Am a bit confused. Are these guys doing mobile or fixed fibre in Thailand?

Stock

2013-06-12 17:02 | Report Abuse

Eh. Thanks for all the input lah. Cheers. I believe these guys are much MUCH better than the old mgmt team. playing in THailand is also a good tactic. but still, with this business being so HIGH CAPEX, that dividend income can smooth the LUMPY earnings. as Titicamara said. 90m dividends last year.

raviy2k13
Below profit from operation(excluding dividend income):
Q1 2012 $10.241m
Q2 2012 $23.334m
Q3 2012 $20.513m
Q4 2012 $19.213m
Q1 2013 $31.407m

Earnings see-sawing up and down. We could definately see a happy ending, but Mr Afzal if a bit too QUICK to distribute those digi shares for my liking.

IN addition, there are so many Telco players in Thailand. Also its not your backyard. No local knowledge or advantage

Our great Digi sifus, the Norweigian Telenor, holds an indirect position in DTAC, a mobile telephony company in Thailand. DTAC currently has about 23 million users which put DTAC as the second-largest mobile operator in the Thai market.

Its funny. You rarely if ever see a company turnaround on Bursa. Digi did it, only after Telenor stepped in. Lately CMSB has had a massive run up (it hit a high of 15.15 sometime in 1996/97), and now Prolexus.

Taking into account the split that happened June 2000, this stock has still not returned to its IPO price, or even close to the high it hit of 6.69 in 1997 (ft.com).

But to get to your questions...more questions. Is this growth sustainable? It just seems so phenomenal. How are they able to achieve these numbers in such a cut-throat environment? What are they doing that is so special? I know that they've been supplier Nike for a long time, but what has so dramatically changed?

Thank you very much sir. Entry is going to be the tricky part. I really would like that gap to close in KLCI pronto (i'm also curious as to how resilient my portfolio is going to be when it happens).

I've noticed how the share price of most manufacturing/exporting companies have reacted positively to the weakening USD, since that NFP report, and the noises being made about "tapering" - whatever that means.

Have you looked at Prolexus (just curious). I glanced at it and wrote it off. Lumpy earnings, with pie-in-the-sky projections of 33% ROE from RHB. Latitude Tree, with its low ROE, also didn't pass the sniff test.

Okay. I don't know much about O&G in SEA, so I went to Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_reserves_in_Southeast_Asia

To quote
"Current situation [edit]

Today, Southeast Asia is some of the most active area of offshore exploration in the world.[3] The impetus behind this in recent decades can be largely attributed to three phenomena: technological innovations in the industry, political developments in Southeast Asia and the Middle east, and the emergence of Japan as a hot-spot for petroleum trade operations.
***************************************************************************
At this moment, Southeast Asia produces nearly 2 million barrels per day (as well as 500 million cub feet natural gas).[4] However, the region's main oil producers, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, are planning for a future as oil importers as their oil output declines and domestic demand rises. As Indonesia became a net importer of oil, the country declared its own suspension from OPEC in 2008.[5]

****************************************************************************

- 2 Million Barrels per day only?
- Oil output declining?
- Net importer?

How accurate is this information?

hiya. maybe there is nothing to worry about. personally this spac game is too risky for me. but many many players CREAMED with this counter.

no profit track record. plus no dividends. plus highly paid managers. plus oil and gas industry (i rarely if never invest in o&g) equals no go for me. doesn't mean you can't make money. no o&g is just one of my personal restrictions to control complexity and minimise risk.

I want to ask a couple of things for more astute investors.

1) Why Strip Time.com of its prized asset?
2) Doesn't it seem rather self-serving, to the CEO & his partners?
3) Without the Digi asset and dividend, how does Time.com mitigate risk?
4) Wouldn't the Digi asset be MORE valuable in Time.com, to leverage in an emergency situation, whereby CASH is needed or collateral required for borrowings?

Can someone help me out here please.

fair enough. good talking Mr Ganasai. Happy Investing!

Stock

2013-06-11 02:40 | Report Abuse

I'll be honest with you Mr Ganasai. I don't like Target Prices, especially when I see a company that is performing so well. Just like Power Root. I will hold, as long as the company KEEPs on PERFORMING on a quarterly and annual basis. So I pay very close attention and eagerly anticipate EACH quarterly report, and try to digest whatever I can get from management. I also pay close attention to the COMMODITY price of coffee as this is the ACHILLES HEEL of the coffee counters...

http://www.investing.com/commodities/us-coffee-c

IF there is a SHARP RUN UP in coffee, these counters will be negatively impacted.

But that said, I am a value investor. Warren Buffet style. If I like a company and it is doing well by me, I see no reason to cut and run.

Another great example of a value share play is Padini. Remember the days when it was trading at 20 SEN. Wow. Who'd have thought it could reach RM2.00...but it did!

Then we can talk about DKSH, Dutch Lady, Tasek our Public Bank etc etc, but

Some of these of course are cyclical and affected by up/turns downturns and some by government largesse. Oldtown is afflicted by non of these as it a FMCG/consumer play. Your family to the worst criminals and government officials still NEED their daily cup of coffee come hell or high water.

We as Malaysian shouldn't underestimate a company just because it is Malaysian, but at the VERY same time, we MUST be CAREFUL and SKEPTICAL. Too many instances of FRAUD and POOR GOVERNANCE. That is what i look out for and am MOST concerned about!

Stock

2013-06-11 02:24 | Report Abuse

If you want to raise doubts and be skeptical fine. i personally think that is wonderful. but PLEASE, for goddess sake, try to talk sense to the FOOLS in the MAS, KNM, AGLOBAL, LUSTER, TIGER, MAS, KNM, SCOMI, PATIMAS, SMARTAG etc etc

You are right. I wish people were more questioning, skeptical like you on counters like AGLOBAL, LUSTER, TIGER, MAS, KNM, SCOMI, PATIMAS, SMARTAG etc etc

BTW NTA is not a great way of valuing a firm, especially one thats encountering phenomenal growth, or with great growth prospects.

To illustrate my point at how ridiculous NTA is as a metric;
NESTLE - NTA/share - 3.99
DUTCHLADY - NTA/share - 3.83
DKSH - NTA/share - 1.91

Even if there is a market crash, do you think the shares will come down to NTA???

Some more questions for this market wizard Mr Ganasai...

1) Is revenue decreasing?
2) Is EBITA decreasing?
3 Is profit decreasing?
4) Is COGS increasing?
5) Is dividends decreasing?
6) Is MARKET share decreasing?
7) Is coffee (commodity price) getting MORE expensive?
8) Are we in a BULL market or BEAR market?
9) Is the CEO and BoD LYING to shareholders?
10) Is the CEO and BoD LYING wasting shareholder funds?

-some more questions for MR Ganasai to answer..

Stock

OF course lah Gansai, there will be some drops. But you failed to ANSWER any of my earlier questions. So AGAIN I will repeat. One by one...

1) Overvalued??? who are you to say what is overvalued or undervalued?
2) Do you even know how to read financial statements?
3)Why is it that investment banks ALWAYS telling you to sell good counters with such LOW TP's?

- Can you please answer these questions.

TIMECOM good long term hold especially with the new team
