Don't BS. The day Petdag drop from 29.7 to 26.90, Petdag CI opened at 18 and straight drop all the way to 8 before closing at 8.5 sen. Intra day, the next price was lower than the previous, so don't BS about making thousands.
Some of you have gone in at above 5 sen and now holding a time bomb and trying to promote CI and CJ so that you can sell off. As long as Petdag is below 25, don't hope for any rebound of CI and CJ. Anyway good luck.

prm, do tell me how you analyse call warrants, I would like to know.
Do you know how to calculate intrinsic value of call warrants?
By the way I bought TM CZ at 13 sen end of Feb and sold it off at 40 sen on 19 May.
CI and CJ rebound? Based on what? Your gut feeling?

Petdag CI 4 months to expiry. Ex price RM 26.50. Ratio 20 to 1.
Buying at today's price of 3.5 sen, Petdag needs to be RM 27.20 by end Sep just to break even.
Petdag CJ, 8 months to expiry. Ex price RM 30.00. Ratio 25 to 1. At today's price of 2 sen, Petdag needs to be at RM 30.50 by end Jan 2015.
Looking at 1Q results, Petdag may be kept at RM 20 to RM 25 range. Even at RM 25, it is considered overvalued unless profit margin improves by 3Q. Negative ROI, reduced EPS and DY, will only reconsider if drop below RM 20.
Petdag CI at 1 sen maybe worth a gamble, but IMHO, CJ will be out of the money until expiry.

breeder, I will not enter any counter if the price is not right. Looking for 'profitable' counters that have dropped substantially, preferably the ones with call warrants.

you don't even know what you wrote. You wrote 20,000 eyes. MAS has 20,500 staff, that's 41,000 eyes or 20,500 PAIR of eyes.
Compare business within industry, not bring in plantation stocks. Why is Air Asia making money when MAS is recording fantastic losses?

On one hand you are saying don't blame the employees/union, next thing you say reduce the employees. A cook in a restaurant and a chef at a 5 star hotel gets different pay.
It is the union that is blocking the downsizing and its also them who expects govt to continue feeding their family regardless of the financial health of MAS. Don't forget its the taxpayers and not MAS that is paying the fat salary to underworked bloated staff. Its not 20,000 eyes, but 41,000.
Since its a listed company, compensate with VSS and rehire based on needs just like any company facing similar problems.

ktsk, I have been holding it for more than 10 years now, bought 2000 shares at RM9.20. Its a good dividend stock but slow on growth. Personally will not buy it above RM 20. However do look forward it a 4 figure dividend each year.

0007, FYI the par value of MAS is no more RM1, it was reduced last year to 10 sen. As for control of cost, everybody knows that too. But can they do it. Sack everyone and rehire by contract, maybe 2 years based on merits. That way they will be lean and mean.

horseman, Panamy is a small cap stock with only 60M plus shares, in other words not a liquid counter, or very little free floating shares therefore very little buying and selling.

breeder, as in case of Maybank, its price (X price, mind you) is now exactly RM1 above its DRP/DRS while the exercise is going on right now. The attraction is taking the shares at a discount and selling it back after its listing. There is no need to keep the shares for long. Anyone who went in last one month would have profited and can sell.
jazz, how many shares do you have that makes it so difficult to decide?

What is shocking is its union leader, Alias expects Putrajaya to save MAS, mainly because its a GLC. Continue paying its 20K plus staff handsomely while they are bleeding the company to death. Someone spoke of creative destruction, let MAS go bankrupt and rebuild from scratch.
In simple language, PN 17.

I say Nicholas, only the dividend can be DRS. If you got 1000 shares, you can only convert your RM163 dividend into new TM shares, ie you get 30 shares and not 1000 shares. So you will have 1030 shares after DRS.
2014-05-15 16:26 | Report Abuse
If TM is for long term, take the DRS. At RM 5.38, its cheap. After all you can sell it back in the open market later.

