AirAsia becomes first operator of Airbus’ Sharklet equipped A320

Airbus has delivered the first A320 equipped with Sharklets today to AirAsia, which becomes the first operator of the new fuel-saving large wing tip devices. Sharklets are an option on new-build A320 Family aircraft, and are standard on all members of the A320neo Family.

Sharklets are made from light-weight composites and are 2.4 metres tall. These newly designed wing-tip devices reduce fuel burn and emissions by improving the aerodynamics of the aircraft significantly. Cutting airlines’ fuel bills by around four percent, Sharklets will offer the flexibility to A320 Family operators of either adding around 100 nautical miles more range or allowing increased payload capability of up to 450 kilogrammes.

Asean will implement the open skies policy in 2015. AirAsia, AirAsia X, Malaysia Airlines (MAS), Firefly and Malindo Air will be around at that time, but joining them will be all the other Asean carriers which are fighting for the same passengers.

Lion Air (including its Wings Air subsidiary) is on the list of air carriers banned in the European Union due to safety concerns as of February 2012.

Why they dont fly Europe direct rather to KL and Singapore for transit purpose?

All LCC is gearing up to open skies policy in 2015. The competiton will be more fierce in coming years.

On the onslaught of the open skies policy, AirAsia had announced that it would order 100 more aircraft to prepare itself.

“AirAsia unveiled its pre-emptive attack on Lion Air's plans to enter Malaysia in mid-March 2013 by starting Malindo Airways,” CIMB Investment Bank Bhd analyst Raymond Yap said.

Credit Suisse Group AG analyst Annuar Aziz said in a previous report that the accelerated roll out of aircraft locally was a good defensive measure against the start of Malindo Airways' operations here in March next year.

Genting Plantation stock has been hit by the recent change in Malaysia's CPO export tax structure with the tax free quota being scrapped, which was announced on 12 Oct.
However if we looked at the Total unplanted area we can see Indonesia unplanted area is far more than Malaysia, where 52,588 hectares vs 1787 in existing.
And 93% are matured palms in Malaysia where today this is the main contributer in revenue but with Indonesia Immatured plant of 27,600 Hectares coming in the pipe line, 2013 may soon be the year for the indonesia plants to start move into steep production phase after year 3 in plantation. The surge in Indon FFB output will be increased very soon.
Make your own judgement to think if this is a stock worth to invest.

Negotiations with Airbus SAS for ordering 100 more A320s may be completed by the end of next month, Fernandes said, as the carrier expands operations to fend off rising competition. Malindo Airways, a venture backed by Indonesia's PT Lion Mentari Airlines, is set to start low-cost flights in Malaysia next year as the region's economic growth spurs travel demand.

“The accelerated roll out of aircraft in Malaysia to dominate routes ahead of the start up of Malindo Airways in March 2013 is a good defensive measure,” Annuar Aziz, an analyst at Credit Suisse Group AG, wrote in a report yesterday. “Coupled with its strong branding, we expect AirAsia to withstand the challenge.”
