correct, cost per barrel of oil around $20, at $80, that's 300% profit. Natural gas cost around $2 plus and $20 that's 800% profit at least.
Palm oil cost around RM2k and at RM5k price already pecah lah.

SSlee.
Jim Cramer is not God but someone who i listen to. This might be your answer for O&G boom and bust cycle? In fact, from my readings gathered so far, not only oil, metal commodities also same conservative approach on production expansion. Hence, i anticipate high resource prices for years to come. Most people will suffer from high inflation. One way to hedge against that is to invest in oil, metal resource companies.
I just took an Airasia flight on Tuesday to visit Petronas clients and it was 70% full. I was told that all budget for 2022 has been approved 100%. (2020 cut 45%, 2021 25%) 2023 gonna be even better. Now while you are waiting for Insas to be taken over or the major shareholders came to their conscience to give you more dividends, let's buy some O&G stocks, especially Hibiscus.
Don't just enrich your Insas directors la, help push up Hibiscus so i could retire at 50

I will buy and sell when reach RM1, so 10% gain is not appealing now

Existing Hibiscus shareholders feel frustrated with the slow move because you are not reloading on Hibiscus shares. Just imagine if you are still accumulating Hibiscus shares, what would you do? Of course the lower the better right?
If i were accumulating, i would keep quiet and queue big sell orders at few prices to create an impression that there are many sellers to flush out weak holders. Also, i won't want Hibiscus in top volume page cause many speculators buy whatever in top volume. Once you understand this and you see an uptrend stock price, albeit slow, it's good sign. The last round faced correction because every tom dick harry were here (70m shares a day) and ngam ngam oil price correction.

Armada is good but what's the revaluation catalyst with higher oil price? They are FPSO charterer with fixed rate right? So, oil price USD60 or USD100 makes no different. Only catalyst would be new FPSO contracts. That, i would say Yinson is a better FPSO proxy.
As for palm oil, you are the expert. Can we expect sustainable high CPO price?

Now, talking about pump and dump, let me promote a pump stock Hibiscus.
Oil price now USD86 in case you didn't realised cos Ron95 still stays at 2.05 thanks to our government subsidy. Hibiscus gonna count money till hand tired haha. On top of oil price, their production are tripling from before pandemic. For me, USD60 already very good but at USD86, that's excessive. Don't you see Petronas earning record profit?
Now, before you turn trigger happy and buy up all O&G counters, STOP. Oil producers are making tons of money, not vendors or service providers. Oil producers cost of production has dropped tremendously. Guess at whose expenses? I am in O&G business myself and if you talk to all vendors, same stories. Margin keeps dropping every year. That's of course except Serba, they are in a different league and universe. Their profit margin depends on how much Encik Karam wants.
Will O&G vendors recover? Activities already recovered so profit should improve. Should. But the best are producers.
Now, i have to let you know that i hold substantial shares in Hibiscus and i am not helping you but helping myself to reach my retirement target earlier. When you pump, i gonna dump

SSlee, Thaipusan no holiday in Indon right? Why so free?
Enough bashing la, why you hate Tony so much?
That aside, i read from your posting from Maybank that the superapps valued at USD1B? So, i would like some feedback from forumers here about user experience.
My own experience with AA flights are good. Even non refund i got no issues cos Airbnb and MAS also did the same thing. Otherwise, AA would have bankrupted by now already which i don't wanna see. Then MAS gonna charge me RM1000 for my flights again.
However, i have tried AA superapps, honestly is it just me? I find it super user unfriendly. So far, i use Grab apps, Fave, Food Panda and even TnG lately due to toll and parking but not Airasia superapps. So if my experience is not unique and yet can value at USD1B, i don't know Maybank dumb or smart

Let's differentiate between CEOs that's out to cheat and those that tried but failed. Bursa is full of CEOs that's out to cheat and i would like to think that Tony is not one of them. Of course, i don't know Tony personally and it's just based on my observation. How many here knows Tony personally to judge definitely he's a crook?
I am forever grateful that AA came into existence so i could fly cheaply. Especially when i first went into business and every ringgit and sen counts. I stayed up all night from 12am to 6am so i could book my RM9 per way ticket for the whole year. And AA services never disappointed me.
In 2021 i took only 1 return flight on AA and it was 70% full. Of course, AA results will be affected still due to reduce flights and capacity. International flights still unknown. I had taken more flights in 2021 on MAS than AA and gonna continue so in 2022 due to schedule and indifference in prices.
I foresee aviation alone, AA gonna have a tough time still in 2022. However, does it mean that i wish AA to fail? Definitely not. AA is the reason we got cheap fares nowadays. However, we got to be realistic whether it could sustain being a going concern? Personally, i believe AA can as Tony has proven his entrepreneurship. Having said that, it doesn't mean it's wise to become a shareholder of AA, since the hole will be very deep to cover.
AA is on my watch list and i wish AA to survive the unfortunate pandemic

1. Profit growth. Not necessarily exponential growth but growth. Then i am looking at capital gain from share price growth. Paying dividend is a bonus.
2. Dividend shares. I am looking at income stream.
Of course, there are various other reasons to buy shares
1. Deeply discounted share price vs NTA. (Waiting for take over or owner to die)
2. Speculative stocks (I find my odds better at Genting baccarat. Even if lose, i get free rooms and meals)
3. Charity. Companies that constantly do RI or PP. (Help the owners & kids to go holiday or buy super cars)

A lot of people try to buy ex dividend stocks thinking they could instantly earn the dividend paid. Eg. with gloves high dividend now. That only true if the share price could increase equivalent to the dividend paid. In Hibiscus case, 1 sen. Means if Hibiscus up 1 sen then you have earn 1 sen dividend. Otherwise, there is not earn or lose on 31/12 price

i always puzzled why Malaysians keep falling for pyramid scheme, macau scams etc. Till i witnessed all the still hopeful in SD forums.
While the hopefuls are hopeless, those that hailed KPMG also not seeing the full picture. While i am not an accountant, i can bet my underwear that the accounts are fictitious not for 2020 alone. So, why KPMG only raised concerns in 2020 and not 2018 and 2019??
In my opinion, KPMG just closed 1 eye as long as they got their fees until they realized the shit gonna hit the fan (Dumb Karim exposed himself with the middle east news). Only then they knew they need to wash their hand and distance themselves.
SD shareholders should sue not only the directors (you win also not gonna get any money) but KPMG for their negligence in duties. Now, this is your only chance to recoup some losses.

I started investing/speculating/gambling at the young age of 20. I have done forex, futures, contra, casino and share investment. I know all about basic investment strategy but never bothered to investment in solid companies because i deemed them too boring. Compound return 10% per annum?? Boring.
At least for me, i lost my pants and underwear. Since then, i don't wear underwears. If it works for you great. But i doubt. So, you gotta reach a point that you need to surrender and do the boring things, invest in fundamentally boring stocks. It was a no brainer even during year 2000 to buy Public Bank.