Revenue up 10%, profit down 30%.
EPS 15.6 sen per Q.
Dividend 12 sen per Q.
OE increase due to minimum pay, capex and profit margin continue to be squeezed?
With annual forecast eps of 65 sen and future dividend of 50 sen pa, this counter should be rm15 to rm20 range. Compatible counters are traded at half the price of Petdag.
My 2 sen opinion only.

They will hold the price at rm 2.20 range to encourage investors to sign the DRP. If you think the price will not drop to rm 2.05 and below after the listing of the new shares, then subscribe to the DRP. ksng, its only rm375 or 180 shares, not a tough decision for you.

With above 5% NPL and 90% retail borrowings, don't see much growth in near future. When interest rates hike up in 12 mths time, NPL will only increase and profits may come in at less than 100M per Q.

han, call and put warrants no conversion as not issued by company but by investment bank. Find someone with knowledge on warrants to explain to you how call and puts work.

Alex, this is put option, not call. So, supermax must drop to below RM1.62 (1.68 - 2x3sen) to make any money out of it.

I went through few bulls and bears. Was hit by Asian crisis due to dwellings in 2nd board counters. Took away some valuable lessons.
Put more into stable counters, buy when everyone is afraid and the gain are many folds. Did just that in 2009/10.

Firebird, hahaha, I get what you mean. Yes, those who bought into MBB then is laughing all the way to Maybank. Such 'golden' opportunity comes but once in a lifetime. And until today I too, am still smiling.
Yes Huang, those who bought blue chips like PBB, Genting, Dutchlady, Nestle just to name a few, have made their fortune. Now we look for equals to make ours.
That saying is not mine. It Warren Buffet's.
2014-04-19 16:51 | Report Abuse
Huang, like what Firebird said, any regrets, sell and move to more exciting counters. I too, diversified and bought into growth as well as speculative counters and warrants purely for capital gains and some excitement.
Bottom line if you are not losing money in the market, you are already winning.
2014-04-19 14:05 | Report Abuse
Yes, Huang. I made a very bold decision back then and bought in a substantial amount of MBB and suffice to say my DRP is in 4 figures.
Again its the difference between the 8.95 DRP price and X date price that is extra earning here, not the RM161.
You should join up the MBB into a single account to have an impact on DRPs.
2014-04-19 11:30 | Report Abuse
Huang, I am in MBB for the long haul and couldn't care less about capital appreciation unless I am playing its call warrant. Selfish to say but I prefer MBB to be cheaper, giving me more shares during DRPs and therefore more dividends in future. And the cycle continues.
2014-04-19 11:11 | Report Abuse
Huang, I was lucky in a way because at that time it was a financial crisis around the globe and MBB in particular was hammered down due to BII issue. Everyone was avoiding shares, in particular MBB, but being an icon, MBB will never be allowed to collapse. I am sure you did subscribe to the rights, and your average price is lower.
I see you did not factor in the gain from the lower price of MBB offered during DRP when calculating. The true benefit of electing DRP is the discount offered. As an example, if one has 10,000 MBB, he will receive 2800 in DRP and 300 in cash. Those electing for DRP would have their shares credited the same day cash dividend is paid. The news shares purchased at 8.95 through DRP can be disposed at least 9.45 - 9.50 which would give you a gain of 50 sen, 20 sen more than the dividend itself. Of course for those with few shares would prefer to take the cash dividend.
2014-04-18 19:03 | Report Abuse
Those who took up the rights issue back in April 09, at overall cost of
about RM 3.75 would have tripled their investment in term of value after 5 years inclusive of cash dividends and additional shares . Until the last DRP of Nov 13, number of shares held had increased by 20% if one were to subscribe to all its DRPs.
This is one counter that Warren Buffet says we can sleep well for 10 years and not worry about. And its a good share for retirement.
2014-04-18 18:19 | Report Abuse
hwtham, how did you conclude overall return is less than 0.5%. My back of envelope calculation shows a return of at least 5%.
Assuming at X date, MBB is at 9.81 - 31 sen = RM 9.50.
DRP was at 8.95, giving DRP holders 55 sen extra, that works out to be about 6%. Correct me if I am wrong.
